This is exactly why the whole "Queer characters can only be played by queer actors" argument, or the queerbaiting celebrities argument is not only unhelpful, it is actively harmful. You are not entitled to other peoples identity. You are forcing people to come out in order to protect their careers, when they may not have wanted to share that with the world. Real people can not queerbait. Real people can not be bad representations of themselves. Do not conflate how you treat fictional characters with how you are allowed to treat real people. We can not keep having the same conversation. Forcing people to come out or else face social consequences is Bad. Always. Everytime.

In this case, Kit is literally a teenager who has been facing overwhelming amounts of online abuse for not being open about his personal identity.

Im seeing it with other queer media too. With nicholas galitzin and taylor zakhar perez in the red white & royal blue movie, people demanding that they should have been recast with "actual queer actors" despite the fact that we do not know if they are or are not queer. We can never know until they tell us that they are, which they have not.

Im also seeing it with young royals. With the new season coming out later today, the speculation on omar and edvins sexuality and relationship is incredibly harmful and toxic. They are real people, please treat them like people instead of fictional characters you can write rambling, speculating paragraphs about.

I'll say it one more time.

You are not entitled to other people's identities.

We talk a lot about internalized homophobia and transphobia but never internalized biphobia which can have serious impacts on bi people growing up and some never fully get over it or fully work through it even after they accept that they are bi.

Bi people need to have a place to talk about thier experiences and attraction without feeling shamed or feel like they are not wanted, make sure to give them that space and allow them to grow. We can all help end internalized biphobia!

back to school!

the great twilight saga rewatch:

twilight:

- the way this movie portrays the pacific northwest is just so cool, especially as someone from there

- the score and soundtrack are perfect. alternative, angsty, indie, and super romantic

- i love how the cullens are portrayed in the first movie, like all the little details say so much about them even though the movie doesn’t really have time to get into their characters

- his look is perfect here and i’m still mad they didn’t keep up with it in the later movies

- the side plot with the “animal attacks” is great cause it raises the stakes

- i know it’s so iconic but i don’t like how they changed the way bella tells edward she knows and the meadow scene. i like it so much better in the books

- this just feels like a teen movie, like moreso than “real” teen movies. everyone is so awkward and endearing

- billy burke as charlie is the best casting of the whole series

- still mad they recast victoria

- the prom scene is my favorite scene from any of the movies

new moon:

- i really like how new moon somehow manages to have its own distinct vibe while still feeling like a continuation of the same story

- also really appreciate how the beauty of the pnw is portrayed here. i know people miss the blue tint but i think that worked for twilight, but new moon needed something different cause it’s about bella and jacob and they just have a different dynamic from bella and edward

- the new moon soundtrack is my favorite (and i really love the score as well). these are depression anthems

- edwards look is still close enough to his twilight look here so i’m happy

- rob and kristen are so great in the breakup scene

- new moon has such great visuals. the shot that pans around bella during the october-november-december part, bella’s reflection in wolf-jacob’s eye, bella and edward when she’s drowning, the way the colors pop almost violently when alice and bella get to volterra

- taylor and kristen have really sweet chemistry as friends and i love pre-wolf sweet baby jacob

- mike newton king of comedy

- i think this movie does a good job with the wolf pack like how twilight did with the cullens, just giving them little moments that feel authentic and give them personality

- my biggest disappointment with this movie is how they changed this scene from the book by leaving out pretty much their whole conversation and edward trying to convince bella he loves her

score: 9/10

eclipse:

- this scene is so cute but god damn... the sideburns... the eyebrows... that wig... yuck

- i know that the plot of eclipse is the newborn army coming for bella but that’s really just supposed to be backdrop for bella’s choice between edward and becoming a vampire and jacob and staying human, and i think this movie often loses sight of that, making the character stuff (which i think is more important) background to the victoria and riley plot. so many important character moments are just glossed over in the movie it’s annoying

- renee is a shit mother but that scene where bella visits her is so sweet. it’s nice to see bella actually grapple with her choices for a second

- for some reason i feel like zero chemistry between taylor and kristen in this movie

- i think the scene where riley is creeping through bella’s house is so creepy i love it

-is it just me or does the pacing of this movie feel really fast

- are the flashback stories more interesting than the main story? *jasper voice* possibly

- eclipse is jasper’s time to shine, he looks fantastic (until they fuck his look up again in breaking dawn, yay). really everyone but edward looks great

- thank god charlie doesn’t defend jacob kissing bella in the movie

- the soundtrack isn’t as good as the first two, but there are some tracks that i really like

- the “breakup” scene between bella and jacob is so disappointing, like this is supposed to be a huge thing for bella. she’s letting go of her best friend and a future as a human, and it’s so sad in the books, but here it feels like bella’s just kinda bummed and then boom we’re back in happy times at the meadow. like, jacob deserves better

breaking dawn pt 1:

- the edward flashback feels so out of place

- i don’t like bella’s wedding dream. it adds nothing to the story

- the wedding is so cute like everyone involved really delivered

- bd1 is the first movie to just feel like it belongs to a completely different story

- the honeymoon sex scene is so sexy and soft

- it’s so nice to see bella and edward laughing and having fun together

- why is this movie so goddamn beige

- it’s not the movie’s fault that i hate the accelerated pregnancy, the fact that bella suddenly wants to be a mom, and jacob imprinting on the baby, but i still hate it

- i love the whole rosemary’s baby thing, like how gross and creepy it all is

- i really like the transformation sequence

breaking dawn pt 2:

- don’t care for the changes they made to the scene where bella wakes up from her transformation. i don’t get why edward is standing awkwardly across the room, and i wish the whole family had been there

- the effects in the hunting scene are just so bad

- what’s up with the scenes at the cullen’s house that are clearly shot on green screen

- pretending this is rosalie showing bella and edward HER baby that bella generously gifted her

- what is up with the weird sparkle orgasm shot

- i think they did a pretty good job with bella’s vampire look

- this whole movie just makes me want to cover my eyes
