helena bonham carter is probably one of the most gifted actors i have ever had the pleasure of watching. she really made me hate and pity bellatrix lestrange to the bottom of my heart especially in the order of the phoenix.
when she casted that spell and it struck sirius it pans to her and at first you see shock and sadness and almost grief. she knows she just killed a man. not just any man– her cousin. and that one and a half seconds you can see the real bellatrix break through. not bellatrix lestrange, member of a blood purist family. not bellatrix lestrange the death eater. its bellatrix lestrange, the poor woman who has been jailed in her own body, murderer of her own cousin. and just as quickly as she broke through, she drowns again into her own madness. she’s a monster. but she’s not incapable of feeling remorse. she does, however, let herself kill again and again that’s what makes her evil.
harry’s muted scream was heartbreaking, but that split second grief shattered me.
