Thank god for Russian dash cams to bring us wonders like this

they’re saying it’s 3am and they’re so tired and lets just drive and get out of here and then it happens and they’re like ‘well that woke me up”

People can imagine a world with no government, a world with no currency, a world with no carbon emissions, a world with no police, but not a world with no guns? Seems to me like you guys are posers.

Anyone can imagine things which are not possible.

The question is, how will you make it happen?

By what mechanism, and through which means will you make something occur?

For example, in order for a world to exist without government, one would have to imagine the means by which government could be permanently halted or stymied.

Most possible solutions to this require a lot, and I do really mean a lot, of violence, generally against anyone who is a member of or supports any government.

Currency is another difficult one to force into reality, as methods of exchange generally exist in any complex society. You would have to use force to prevent that.

If we ended all carbon emissions, tomorrow, the death toll over the next ten years would make the black death look like a relatively mild flu season, as we rely on fossil fuels for ammonia to make food, medicine, and pharmaceuticals, which cannot be magicked into the world by fiat.

In order for you to get rid of all guns in the world, you actually have a few interesting options.

One, you could improve the human body to the point where firearms become effectively less-lethal. You could do this via widespread application of genetic modification to replace connective tissue protein in the body with a protein complex similar in structure and shape to golden orb weaver spider silk, and perhaps code the body to build redundant or bullet resistant systems of the body, such as an adaptive CNS, redundant organs, and an improved clotting response to deep body injuries.

Another option, an easier one, is to merely kill anyone who owns a gun. The problem is, you generally will need guns for this, and will likely be unable to take the guns from the people who used them to kill people. It also fails because guns are a technology, and a relatively simple one at that; they're mechanically simpler than a 2 stroke engine. Anyone can make more guns, so you'd constantly need to be killing people.

A third option, would be to make a new weapon, that can be hand held and easily carried and concealed, that was more effective than a gun. It doesn't have to be cheaper; technology will reduce costs as demand for effective means goes up.

Of the three, the first is honestly the most -interesting- but the least likely in the next twenty years. The last is the most likely, and is still interesting, if you ask me.

I’ll leave the sensibility and reasoning to Kasaron. OP, eat my entire ass. Guns are fucken tight and you’re a nerd who should’ve been pushed into more lockers in school.
