Tumblr is unique bc like. It's collaborative shitposting and you can't opt in or out. You can just say something about your day then an evil wizard shows up to turn your post into something humorous
Every other site is just one and done, but here a post is a welcome mat to be funnier than you
yeah or sometimes you’ll see a post that hacks into your brain and forever rewrites your instinctual reaction to seeing a pineapple explode

i dont think i can express how much i love when people decide "i may be an asshole but im gonna be a respectful asshole"
[Image description: a tweet by @femboymoding "socks" which says "*after i lost a round in cs* teammate 1: bro you suck teammate 2: thats a woman T1: i heard him talk earlier. thats a guy. T2: check her profile. shes trans. pronouns are she/her. T1: oh my bad. i meant she sucks. T2: yeah true not going to lie i laughed way too hard Imfao".]
I have OCD and with that comes quasi-hallucinations, and I grew up watching a ton of horror films so some of the worst of mine are the standard white skin/black hair demon girl type shit.
However, because a lot of them are based on horror film I have found comfort in doing things that “go against” horror films and being like “see? This could never happen.”
(It’s irrational. I know that. But shut up. This is how I cope.)
For example: I started hearing garbled whispering from beneath my table, so I started playing the muppets sound track. Because they would never play Movin’ Right Along when the protagonist is about to get attacked. That won’t happen. Disney, who owns the muppets, wouldn’t give them the rights.
And it fucking worked.
The void orb was there first and the huskamutt was pleased with his ability to sneak in without waking his older brother
Wait But like I joked about squinting to see his ears but I freaking circled Inky in one pic to send to my mom
We are also in the peak of shedding the undercoat there is no end to the brushing and vacuuming and laundry I rly need to learn to spin that stuff

This is one of those works of art that sticks with you forever. My partner and I first saw this comic years ago and quote the “okay, but like…” in our dogs’ voice several times a week.
I do love that every dog owner who has ever seen this just immediately goes “using that forever”
keep seeing Temu ads on here so just to share cause idk if people are widely aware
my friend asked me to download this app so he could get 50$ in credit on the app and it was late and i was *ahem* distracted and the minute I downloaded it it went "transaction completed" despite me not putting any card information in, I IMMEDIATELY DELETED THE APP and changed my passwords. that shit's scary. do NOT download temu or ask anyone else to.
everyday i wake up and i go “god i’m so tired. i can’t do this anymore.” and then i get up and i continue to do it
First day of summer reminder - sign up for your local library’s summer reading program. If you’re a teen or have a kid, be sure to sign them up BUT many have programs for adults, too!
Different libraries have different incentives but some are small prizes, tickets into raffles, free books, etc! I’ve seen libraries raffle off bikes and stuff
And while you’re there, be sure to check out all the different summer programs your library is having. Arts and crafts programs, foreign language/ESL classes, yoga programs, concerts, animal visits, and more!
its absurd that trio is four letters long and not three
are there no rules on this damned earth? are we just here to suffer?
there are rays of sunshine in this dark world
My first biology professor had an ‘inadequacy drawer’ full of things to remind him he wasn’t, in fact, the dumbest and laziest person to ever exist. It was mostly Darwin, notably these two bits:
‘But I am very poorly today and very stupid and hate everybody and everything.’
‘I am going to write a little Book for Murray on orchids and today I hate them worse than everything.’
“I am at work on the second vol. of the Cirripedia, of which creatures I am wonderfully tired: I hate a Barnacle as no man ever did before, not even a Sailor in a slow-sailing ship.”
-Charles Darwin on a letter to his cousin
Charles Darwin: unexpected depression hero.
I knew about “I am very poorly and very stupid and hate everybody and everything,” but not the others.
“I hate myself, I hate clover, and I hate bees” is A Mood.
My favorite Darwinism: “I am dying by inches, from not having any body to talk to about insects”. Hits me right at the center of my hyperfixated soul.
I hate a Barnacle as no man ever did before
“The work has been turning out badly for me this morning and I am sick at heart and oh my God how I do hate species & varieties”
Anyway… did yall know the Anduin is about 3 miles wide at Osgiliath if the gondorian map in the return of the king is to be trusted? Look
I cut out and imposed the scale at the corner of the image onto the river. For scale, here’s a look across from one side of the amazon river to Manaus city on the other side. The river here is still short 900 feet from the Anduin’s width.
THIS is the Bridge of Osgiliath, THIS is why they had to take such risks and sacrifice so much just to blow it up. The bridge was such an astounding feat of construction, so wide that it barely suited as a bottle neck. Remember how the Palantir was lost in the anduin when the dome of the stars was attacked by Castamir? Well wouldn’t that make much more sense if the dome were built INTO the centre of the bridge? Amongst many other houses and structures? The bridge was a community all of it’s own. Simply staggeringly large, alongside the city which spanned either side. Of COURSE it took the forces of Minas Morgul a year to cobble together a way across the rubble Boromir left behind.
SPEAKING of Boromir, doesn’t the concept of ‘jumping into the water and making it to the other side’ take on a WHOLE new meaning now? The soldiers didn’t swim to the other side they were swept down river by the current as they tried to save their strength to make it to some lonely beach before they drowned in the current. No WONDER only four survived.
Anyway I’ve been thinking about this for about a week and there’s no signs of it going away any time soon. I would recommend it to anyone.
Reviving this ancient post because even Histories of Middle Earth agrees with me, Gimli describes it as;
“The mouths of Anduin were indeed still far away south and west of us, but Anduin is even at Pelargir so great and wide that almost it seems a slow-flowing sea, and countless birds are on its shores.”
This stupid exchange between friends has become a cultural icon.
