Instead of a bouquet, why not a rooted trimming from your garden in a temporary pot?

Growing plants and getting buds for all of your friends from your favorites, or from specific plants that remind you of them.

Wedding gifts that are just garden starters: fruit tree cuttings and tomato plants and potted herb gardens for the new family.

It would be a really cool way to share your passion and energy, and your gifts would be living and present in their life. Each plant might remind you of the person who gave it to you, which could serve as connection and memory and even memorial. Additionally, it would communize gardening more, which is always good.

At a memorial for a friend’s father we were given ziplock bags of strawberry cuttings. He had worked as a horticulturist for many years, and had created quite a few varieties of strawberries and raspberries bred for our northwest climate. This summer we planted the totem strawberries and they are growing like crazy. Even though I didn’t know him very well, it’s great that his work still grows and is enjoyed :)
