honey for healing

As some of you may know, I am getting married to my best friend of 8 years. We are paying for everything ourselves and finding it a tiny bit overwhelming. If you could possible donate or spread the word, I would be INCREDIBLY thankful! Even just a tiny itsy bitsy donation will get you a holiday thank you card in return!!!

hey you guys!! obviously there’s some upsetting news going around, and it might be a little difficult to be online right now for some of you.

here is a masterpost of resources to distract or cheer yourself up. if you are at all triggered by this news, taking care of yourself should take first priority to participating in the worldwide outpouring of grief.

it's okay if being happy doesn't feel like a choice you have, or a choice you can make right now. it's okay if it feels like the path to happiness feels blocked by a door, a heavy locked door, or even a solid wall.

if this is how you're feeling, try focusing on the things that do feel like choices. you can choose to splash cold water on your face. you can choose to put on a song and scream the words at the top of your lungs. you can choose to turn on the lights around you. you can choose to keep breathing, keep staying alive.

you have so many choices, even if it feels like the best choices are out of your reach. you are not trapped. repeat after me: i am not trapped. i am free. i am free. i am free.

a step outside

so, what is the weather like today? is it hot and sunny? unbearably humid? raining, on the verge of raining? it's hot where I am, but not as hot as it could be, so i feel pretty lucky. going outside on days where only the inside feels safe can be hard. even on days where the inside doesn't feel so safe, we can get tunnel vision and can't even imagine that by merely changing our surroundings-- by merely going outside-- things can feel even a little bit lighter, a little more bearable.

today, try going outside for a while. even five minutes. if it's raining (or snowing!) maybe only two or three. if even this feels unbearable, no matter the weather, try thirty seconds. close your eyes and count them off inside, one, two, three...

a change in our surroundings is sometimes all we need to clear our heads, and regain our footing.

tonight, try spending some time with yourself. try listening to your body if it starts to ache. maybe it is already aching. try quelling that ache. does it ache physically or is the ache something else? no matter, the first step in treating all aches, no matter what they are, is this: pay attention to it. acknowledge this ache. stretch your legs. stretch your arms. stretch your back. drink a glass of water. breathe in. one...two...three. now, breathe out one...two....three...four...five. do this again and again. slow breathing in, even slower breathing out. guess what? your blood is becoming happy, filled with life and air. your body is so glad to have you, keeping it alive and holding on as tight as you are. you did a great job today. as far as your body is concerned, you did a full day's work. congratulations.
