when my brother was 22, his best friend passed away unexpectedly. my aunt drove three hours to be there for him at the funeral. she went up to my brother, gave him a big hug, and then gave him a nickel. it was the same nickel; she had kept it in her wallet for 18 years, and now it's on a necklace that he never takes off.

It's been over a decade, but I'm still saddled with a lifetime ban from paypal and by extension venmo because one of my friends who was paying me back for buying him and his gf at the time dinner thought it would be funny to include "for sensual massage" in the notes section and not only did they not let the transaction go through they took back all the money anybody had EVER sent me via paypal, which thankfully wasn't much.
And in these next 50 years you will eat so many delicious meals, laugh so many times with so many people you love, shout and scream and sing and cry and smile so hard your face hurts. great news! that just straight-up doesn't happen.
tarantulas can live for well over a decade, and female tarantulas can expect to breed multiple times before they finally kick it! and since there's always the expectation of there going to be a new clutch of eggs in the nest every year, there's no benefit in getting rid of the frogs that will keep those eggs safe.
a female columbian lesserblack tarantula will treasure and protect her frogs until the day she dies, and then those frogs will go into the care of whichever of her daughters inherits her burrow! it's an eternal cycle. a cycle of frog.

Turns out it was just a bunch of news organizations completely misrepresenting what the WHO said. COVID isn't over. They're shifting from "world health emergency" to long term strategies because major countries failed to even contain it because they were so adamant to send everybody back to work as fast as possible. WHO's announcement that COVID is no longer a global health emergency isnt something to celebrate. It shows that everyone (governments and anti-maskers/vaxxers, mostly) collectively failed to care enough.

There is a Japanese water beetle called Regimbartia attenuata. It has developed an incredible adaptation to be being eaten by pond frogs.
It walks out the frog’s butt.
The beetles get swallowed whole, and usually that would be considered Kinda Fatal, but this particular species is just like “DID YOU THINK A FROG’S DIGESTIVE TRACT COULD HOLD ME?!” and proceeds to walk through the frog’s intestines, then presumably stimulate the frog’s hind gut with its legs so that the frog poops. The beetles emerge headfirst and 93% of them survive and live on for weeks afterward.
Apparently some beetles can do this obstacle course in six minutes! (Usually takes a few hours, but some people will speedrun ANYTHING.)
Isn’t that COOL?!
