Hi everyone! I'm not sure if this is the correct way to promote blogs but it's worth a try. About 9 months ago I made a post about my careers and interests to give to my family on r/thoughts or r/randomthoughts (https://www.reddit.com/r/Thoughts/comments/lgpzku/its_worth_a_shot_but_give_me_your_honest_opinion/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share) . It was a short summary about what I would like to do with my life at 28 years old that includes a list of job opportunities in the United States or worldwide. Without a doubt I was surprised by the aftermath as my whole family was proud of what I wrote on the document and they support me no matter what. If anyone wants to read it fill free to message me. One of my interests is to create a blog that focuses on Filipino American, Filipino, or American musicality or inspiring stories who I know or want to know. I somehow manage to create content based on what I know and like to do with the blog. However, I would like to point out this blog that I created is a side hobby of mine that I would like to enjoy in my free time. I just wanted to know if someone would like to give me tips or advice on how to make my blog more recognizable or attract the younger audience as well. The Draw-Your-Faves-For-A-Week Challenge!
One of my best friends and I came up with this for practice! You can do this challenge traditionally or digitally, and you can post whatever you’d like from it, or nothing at all.
Rules!:
- Make a numbered list of all your favorite characters! Order does not matter, just make sure each one has a number assigned to it.
- Randomly generate four numbers.
- Each of these numbers will be the characters you have to doodle this week! You’ll doodle one on Monday, one on Tuesday, one on Wednesday, and one on Thursday. ((I have to emphasize doodle, though; don’t put a whole lot of effort into making something pretty and colorful, just sketch the character a bunch and don’t worry about proportions or clean lines or anything.)) I recommend using a sketchbook for this project so you have a page with a set size to work with, but you can set your own limits regarding how much you draw the character, especially if you choose to do it digitally. Oh, and if you do go with digital work, save all of these doodles!
- If you forget a day or you don’t feel up for it, just go back the next day and sketch the character shrugging. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It’s no big deal~ Even though it’s a challenge, I don’t want this to become super stressful.
- Sometime during the week, before Friday, decide on a single word to use as a theme. As an example, the ones I have used were “sharp,” “funky,” “home,” and “sassy”. Ideally, you should pick words that can be interpreted in multiple ways.
- Starting on Friday and ending on Monday, draw a more refined picture with more effort using one of the four characters you got that week and the theme word you picked earlier. Pick whichever character of the four you want! You have the whole weekend to work on this.
- You’re done!! Great work! It’s up to you if you decide to keep the project going. I decided to run with it for a month and repeated the process four times (four weeks).
