Like why do the worst things happen to fanfic authors and they just brush over it. I’ll be reading a fluffy fic and the notes will be “hey sorry the fic is late both my parents died, I’m in hospital right now, and my house burnt down. anyway hope u enjoy this chapter!!“ bro???? Are you okay?????

I keep seeing people ask about this on tumblr and twitter, so I thought I’d try to help out. If you saw the Venom movie and want to read the comics but don’t know where to start, here’s a list in reading order. This is the recent storyline: Venom’s reunion with Eddie Brock, their romantic relationship, etc. 

(The caps of Eddie calling Venom darling, love, etc come from vol 3. The one of Venom telling Eddie that he loves him is vol 4.)

Did anyone else notice?

When Venom first saw Eddie, it was through Maria’s eyes.

Maria was homeless, and when you’re homeless most folks ignore you or treat you terribly. Some help out a bit and give you some change, but Eddie did so much more. He treated her like a person, a friend, and gave her much more then she asked for when she tried to sell him the free papers, even when he didn’t have much himself.

And when she saw him at the Life Foundation and cried for help, instead of backing away to hide, he risked getting caught and freed her.

Venom would have known all of this after a quick trip through Maria’s memories and would have seen how she saw Eddie, as a kind compassionate person.

So Venoms first impression of him would have been based on this, and since kindness isn’t much of a thing in symbiote society, there’s no doubt that Vemon was intrigued by this odd stupid human.

And 48 hours later, the symbiote was in love.

I feel like part of the reason Soldier 76 acts sorta asshole-y is because Gabe’s not a part of his life anymore. Like, my boyfriend and I balance each other out. I know a lot of couples/friend pairs like this who change each other for the better when they’re actually together.

Without me he’s more arrogant (to the point of irritating others) and without him I’m much more likely to turn into an irrational ball of rage.  My mother made my father’s anger issues practically nonexistent by the time me and my sister came into their lives. My father makes her actually take a break and helps out with a lot of the housework and parenting so she’s not as stressed. I helped one of my friends get comfortable with platonic affection. He helps me with my work ethic. Stuff like that.

Maybe Gabe helped Jack with his arrogance. I can see him taking the time to teach Jack how to stop barking orders and think before stupid shit comes out of his mouth (if Gabe’s the kind of person to take on a teen outlaw, he can handle a white boyfriend). After they split, Jack didn’t have that support and he fell out of practice. Also, he’s probably expressing some of his depression and grief through aggression and rudeness because ‘toxic masculinity’ and ‘Indiana upbringing’ sound like they go together perfectly.

Maybe the thing Jack helps Gabe with is his tunnel vision/lack of self care. He pulls Gabe away from work when he needs a break. He shoves food into Gabe when he hasn’t eaten in a while and is running low on energy. He’s the one to give Gabe the care he needs so Gabe’s stress doesn’t turn him snappish and defensive. Gabe-as-Reaper is probably perpetually at the end of his rope and low on patience. It leaves him very little energy left for emotional labor and makes him more prone to lashing out. 

But then once they reconcile, and go back to helping each other like a healthy pair–then you see how they were, how they shine together. 

It’d be interesting to see more r76 fics that explore that kind of dynamic–where they make/help each other be better, and you see the fallout in the individuals when that support disappears, and then the rise back up once they get together again.

OK, can I say I love this not just because of the variation of time periods and the awesome shooting but because all of the assassin cosplayers are visually different

not only is there a good amount of women in there, but also everybody has a lot of bodily variation and different silhouettes, they’re cosplayers, REAL PEOPLE dressing up rather than video game people or specifically-cast models or actors picked to look a certain way, so we get so much more of an organic variety. 

And it doesn’t matter if ANYONE thinks they don’t look ‘right’, when you’re shot this way, when you work it, when you’re confident, you can be of any body type and you will always look awesome.

Reblogging this again because the more I watch them the more awesome it is, and the more I want to play in some of those time periods.
