My main blog for my rambles about Monster High dolls, and the customs I make of them. (For non-MH doll stuff, check out humblezombieponders)

This is another Monster High custom that took me a while to finish, but I finally got her done ^_^  She was a Freaky Fusion Dracubecca doll.   I repainted her face, and made her a fur wig.  Painting all of the rivets was a bit tedious, and not really necessary since most of her is covered up, but that's just kinda the way I do things.  I made her outfit using patterns from DGRequiem.  The overalls ended up sitting a bit lower than I intended, but I think they're still okay.  I painted her shoes, earrings, and goggles.  I also added painted details to her purse and wings.

Deadline: ‘Monster High’ Live-Action TV Movie & Animated Series Reboot Set By Nickelodeon & Mattel

EXCLUSIVE: Monster High, the ghoulish toy line, is getting another stab at television with a new animated series and the franchise’s first live-action project.

Nickelodeon and Mattel have teamed up on two projects featuring the Clawdeen Wolf, Draculaura and Frankie Stein characters.

The ViacomCBS-owned network will premiere the two projects in 2022.

The animated series will follow the characters as they navigate the hilarity of high school in the hallowed halls of Monster High. It will be showrun by Shea Fontana, who has worked on DC Superhero Girls. Claudia Spinelli, SVP Animation Development,  is overseeing the project for Nickelodeon, and Mattel exec producer Adam Bonnett and Christopher Keenan, SVP Content Development, overseeing for Mattel.

A slew of Monster High animated episodes, including specials, have been produced starting in 2010 with a handful of specials airing on Nickelodeon.

On the live-action side, Jenny Jaffe, who wrote on the Big Hero 6 TV series and is working on the new version of Rugrats, will write a TV movie musical event alongside Greg Erb and Jason Oremland (Princess and the Frog). Production on the Monster High movie is being overseen by Nickelodeon’s SVP Live-Action Zack Olin and SVP Live-Action Scripted Content Shauna Phelan. Adam Bonnett is also leading the live-action project for Mattel.

“These classic monsters have always captured kids’ imaginations and we are so excited and proud to welcome Monster High to our brand for a new generation of kids,” said Ramsey Naito, President of Nickelodeon Animation. “We have terrific partners on board at Mattel to create original content in different formats, and, with the expertise of the Nick creative team helmed by Claudia Spinelli on the animation development side, and Zack Olin and Shauna Phelan on the live-action side, we can’t wait to showcase the comedy and adventure of these characters as they defy expectations and take on the world.”

“Monster High’s strong message of inclusivity is more relevant than ever,” said Fred Soulie, General Manager, Mattel Television. “Nickelodeon shares our passion for the brand and its purpose having worked on the franchise when it first launched more than a decade ago. They are the ideal partners to bring these beloved characters and their stories to life through episodic television and the live-action television movie.”

“We could not be more excited to work with Ramsey, Claudia, Zack, Shauna, our writers and the entire Nickelodeon animation and live-action teams to introduce Monster High to a new audience,” added Mattel’s Bonnet. “This property has always resonated deeply with fans and our reimagination of the franchise will focus on addressing important themes of identity and empowerment for kids today.”

Did I partly want to get Andie Alligator just to take pics of her with my crocodile customs?  …a little bit, yeah.  I know alligators and crocodiles are different, but still.  The customs are Crocodonna and Crocodinah, Monster High customs I made a few years back.  Posing them together was actually pretty awkward since the MH tails don’t really move, and get in the way.  I think I’ll try and take some better photos sometime in the future, but it was still fun to put them together :)

Ah, figured I should probably reblog this post over here since it’s Monster High-related.  Plus, an extra photo:

:)

I had hoped to get my custom Gooliope, Peppermint, done for Christmas 2020, but getting her done before the end of January isn't bad either.  Well, okay, so I finished her hair, face, and dress about three years ago... More recently, I made her jewelry and purse.  The biggest hold up was her shoes though.  I used her original shoes but sculpted over the heels and added gems, glitter and bows.  I kept getting stuck on exactly how I wanted to finish them, but finally just got myself to get them done.  I think they look good too, even though they could be tidier.  I am happy with her overall, and very glad to finish another project that I had been reeeeeaaaally procrastinating on.  (Unfortunately, I don’t have a good set up for larger dolls, so the photos aren’t as nice as I’d like.  I should work on figuring out something better eventually.)

I haven’t taken any photos of Driderin in maybe six years or so, so I got her out for some new pics.  I haven’t taken any photos in so long mostly because she is a paaaaiiiin to set up.  Her lower legs like to fall out, and I think the elastic that connects her upper legs to the body has weakened, because they were pretty floppy.  Still, I think she’s one of my favorite customs.  She was a ton of work, and I think she turned out pretty well.  (If anyone wants to see in-progress or older pics, they’re in my drider tag.)

Oh my lord she’s amazing. I freakin love that you made her! And that alllll her tiny little shoes match!! And she’s green! Fabulous work!

Absolutely stunning work! My jaw is just permanently dropped at this point XD

@queenofsquids and @pandollop, aw, thanks so much! ^-^

#HappyFridayThe13th every Monster! Unearthed from the depths of the Catacombs - Check out the very first prototypes that were made to pitch the idea of Monster High! These prototypes used a head mold from a doll line that never made it to retail, feature the Barbie collector pivotal body (I was always all about that articulation) and you’ll notice some my scene shoes and accessories to help complete their looks plus some actual jewelry used to create their details! Just like customizers - we build prototypes out of what we have around sometimes, especially when the idea can be out there - like Fashionably Fierce Monster Teens! You’ll notice that Frankie isn’t green either... management said girls don’t like green so we couldn’t paint her up green... luckily when we tested the brand girls said if her dad is Frankenstein, she should be green! I felt so vindicated! Thanks girls in testing! For the most part the ghouls stayed pretty close to these designs, but Clawdeen got an all new outfit and a more purple color palette!

So... I guess I last posted about Pluma 4-5 years ago, but I’m finally working on her again.  She’s an Inner Monster face plate that I put acrylic eyes into, and sculpted lots of feathers onto.  I’m making pretty good progress with getting her feathers painted.  Her outfit was finished a long time ago (except for her shoes, they still need some work), so really, if I get her painted, I may actually finish her.  That would make me very happy.  I put  a lot of work into sculpting her, it would be wonderful to see her done.
