Another take on my Wings of Pages concept. This time it's drawn in Procreate instead of SAI.

The hardest part was writing all those words onto each page. It's 50% real text from books and poems and songs, and 50% chicken scratch lol

Older version of the same concept~

Some other bangers;

  • "Jack of all trades, master of none" ... "but ofttimes better than a master of one."
  • "Blood is thicker than water." "The blood of the covenant is thicker than the waters of the womb."
  • "Money is the root of all evil." "The love of money is the root of all evil."

there's also "pull yourself up by the bootstraps" which conservatives are oh so fond of saying

bootstraps are, well, straps on your boots. you cannot physically pull yourself up by them, and that's what the original phrase meant. "pulling oneself up by the bootstraps" is meant to be an impossible task

"Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness."

The second part really matters.

There’s a time travel paradox called the bootstrap paradox. It creates an impossibility.

In the Event of A Snakebite DO NOT…

–  DO NOT try to cut or suck out the venom

Snake venom very quickly attaches to local tissue and is absorbed into the lymphatic system and very little venom can be removed by suction. Cutting may expose the wound to secondary infection.

–  DO NOT apply any electric shock therapy

Electric shocks do not neutralise snake venom.

–  DO NOT apply a tourniquet

Arterial or venous tourniquets are not advised in most bites as venom is initially transported largely through the lymphatic system and not through veins. There is little evidence that a tourniquet could be life-saving following a snakebite.

–  DO NOT apply ice or boiling water, lotion or potions

Leave the bite site alone, except for cleaning it with cool water and applying a sterile gauze dressing. Boiling water does not denature snake venom. Do not give the victim alcohol.

–  DO NOT inject antivenom as a first aid measure

If required, antivenom must be injected intravenously by a medical doctor in a hospital environment and usually in large quantities. Some patients have an allergic reaction to antivenom and this may result in anaphylaxis – a life-threatening condition if not treated promptly.

The African Snakebite Institute has various resources about snakes - including species profiles of African snakes (and scorpions and spiders), emergency numbers for Southern Africa and snake removals in Africa (primarily South Africa) among other things.

Even if you don't live in Africa, it may be worth reading through some of the ASI resources, particularly those on snakebites.

Do keep the patient as still as possible and rush your ass to a hospital for a medical professional to apply the antidote

Also recommended: draw a circle around the bite (and if the reaction keeps growing add new circles to show progression over time)

Wash the injury with soap and water and apply a pressure bandage ONLY if you know the type of snake! Some bites cause excessive swelling so you really do NOT want a pressure bandage on ‘em

hey jsyk while hellofresh is dummy expensive and i wouldn’t reccomend it if you already know how to cook (if you’re a beginner like i was when i had it for 3 months, then it’s worth it), you should know that ALL OF THEIR RECIPES are free on their website and they all fuck hard

i will say that all the cooking instructions for veggies are pretty much the same (season with salt + pepper and roast on the top oven rack at 425F), but if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

that being said, it also introduced me to methods i wasn’t at all expecting. i would have never thought to use cream cheese in my meat sauce, and now all my friends are constantly asking me to make my special rigatoni.

happy cheffin! :)

I am a person who uses Hello Fresh for realsies because it is a bit cheaper than groceries here and definitely cheaper than takeout, but we also remake the recipes when we want a specific one and don't want to wait for it to come around in the rotation again, and therefore I know The Secret Translations of Proprietary Ingredients:

  • "Cream sauce base" = make a roux, add milk according to how much cream sauce base you're supposed to have (ex: 4 oz cream sauce base = 4 oz milk)
  • "1 packet stock concentrate" = either one tablespoon Better than Bullion or, if you want to be really accurate, Savory Choice Broth Concentrate packets are available on Amazon and allegedly that's what they use
  • "Italian Heat Spice"/"Blackening Spice"/"Fry Seasoning"/etc.: I promise you someone on Reddit has figured out what spices they use and in what proportions for each mix, if it's not just a straight up branded mix (like McCormick Grill Mates Brown Sugar Bourbon spice mix)
  • "Roasted Garlic Herb Butter" (and other compound butters, like truffle butter) = they're literally Epicurean branded butters, they do not hide this, you can buy them online
  • "Sweet Soy Glaze"/"Ponzu sauce"/"Hoisin sauce" = literally Kikkoman brand condiments: they don't hide that, either
  • "Sweet Thai chili sauce" = any sweet Thai chili sauce from the grocery store will do. We use Blue Dragon or Taste of Thai because that's what we can get in our grocery store.

fun fact: basically every mod on r/legaladvice is a cop. if you see a bunch of comments in a row that have been deleted for “offering bad advice”, you can replace “reddit” in the url with “ceddit” to see the same page with all the deleted comments still there, and roughly half the time the “"bad advice”“ is literally anything that suggests that maybe OP shouldn’t trust the cops

in this thread, the OP talks about how a local cop in their small town in Ohio is stalking him and, in particular, his fiancée, to the point that they’re afraid to leave their home.

A lot of the deleted comments are recommending cameras on the house and the cars

a lot more of them are recommending OP file a complaint, and refuse to leave until he gets the forms he needs

and a few are discussing the way small-town cops work with little to no oversight, and that it might be good to talk to someone higher up the chain.

none of these comments needed to be deleted. none of these comments are harmful or malicious in anyway. All of these comments are helping OP learn and exercise his rights as a citizen, and all of them were deleted. What all the comments have in common is that it would cause the cop to face any kind of consequences for behavior that, were a civilian doing it, would be illegal.

Filmed a process video tonite. This took about an hour and a half.

Materials used: #2 pencil, black microns, copics, colored pencil, white gel pen on printer paper.
