wanderlust

I love running on autumn days and hiking through the woods. I want to explore the world and climb every peak it has to offer, but I also love laying in bed and writing while listening to the falling rain.  wandering
You don’t know anyone at the party, so you don’t want to go. You don’t like cottage cheese, so you haven’t eaten it in years. This is your choice, of course, but don’t kid yourself: it’s also the flinch. Your personality is not set in stone. You may think a morning coffee is the most enjoyable thing in the world, but it’s really just a habit. Thirty days without it, and you would be fine. You think you have a soul mate, but in fact you could have had any number of spouses. You would have evolved differently, but been just as happy. You can change what you want about yourself at any time. You see yourself as someone who can’t write or play an instrument, who gives in to temptation or makes bad decisions, but that’s really not you. It’s not ingrained. It’s not your personality. Your personality is something else, something deeper than just preferences, and these details on the surface, you can change anytime you like. If it is useful to do so, you must abandon your identity and start again. Sometimes, it’s the only way.

my little teddy bear is finally getting his dental procedure tomorrow! it took us months to get him healthy enough for anesthesia - he’s gained 63% of the weight he was when we adopted him! and all his fur has grown back!/all his bacterial infections are gone. due to his kidney failure, liver failure, and heart abnormalities, it’s still a risk to put him under. but the vets think it’s worth the risk because his teeth cause him so much pain. so here’s hoping he’ll be a whole lot more comfortable after tomorrow. send him good vibes <3

Was feeling inspired by all of @mountains–and–miles and @musingsoflulu’s posts lately to find myself some trails to run on

This week has been a LOT and I was feeling really exhausted this morning so I wanted to do something to make my run a little more exciting. Finally decided to check out a state park that I’ve been eyeing for awhile (as per @runner-vs-theworld’s suggestion this summer) and I am sOo glad I went.

Spent 7 miles out on the trails and I was reminded once more how much I love trail running. It’s my perfect form of meditation- it’s hard to dwell on other things when you’re hopping from rock to rock or watching out for tree roots. You are here and now, something that I often tend not to be.

Can’t wait to feed this fire more and more in the coming years. West coast trails I’m coming for ya (in 1.5 years).

Final long run, done. Banana bread and hot coffee at the ready. Cloudy, perfect October day. Sweatpants on. Lots of homework to be done and vegan chili to be made.

8 days until NYC :,)
