Dot, in her room, minding her own business when Wakko just sort of waltzes right in
Dot: um excuse me, this isn’t your room!
Wakko: I know, calm down, I’m just giving you your diary back!
Dot: what?! My diary!? Why do you have my diary?!
Wakko: I borrowed it!
Dot: You borrowed it????
Wakko: Yeah I just needed it to remember some things I forgot and I knew you wrote them down. Don’t worry, I skipped all the parts where you gushed about “the cute girl from the library”
Dot (now blushing): wha—How did you know that I wrote things down that you needed to remember??? Do you read my diary often?????
Wakko: oh yeah! It’s very well written! 5 stars!
Moments later, Yakko can hear Dot chasing Wakko around, screaming at him.
Yakko: ah kids..
Yakko: *sips his tea*
Wakko, from a distance: What are you attacking me for?!? Yakko reads your diary too!!!
Yakko, not changing his expression at all and being ever so nonchalant: Well, time for me to leave!
Yakko gets tackled by Dot just before he steps outside.
Later, after Dot has calmed down a little:
Dot: so let me get this straight—you two have been reading my diary whenever you want for what reason exactly?!?
Wakko: Sometimes I forget things that happened or wasn’t paying attention or just wasn’t around and you document things so well! That’s all! I read it purely for reference!
Yakko: Not me. I read it for the plot. I’m very interested in this new arc with the “cute girl from the library” but if I may make just a little note to the author—the main character needs to make a move already.

Some Highlights from the Animaniacs Series Bible
So apparently Yakko was originally gonna have a habit of repeating himself. He doesn't do this in the actual show but I think it's very childlike and cute.
Obviously these did make it to the show. Not much to talk about here but I wanted to show them anyway because they're so cute!
OK so this one is interesting because the original show straight up scrapped this idea, which makes sense. It'd be a little redundant to have both this and the gag bag be a recurring bit. However, Dot does actually do something similar to this in the reboot, she turns her bow (and her tail) into a chainsaw!
This one is interesting for the same reason as before, it's never mentioned in the original show, but it IS referenced in the reboot (in "That's Not The Issue", Wakko claims he wants "more meatballs in pisgheti!") Once is a probably a coincidence, but twice just leads me to believe they were both intentional references.
I wonder if this was meant to indicate Wakko and Dot's respect for their elder sibling or if he was literally originally meant to be able to control them with the snap of his fingers.
Yeah this didn't really make it to the show. I can't recall many times Dot gave the "special friend" the benefit of the doubt sooner than her brothers. I'm glad this aspect was changed; the one girl in the group being the most rational or sensible is overdone.
No prizes for guessing why the second version was scrapped. Although it's interesting that Dot was originally just going to refer to herself as a Warner Brother sometimes.
This would've been a really fun recurring gag, sad that they scrapped it.
Now this one's interesting because Wakko's temper DID make it to the show, it's just downplayed.
His reaction to getting an F in "Chalkboard Bungle" is probably the only leftover of the idea of him having a REALLY explosive temper.
These basically summarize why I like the Warners' segments so much; at their core they're about three inseparable young goofballs refusing to conform or just sit there and take it, and instead embracing what makes them different to make things better (or worse, for those who had it coming).
I know they're funny talking animals who do things like sleep in ball pits and burp classical songs and keep freaky monsters as pets, but their segments legitimately have meaningful themes; such as embracing individuality, karma, retaliation, childhood and how we treat children throughout it...you know just basic, silly stuff like that...
I'm not looking too deeply into it, I swear 🙃

Wakko, in his teen years, is like Mr popular who everyone his age wants to hang out and is the celebrity crush of most teens his age. Teens his age are going up to him all the time saying hi and being awkward flustered around him and trying to get a movie date with him. But Wakko, is not only acearo and doesn’t care about dating, he’s also like 100% oblivious to the fact that everyone likes him. He doesn’t understand why so many kids his age go up to him and start acting so weird. He enjoys it, everyone is super nice and he’s happy to make a friend!But it never clicks for him until later and it’s only because Yakko and Dot tell him the person talking to him was trying to ask him on a date.
Meanwhile poor Yakko would do anything for a boyfriend or girlfriend and can’t seem to get a date to save his life! Obviously he’s happy for his baby bro but also what kind of cruel irony is this??? Wakko doesn’t give two shits about dating but everyone his age wants to date him, but Yakko, the hopeless romantic can’t ever get someone to agree to a date?? What’s up with that??

I’m reblogging this to say I had a new idea for Yakko, wasn’t really sure if it was the best idea to do or if I should keep trying, so I’d been looking for other potential options.
So, as per a suggestion on a random YouTube video I just watched, I did something odd…I asked ai chat for advice. I wanted to see if the ai bot had any other suggestions that might work that I hadn’t thought of or considered. I told the ai the bare basics of what I was looking for for this character arc, I also have more specific requirements that I didn’t mention because I thought it would confuse the ai (which eh…maybe I’m wrong…) and I made no suggestions of what idea I was leaning towards or even that I had an idea in mind already.
Ai suggested the exact idea I was already considering.
So freaky and also ding ding ding I guess we have a winner 🤣🤣🤣

Reminder that if you don't like the content a fandom is collectively making, if you have a lot of great ideas that you think people should be working on instead, then you should go ahead and make that stuff. Don't publicly complain and try to make others feel obligated to do it for you. Your words have actual effects on people. A fandom is a collective effort, where we all put in our individual creations made out of our own passion. It's not a corporation trying to cater to your specific interests.

Have you written any Animaniacs fanfics by any chance? I saw a previous post about you writing for the Animaniacs fandom and want to know if you've published anything.
I don’t believe I’ve ever published any writings for the Animaniacs fandom. I have like 3 really good fanfic ideas (possibly 4 because I’m seeing the potential of a sequel for one of those three) that I have yet to write. It’s a combo of time, energy, motivation etc.
anyone who knows me from other fandoms probably knows I suck at actually getting crap done (*cough* sorry Wordgirl fandom *cough*)
There’s one idea I’m super excited about and have made a little bit of progress on so I’m hoping I can get that one going.
Yesterday I asked for clarity that the one end gag from the original Animaniacs was the only mention of Yakko being lactose intolerant. The reason I asked is because I find it funny that we all saw that moment and said “alright! Yakko is lactose intolerant! He said it himself!” Because that isn’t actually what Yakko said. The exact quote is “I’m allergic to anything with lactose in it!” He isn’t lactose intolerant, he’s allergic to lactose—and yes, there is a difference.
The difference is that being intolerant to a food is a digestive issue, it’s your digestive system saying “um…idk what to do with this…good luck!” While allergies are immune issues, basically your immune system saying “THIS FOOD IS TRYING TO KILL US EVERYONE ATTACK!” Intolerances are usually mild, and allergies can range from mild to fatal.
And I really don’t think this was a case of the writers just saying “allergic” so kids would understand or anything like that. Being lactose intolerant is super common and I think most people, kids included, have a basic idea of what it means. Certainly, if I had to wager a guess, I’d say more people know what being “lactose intolerant” means than what being “hypoglycemic” means.
So if we are basing this entire diagnosis solely off of what Yakko said, it’s probably less likely that eating or drinking lactose makes him gassy and more likely that it gives him a rash or something. Hopefully it isn’t something like his throat swells up or anything like that but that’s also a very common symptom of a food allergy.
I’m not necessarily saying we all collectively change our interpretation of Yakko's medical issues or start writing him as having an allergy, I just find it funny that we all jumped on this bandwagon (myself included, which you’d think I’d know better, having food allergies myself lol) without actually thinking about what he was really saying.
One reason I find this funny/interesting is if he had instead said “I’m intolerant to peanuts” (which admittedly I’ve never heard of, but I’m sure it’s an issue for someone somewhere) we would have instead all had this idea that Yakko was deathly allergic to peanuts and required an epipen. Like we, understandably, associate the problems with the food, not the diagnosis. Someone has issues with lactose? They must be lactose intolerant because that’s what most people with lactose issues have. They have an issue with peanuts? They must have a peanut allergy because that’s what most people with issues with peanuts have. It makes sense that we came to the conclusion that we did, it’s just interesting to me.
The other reason I find this interpretation funny is because while the fandom, at least from what I’ve seen, seems to present Yakko’s symptoms as being more of an intolerance, it seems that the presentation of Yakko’s actions because of his lactose issues, line up more with that of an allergy. The best example of this I think is actually when it’s mentioned in the reboot in the “We Could Try to do it, Santa” song. In the song, Wakko sings “And Yakko can’t drink milk at all, the lactose makes him gassy!” In this line, Wakko describes Yakko’s symptoms as that he gets gas, which suggests that Yakko is in fact lactose intolerant. However, Wakko saying that Yakko can’t drink milk at all, to me, makes this sound more like an allergy. Look, I’m sure there are people out there who don’t ever eat lactose because they are lactose intolerant, but from what I’ve read online and witnessed from friends who are lactose intolerant…let me tell you, it doesn’t seem to prevent them from consuming foods with lactose AT ALL. One friend I’ve seen eat ice cream and another I’ve had tell me she wasn’t feeling good because she brought Mac and cheese for lunch. Lactose intolerance doesn’t seem to stop them from eating dairy at all, it only seems to influence how much they eat. Wakko saying that his brother “can’t drink milk at all” sounds like Yakko doesn’t risk it, and I just don’t buy that if Yakko was lactose intolerant that he would avoid consuming anything with lactose ever. I especially don’t buy this for rebooted-Yakko-“some of us are trying to lay in bed quietly, contemplating the brief nature of our existence”-Warner. If Yakko is lactose intolerant you know damn well he’d take a jug of ice cream and say “haha, YOLO!” And eat the whole thing in one sitting. However, if the issue was that it’s an allergy, I could see Yakko avoiding milk and such, just because allergies tend to be more severe. My friend might be willing to eat Mac and cheese for lunch and risk wanting to sit on the toilet all afternoon, but I am not willing to eat a pb&j for lunch and risk spending my afternoon in the ER. I’m not saying if Yakko is allergic to it he’d be needing an epipen and being rushed to the hospital after consuming (although you angst lovers I’m sure will have a field day with that and I respect this) because the issue could totally be something mild as well. Maybe he gets a rash, maybe his lips feel badly chapped, maybe his throat doesn’t swell up but it does feel itchy, etc. Who the heck knows.
Again I’m not saying we all course correct and make Yakko have a lactose allergy, do what you want with this information. I just had this epiphany yesterday and thought it was interesting.
