El Pacto

Ok. I think it’s safe to say how moved we were by this agreement and pinky promise to not let anyone come between them and their love for each other.

Val stays strong against her sister even though it was brutal.  And then she sends this cute little facetime of her doing the prink promise to herself.  😭😭I died of this cuteness.

Then Val proceeds to have the worst facking day at school and she stands up to Lucho which was amazing.  I talk about Valentina’s Growth here.  It was pretty amazing to see her stand up to Lucho when she used to get pushed around so much.  

But THIS .. the breakup.. broke all of our hearts!!!   Why is Juls doing that?  She’s the one who has been encouraging Val to stay strong and now she is breaking up.  What about the Pact?  This was heartbreaking.  (My thoughts on Juls reasons here) .  Even if I get where Juls is coming from, Val is still devastated and left with a broken heart.  She probably feels betrayed bc Juls broke a promise.  She was willing to give up everything for Juls.

Val is hurt, her heart is broken by her very first love.   And now she finds out that maybe Juls lied to her.    So, she calls Juls to come over but as soon as she enters, she’s soft.   The girl can’t help it, she’s heartbroken but she loves the girl and can’t be mad long.

And after they talk, her hurt disappears for a bit because Juls is near and well, she smells good (lol) and we can all see that the thirst is real. lol 

But even with everything, there is still hurt when Val realizes she can’t act how she wants to because her gf broke her promise.  I know ppl say she’s pouting to get a rxn from Juls.  But that’s not it at all.  She is legitimately hurt and angry that Juls can’t just be with her.   She rolls her eyes at one point during this exchange bc all she wants to do is just be with Juls.  This interaction is so critical to healing  the broken pact. 

Juls explains that her feelings haven’t changed.  It’s just that she doesn’t think it’s the right time.

But it isn’t until Juls makes Val look at her and talks about being soul mates that Val softens.   Juls is the one that touches her (Vals hands are still on the counter).  Juls is the one that makes a move, that strokes her cheek, that nudges her with her nose, that grabs her neck.   She’s letting Val know how much she loves her and that she wants to kiss her.  It’s almost like asking for forgiveness.  Val does forgive and kisses her back.

However, this is the moment that redeems the broken promise. Because words and a kiss are one thing, but defending their love to her mom is huge.   I think that is why the camera cuts to Val.   Juls is not denying her love, she’s not backing down.   The pact was that no one would come between them.  And in a sense, no one is .. because even if they aren’t together….  Juls wont  let anyone come between something that is real and genuine to her and Val.  

And why Val grabs her hand.  It’s not a pinky promise, but it does signify a pact of sorts .. of a moment where they are together, united.  Nothing comes between them.  In this moment, the pact is in tact

Which is why this next  part is so symbolic.  Because her mom rips their ‘pact’ apart.   Which is really what everyone is doing to them… this is why they can’t be together.

And I believe that is what breaks Val and sends her running out the door.  The reality of everyone being against them becomes very tangible.  They literally are being ripped apart in every sense of the word.    Everything that was said of Juls by Eva (she’s taking advantage of you) was said by Juls mom about her.  It’s devastating.  Plus the girl that she loves is being hurt too.  And she most likely feels responsible and hates that their love is hurting her (like Juls hated what it was dong to Val).  

Even after all of this… Juls, still holds her ground.   She’s still affirming the pact - she still refuses to let anyone deny her feelings for Val.   She’s even moving out because she refuses to let anyone negate her love for Valentina.  WOW WOW WOW.   

Before she leaves, she gives this last statement - which sums everything up.

“Valentina and I aren’t together anymore, because of people who judge what we feel ……

Juls proves herself and restores El Pacto.

⚡️ Carmilla Movie Update⚡️

What is happening with the Carmilla Movie?  (EVERYTHING!)

When is it shooting? Is the script finalized? When exactly will it be released on VHX? Will it be on other platforms as well? When can we expect the behind the scenes to begin? Is production financing still ongoing? Have you sold the movie?  What are you allowed to tell us?

These are all great questions! We appreciate the patience and know we’re working hard as hell behind the scenes to pull all the pieces together and get shooting as soon as we can.

We got GREAT news last week - we were successful in our funding application and now have the green light to go to camera in a couple weeks. Woo!

We prefer divulging production details when we’re 100% sure they’re finalized,  and we’d hate to tell you we’re shooting X day to X day only for that to change afterwards. That said, below is a general update of all the behind the scenes shenanigans, and we’ll update you as much as we can as we enter official pre-production next week and principal photography soon after.

We couldn’t have done it without your enthusiasm in the pre-sales and add-ons going towards the film. Your generosity and drive is making this movie happen and we can’t wait to bring it to you!
