Hey isnt that pic of scotty from spocks fucking funeral?????
yes?? he rocked them at Spock’s funeral
saw someone in the tags of that sisko v jadzia poll calling sisko "the show's token straight" 1. Huh? 2. by the show's text, the only not-straight character is jadzia (and maaaybe garak) 3. reducing sisko to "the token straight" is so affronting and reductive to me, especially as he's one of star trek's strongest-written black characters 4. the beet is a misunderstood vegetable.
it’s so funny how many characters tom paris has beef with like chakotay, tuvok, neelix, the doctor. actually come to think of it harry might be the only guy on voyager he doesn’t ever have beef with which is wild because harry is the only one who actually tried to kill him for real? alright
look I get why people say that Jadzia has no personality beyond the worm on the show and I have my gripes with how often DS9 dropped her storylines as soon as they god interesting as well, but I'm begging you all to employ the same part of your brain you're using to create elaborate backstories for your favorite minor Trek blorbo and think for five minutes about Jadzia Dax because she is a fascinating character who hides a lot of her vulnerability and insecurities behind a sardonic front. She is that deep.
also this is another thing that maybe isn’t fair but my opinion on anyone being kind of weird about women is soured even more by the fact that I’m pretty sure this is the season where barclay showed up because for some reason people decided he was a fun recurring character and not someone who regularly committed acts of workplace sexual harassment
and you know what while I’m talking about it i just think. it’s interesting. that when geordi had unrealistic fantasies about a woman in the holodeck that impact his relationship with the real person, he has to apologize and work to salvage a friendship with her. when julian has his involuntarily fantasy about the distorted submissive version of dax he’s criticized for it and has to work on his relationship with the real version of her. but if barclay has unrealistic fantasies about a woman in the holodeck that impact his relationship with the real person, he never really has to apologize or own up, and they kind of just get along fine after that. when the emh has his involuntary fantasy about the distorted versions of the female crew members that suddenly all want him, it’s treated as a little odd and embarrassing but not worthy of criticism and not something he has to work to make up for. it’s almost like there’s a pattern there.
and like I’m obviously not saying it’s bad that geordi and julian had to make amends for their treatment of these women! it’s a good thing for them to do! but the fact that they have to do it to be seen as redeemed for their actions and these other characters don’t (and idk about julian but geordi at least is still seen as creepy by a certain subset of the fanbase even after ultimately being forgiven by leah brahms and forming a real friendship with her) is just…..idk man. it feels telling.
I was watching TOS and...

“So… I lied. I cheated. I bribed men to cover up the crimes of other men. I am an accessory to murder. But the most damning thing of all… I think I can live with it. And if I had to do it all over again - I would. Garak was right about one thing - a guilty conscience is a small price to pay for the safety of the Alpha quadrant. So I will learn to live with it… Because I can live with it. I can live with it.”]
Chakotay pulls Janeway aside to discuss Bajoran crewmembers’ right to religious expression despite uniform regulations regarding earrings. When she still won’t allow the earrings, Tom and others protest by finding increasingly absurd ways to barely-not-violate the uniform code.
