Yesterday, I was helping my friends sell art in the park, when a couple of girls came up to us and asked (immediately regretting it) “is this the transfem picnic?……..” to which we got to respond “no this is the transmasc yard sale.” We then proceeded to have 15-20+ beautiful women swarm our stand of 4 creatures. Life is beautiful.

my favorite part of the barbie movie 24 hours post-watch is that they addressed the weird nebulous time in the 2010s where everyone was violently anti-barbie. we HATED barbie. she endorsed unrealistic beauty standards, she was the face of white feminism, she was a symbol of capitalist overconsumption and corporate greed; but like, she wasn’t? she was - and is - a doll. she’s a symbol of a woman. the men in charge of her image and marketing and design were to blame for every negative aspect of barbie, but SHE took the blame. we couldn’t even let a doll not take responsibility for the actions of powerful men. ruth handler created barbie so her daughter could have a toy that let her imagine a life outside of motherhood and servitude to men. and we couldn’t stand it.
