I don’t often speak about my gender identity, especially not on public platforms. It’s a very personal thing, and I’ve always been a little cagey about giving away such intimate information about myself. But this is me taking a stand and speaking up, because I’m finally proud of who I am.

I am non-binary. And no, it’s not a ‘phase’ or a ‘trend’. Anyone who actually knows me deeper than surface level will know I’ve struggled with my self image from a young age, and after a lot of soul searching, I’ve decided this feels right. It’s me. I have my reasons for settling with the label, and I’m happy with my decision.

I‘m not going to come at you with pitchforks if you call me man or woman. I’m not going to demand people at work or the general public use they/them pronouns for me. I don’t give a single shit if you don’t ‘believe’ in non-binary. If you don’t understand it then that’s fine; all I ask is that you respect me. And if not, then please allow the door to hit your ass on the way out.

My mother just said to me "happy International daughters day”. She knows I’m non binary and use they/them pronouns but she just wants to be stubborn and try to make me her “little princess”. I hate it so much. I’m honestly starting to give up on correcting people because so many people keep on using she/her. The only ones that use my correct pronouns are my bf and older brother figure. It makes me wonder, is it worth it to even care anymore?
