The Adventure Continues...

@ideasfromanotherapocalypse

A place to collect thoughts, fictions and ideas. I'm a fan of Disney Ducks, Arthur, cartoons, newspaper comics, Late Antique history etc. If it's old or based on something old y'all are never gonna hear the end of it.

Ao3 is actually massively culturally important and very very good at being what it is. I’m so serious when I say that ao3 needs to be protected as the anti censorship, by fans for fans, nonprofit, volunteer run, expertly designed archival site that it is. You don’t have to read or like fanfiction to understand that on principle, ao3 is a site that should be defended.

Hey, could you do me a favor?

Could you just RB this?

The little RB statistics chart is so pleasant and stimmy to look at and I want to see what it looks like when it gets really REALLY huge because it makes me think of some deep sea lifeform

THANK YOU THIS IS MAKING MY BRAIN SO HAPPY AAAAAAAAA

THIS IS SO SATISFYING ITS LIKE A GROUP OF PLANKTON OR A RAILWAY CHART...

Which Countries Still Have a Monarchy?

choosing this time to voice my dissatisfaction with “constitutional monarchy” as a category. There is a world of difference between the constitutional monarchy of Canada (figurehead from another country with zero influence on local politics is on the money, wholly symbolic role in daily life) and the constitutional monarchy of Thailand (very real monarchial power and influence in daily life, felt acutely even if the king is living in a castle overseas) it would actually be much more useful to distinguish monarchies by the approximate value of their local assets. Even for the Windsors this would require functionally viewing Charles III as one type of monarch in Canada and another in the UK - because money distorts legal systems around it, and while the law might say that the British royal family are figureheads in both the UK and Canada, there sure wasn’t a month where you couldn’t hear yourself check out at Loblaws out of “respect” for some dead lady

people who want to live in lighthouse - i hear you, i understand you

but i raise you

living in water tower

safer (you not gonna die horrid death so easy), not so cursed but still ominous, you are alone bc you are in a tower but you can do groceries no problem, just chilling above everything else

and look at those beauties!! (from Poland <3)

as an american i was very confused by this post until i got to the images because our water towers look like this, which, as you can imagine, is a completey unsexy place to live

The Animaniacs would disagree.

hey if you're a UK resident can you sign this petition and if not please rb to spread the word

this is an official UK government petition that they have to respond to if it reaches 10,000 signatures

So, this one is actually a lot more important than reporting and blocking spam bots. That post has 20,000 notes rn, so it would mean a lot to me if you could give the same treatment to this as you gave to that (@neil-gaiman if you're listening).

If the petition gets 100,000 signatures they have to consider it for debate in parliament.

It's a crime that Gender Recognition Reform was blocked in England, but Scottish MPs voted it into law and that the UK Parliament overturned that is in direct contravention of democracy as a whole.

It's a pretty serious big deal. Please sign, or, if you're not a UK citizen, please boost.

My adaptation of the God of Arepo short story, which was originally up at ShortBox Comics Fair for charity. You can get a copy of the DRM-free ebook here for free - and I'd encourage you to donate to Mighty Writers or The Ministry of Stories in exchange.

Again it's an honour to be drawing one of my favourite short stories ever. Thank you so much for the original authors for creating this story; and for everyone who bought a copy and donated to the above non-profits.

every one in north korea is a little jester whose sole purpose in life is to fool westerns into thinking they’re capable of having fun

what even is supposed to be creepy abt this it looks like the most normal water park ever

Regular North Korean man: *living his life* *eating a ice cream* Hmmmm I Love ice cream so yummy

Weird people who can’t fathom the fact that North Koreans are normal human beings: Looks like an actor paid to make the country look good to me!

The only weird thing about this are all the guys in suits. The only kind of suits it feels normal seeing at a water park are bathing suits.

I don't care if it's a grand opening, drop those drawers and slip on some speedos! This is the one time that wearing a set of waterproof undies to a government event is going to be acceptable. Why wouldn't you take that opportunity?

Last month I caught Covid, and right at the start of my symptoms I saw this post. For the next 8ish days, I was HAUNTED by this song. It played on a loop in my head for hours. I would wake up in the middle of the night covered in sweat singing “…mixed with Zach Galifianakis” as it bounced around in my virus-addled brain. It was literally inescapable.

Anyway as soon as that ended, the Morbin Time memes started so you can imagine how that went for me, who would be deliriously sick for another 5 days.
