YESSSSSSSS
Voice actors for video games may be following TV and movie actors to the picket line.
Driving the news: SAG-AFTRA, the union that has a contract with leading gaming companies for actors who do voice or performance acting for video games, called for a strike Friday, citing lack of progress in renegotiating a contract that expired last November.
The union said Friday that its board has unanimously agreed to ask its members to vote for a strike by Sept. 25.
Details: The union is calling for a retroactive 11% wage increase, on-set medics for hazardous performance capture, and protections against the use of generative AI to replace working actors.
Be smart: While actors who contribute to video games seldom appear as themselves, on camera in a game, they regularly lend their voices to game characters. Many also have their facial and body movements captured to animate the roles they portray.
Actors have been sounding alarms about the potential for generative AI to clone their voices and speak lines for them, without them getting paid.

GET TO KNOW ME MEME: [5/-] favorite characters — James Flint in Black Sails (2014-2017)
"This is how they survive. You must know this. You're too smart not to know this. They paint the world full of shadows… and then tell their children to stay close to the light. Their light. Their reasons, their judgments. Because in the darkness, there be dragons. But it isn't true. We can prove that it isn't true. In the dark, there is discovery, there is possibility, there is freedom in the dark once someone has illuminated it." -- XXXVIII

Armand gives Daniel this memory back, the three days locked in a room in the dark, Armand’s towering presence, Daniel’s fear laced with intrigue, with excitement. That little spark that left Armand considering perhaps he understood what Louis had seen, if he had indeed seen something past the sad little tape recorder. Armand strokes a hand down Daniel’s weathered face and the memory begins to unfold itself behind his eyes. Daniel remembers darkness, but Armand remembers desperation. Daniel had gone looking for Lestat and instead found Armand, or rather Armand had found him, had sought him out like a rat worth studying. Go play in your maze, little one, you'll never find the exit. Armand thought to himself, My Louis loved this boy for a moment; if he should be watching, I shall devour him. But the boy was so thin, unsavoury, his curiosity the only thing of flavour that coursed in his young blood.
a (still ongoing) series that takes us through armand and daniel's memories (or lack thereof) of the relationship they had in the past as they start to resurface in dubai. the play of recollection and reversion and perspective is wonderfully executed, armand and daniel's thinking are both very distinct and very true to character, and the strained but undoubtedly profound love between armand and louis is one of my favorite interpretations of their relationship.

loved this part and the colors so I decided to paint it.
I don't understand the whole "scab" thing. The strikes are ongoing, but people are still working on shows, movies are still being made, they just aren't allowed to talk about it or they'll be shamed for some stupid reason. But if they don't talk about it, people won't know about it, and they won't see it in theaters or whatever and they worked all those hours just for it to flop because of some stupid shaming rules that kept them from marketing their work. Can we stop this stupid "scab" thing? You really think shaming them for talking about the work they're asking to be paid for doing is helping the cause? Frankly, they shouldn't be doing anything at all while striking, but if they're still working, they may as well make it worth it and talk about it so people can see their work. And people were really trying to shame the Tumblr site, a non-profit site that had nothing to do with Hollywood or anything, because they were doing the marketing that the actors aren't allowed to do? I just don't understand this. If they don't market, the movie flops, the CEOs see that it flopped and blame the actors and SFX people and it'll be more incentive for them to not pay when the actors and SFX people can't even make sure the movie is good. The movie could be the greatest thing ever, but if people don't see it, then the numbers say it's bad and it's actually working against the people asking to be paid to tell them NOT to talk about their work. So, End Scab Culture.
This seems to be a well-intentioned but rather confused take. The concept of scabbing is an absolutely essential labor idea that makes it possible for union leadership to appropriate discipline members who are out of line during a strike. Scabbing specifically refers to workers (in this case, actors and writers) who work for struck companies during a union-mandated work stoppage. If a union isn't organized enough to make work stoppages hurt the companies, strikes don't work.
In the context of the actors' strike, actors who do acting or promotional work for the studios ARE scabs, full stop. (Fans have sometimes wrongfully accused actors/influencers of scabbing when the show/post in question wasn't actually struck, which obviously is frustrating—but the root problem with that is toxic fan culture, not the concept of scabbing!)
You're also not correct about people still working on shows and making movies right now. Work on US studio films/shows has completely halted since the actors' strike began in July!
You might be getting this confused with the interim agreements for truly independent projects, which are non-studio companies who make their own deals with the unions. In that case, of course actors can talk about their non-studio projects (and international projects that are not related to the US studios). That's not scabbing. But no US studio films/shows are being made right now.
On our end, the Tumblr marketing One Piece thing seemed to annoy users, primarily because it had the potential to trigger people with clown-related phobias; also, there was no way to hide it even with a Tumblr no-ads subscription. Also, people are allowed to be annoyed at a website that prides itself on being the "home of fandom", while also marketing for a struck company that is in the news for being an exploitative, abusive workplace that is trying to destroy the careers of the actors & writers whose work actually creates the projects we love. We understand that Tumblr is probably under legally-binding contract for this marketing and that might have happened pre-strike, but it's still understandable to be annoyed about it happening in the midst of a labor dispute with Netflix.
Your tumblr is so sexy anprim dyke but like why is your twitter so seattle queer coded? "I want you so bad" under a 3 like tweet, "Liberals will pretend he didn't say this" to get 5 likes, "can i bark for you", is this how u get laid?

The first memory is only the first memory, the first crack —after the dam finally breaks, Daniel tries to make sense of the past unraveling itself in his mind. While continuing to thread the story of Louis's life, he attempts to untangle the questions of his own. But Armand offers no answers, and Louis gives him no straightforward ones. As their histories weave together and the line between journalism and personal chronicle disappears from sight, Daniel struggles to figure out who they were then, what they've become, and why exactly he's been summoned to Dubai.
