people don't talk enough about the trauma callouts can cause and the fact people can and will use them maliciously to destroy the social life and often livelihood of people they just don't like (often out of bigotry too!) since that would require applying critical thinking to what you read and understanding that you can't just go "oh shit this person is being called out they must be Bad"

I just came up with a horrible drawing game.

First artist draws a human OC, second artist draws that OC's fursona. Third artist draws a humanized version of that fursona without seeing the original OC, fourth artist draws a fursona for that character. So on and so forth.

When I was a kid I had the expanded universe star wars book in which Boba Fett is being digested by the Sarlacc and interacting with the personalities of various minds the creature had absorbed, like it was a psychic collective, a HAUNTED space monster. It was one creature but it was driven mad with the combined traumatic memories of everything it had ever eaten so when fett kills it at the end of the story it's framed more like he's putting a tormented spirit to rest, though it's implied a part of that entity might be buried in his own psyche for the rest of his life.

Okay, here's my idea:

The British should put a time limit on the Monarchy.

Not like declaring a republic tomorrow, but deciding on a date in the future that ends the British Monarchy.

And there's a perfect date for it coming up!

October 14th, 2066.

A thousand years since the Battle of Hastings. A thousand years of this one specific bloodline ruling England.

Call time on the Monarchy after exactly one thousand years. Nice, and neat.

Even better: Charles isn't living 44 years. He'll be gone in about twenty. Now William? He's what, 40? Yeah, he can live another 44 years. His great grandmother was over a hundred, his granny was 96, William can make it to 84 barring accident or assassination.

So on October 14th 2066, William the Last steps down a thousand years after William the First won the crown.

Nice, neat, and fair. William gets the crown he's been waiting forty years for already, but ten-year-old George grows up without expectation of it.

Have a nice big abdication ceremony, even.

Plus, what an absolute baller move to announce your regnal name as William the Last.

Tired of people comparing every forbidden love story to Romeo and Juliet, especially ones about class or racial divides. It’s important to how the story works that the Capulets and Montagues are alike in dignity and that the feud is baseless and petty on both sides. If the Capulets had spent centuries systematically disenfranchising the Montagues, it wouldn’t be Romeo and Juliet. The play relies on both families facing roughly equal losses and being able to make roughly equal apologies and roughly equal reparations. Romeo and Juliet is a play about two kids who weren’t allowed to love in a world full of senseless hatred, and if you give one side a valid reason to hate the other—if either the Capulets or the Montagues are right—it stops being that and starts implying that the opressed have as much to do with the environment of hatred as their opressors do

With a handful of exceptions, I cannot use Video Tutorials for like, anything. Recipes, crafts, whatever: gimme a PDF step-by-step guide. Trying to follow along with someone in a video makes me crazy. I will occasionally use them as a supplement to written instructions (e.g. "how exactly do I make this stitch? Let me see someone else do it") but like the entire idea of YouTube recipes or whatever is madness to me. WRITE DOWN THE STEPS AND LET ME WORK ON IT MYSELF. I don't wanna be pausing every 10 seconds or listening to some person rambling.

Grizzly 399 is so cool! I went to her Wikipedia page intending to screenshot interesting facts about her, but I would really recommend you go check out the whole thing for yourself.

Grizzly 399 lives in close proximity to humans but has never caused problems or attacked a human - she has taught her many cubs important skills like looking both ways before crossing the road. She has had more triplets than is normal for grizzlies, and is far better at keeping triplets alive than less experienced mothers.

She had 22 progeny, (though not all survived) including Grizzly 610, who in 2011 adopted one of 399’s triplets along with her own two cubs. 399 previously went viral on social media for keeping her quadruplets alive through two seasons, despite bear cubs only having a 55% survival rate.

A beast crushing it on adapting to become more fit for her environment and passing on knowledge to her progeny. Top-tier animal.
