The Marriage Law fics, unique and prolific trope to the Dramione fandom (and I threw in a couple arranged marriages not decreed by the Wizengamot for good measure).

Everything a marriage law fic should be. Tension filled civility that grows into affection through moments of domesticity. A reluctant Hermione who fears the worse, a begrudgingly dutiful Draco who hopes for the best, meddling Malfoy parents and a Rowensmeade cottage that the two make their own.

I enjoy the marriage law fics that set the pair in their own house and their bond grows through the domesticity of their home. Well written and delivers on the tension front, while drawing a sweet courtship of sorts.

Hermione held the photo frame in her hands, watching the photograph loop for the hundredth time. It was a family portrait—of herself, Malfoy, Scorpius, and Crookshanks. They sat on a sofa in an unfamiliar home, Malfoy’s arm was around her, hand resting low on her hip, and Scorpius sat on her lap, clutching a wriggling Crookshanks and grinning widely.
They looked so happy, so untroubled, so united . Hermione found it difficult to associate herself with the woman in the frame—the woman that she couldn’t remember becoming. She supposed she could learn to grow into her again, but the idea seemed so distant that she might just as easily decide to become someone else entirely.
Malfoy cleared his throat, disrupting her thoughts.
“Scorp took Crooks’ death hard—he’d never known loss before. It broke him a bit, to understand that sometimes things—be it animals or people—are temporary,” Malfoy said quietly as he watched her soak in the information.
Hermione was beginning to learn that the innate nature of life was not the only thing temporary about it. People could be temporary in multiple senses, not just in the one that stopped their heart from beating.
She turned her back to him as she placed the frame down on the mantlepiece, wiping the tears from her cheeks discreetly.
