Someone made an engagement map for TERF tweets

Yโ€™all in the notes please be mindful when you say stuff like โ€œitโ€™s time to kill the British.โ€ The people suffering the most from British transphobia are....British trans people.

^^^^^ for serious. British trans folks rarely get to transition at all, and when they don't they're often denied any social transition period. TERFs in the UK aren't here to start laws against people in America, they're trying and succeeding to kill off trans people in the UK. This really isn't the situation to cram on the brits to look and feel better about yourself... the trans body count is tremendous over there. Please have some respect for the people actually effected.

Please do keep this in mind. As much as I find the anti-British memes funny, this is a genuine issue in the UK.

Iโ€™m a trans man in the UK, Iโ€™ve been on the waiting list to be diagnosed for just over 2 years now, and am expected to wait around another 2 years before I get my first appointment (if the wait time doesnโ€™t increase). I will then wait around 2 more years (at the very least) for my second appointment, and if Iโ€™m very lucky and am diagnosed in that appointment (which is not guaranteed in the slightest), Iโ€™ll enter another waiting list to access healthcare. The service Iโ€™m in is considered around average. There are people waiting 6 years for their first appointment in other services, so I am incredibly lucky with my supportive family (in that I havenโ€™t been kicked out or abused, parents still donโ€™t respect pronouns or name) and I have good friends who respect me, as well as only waiting 4 years for a first appointment.

Maybe you could go private if you had the money, right? Go a similar route to trans people in the US? A diagnosis from a private practice can be rejected by your General Practitioner, and any referral you get for hormones or surgery can be completely dismissed, because you werenโ€™t diagnosed by an NHS practice. You would likely have to go entirely private, which is not possible for thousands of trans people who rely on the NHS. This is an issue within the NHS and a completely lack of funding and training for trans healthcare, resulting in horrifically long wait time and difficult to access help, especially given doctors and surgeons have and are having their practices shut down because they arenโ€™t considered proper by the NHS, despite being one of very very few who commit to this kind of work.

The transphobia in the UK runs far deeper than just tweets, and combining the aggressively transphobic attitude of a large portion of the population with the lack of healthcare due to wait times and difficulties with funding, you set up an incredibly difficult and dangerous position for trans people. Maybe this sounds like a bunch of complaints and nothing to people in the US, but people here are dying as a result of this. Please do keep this in mind when making anti-UK memes surrounding specifically transphobia.

also, our wait times for HRT have gone up to 6 years through the NHS.

There are officially English asylum seekers in places like New Zealand now because other countries have acknowledged that it is genuinely unsafe for trans people to stay in this country.

Also you need to understand that while engagement in Britain is off the charts it is NOT because there are a lot of transphobes - polls show brits are MORE accepting generally in fact. What this is actually showing is the small and completely insane network of online terfs in the UK who dedicate unfathomable amounts of time and energy solely to driving up engagement on transphobic content, the numbers are unbelievable. Britain is not a place full of transphobes, it's a place with very dedicated transphobes who have the backing of the government and a certain outrageously wealthy and bigoted author.

wylan is the definition of the duality of man. he is adorable and cute and seemingly so innocent with his curls and his big eyes and his flute and everything, but heโ€™s actually this badass motherfucker who makes bombs and threatens to push people in canals and im not surprised jesper is head over heels for him bc i would be too.

we stan wylan van eck in this household. reblog if you also stan our king our savior our musical madman wylan van fucking eck

Truly surprised anytime i see someone upset that Jesper and Wylan donโ€™t have a slow-burn in the show. Iโ€™m realizing this is a hot take, but I want more fast-burns. โ€œWill they/wonโ€™t theyโ€ can be great, but it has to match characterization, and aging up the Crows would absolutely change how Jesper and Wylan get together.

Kaz and Inej make sense to slow-burn โ€” they both have some level of touch aversion, extreme trust issues, and โ€œIโ€™m an island i donโ€™t need anyoneโ€ syndrome.

But Jesper and Wylan? Jesper is fully sexually active in both the books and the show, but being sexually active in your 20s is vastly different than as a teenager. He knows what he likes and goes for it and has been doing that for years. Wylan is only like 15 in the books and super inexperienced - but heโ€™s always had that secretly-confident, slightly-unhinged streak. In this alternate universe, heโ€™s had an extra almost-decade for those traits to grow before meeting the Crows โ€” he knows *so* much more about himself.

Wylan isnโ€™t shy, heโ€™s reserved. Thereโ€™s a difference โ€” itโ€™s not a lack of confidence, his confidence is just quiet. Wylan hits me so hard as a relatable queer character because he plays the game of gently feeling out interest - when we meet him heโ€™s sussing out if Jesper is still interested, and I imagine when they first met he did the โ€œiโ€™m going to signal to you iโ€™m queer and hope you signal backโ€ dance that happens when youโ€™re trying to figure out if hitting on someone in a queer context will be received well or not.

But as soon as Wylan gets the go-ahead that Jesper is interested, heโ€™s all confidence. He was just waiting for the explicit permission to go for it. Both times in the show when we see Jesper and Wylan start to get hot and heavy, Wylan is the one who initiates.

So in the show we have two sexually active adults who are attracted to each other, who arenโ€™t afraid to go for what they want once they get a positive social queue, and who live in a super dangerous place with a โ€œlive fast, die youngโ€ mentality. Anything other than them jumping each other the first night they met wouldnโ€™t make sense.

And then we get to see the meat of their relationship! The conflict isnโ€™t โ€œtension bc they want to boneโ€ the conflict is โ€œthey need to learn to communicate and be on the same page and figure out if they can make this workโ€ which imo is infinitely more interesting for these two characters.

it's amazing how ordinary objects can become so significant to only the owner

when my aunt's best friend passed away, my younger brother was four years old. at his funeral, my brother went up to her and gave her a nickel. he told her very solemnly that it would make her feel better. she smiled for the first time in days, and tucked it in her wallet.

when my brother was 22, his best friend passed away unexpectedly. my aunt drove three hours to be there for him at the funeral. she went up to my brother, gave him a big hug, and then gave him a nickel. it was the same nickel; she had kept it in her wallet for 18 years, and now it's on a necklace that he never takes off.

what i'm trying to say is that the love you put into the world will always find its way back to you.

One of the best weeks of this year so far. Got to see The Lumineers live in Berlin which was amazing. Went to a birthday dinner for one of my best friends and attended at surprise party. Life can still be good ๐Ÿฅน๐Ÿฉต

The final part of my ramblings about deleted Wesper scene (here are part 1 and part 2)

'Yes. Yes. Yes, I will. I will move in with you'

'Yes. Yes, I will. I will be by your side. I will let myself come to harm for you. I will be true, and caring, and loyal, and yours. Whatever your own Datura Meloxia things are, I will stand with you in front of them all'. Cheesy you say? Your quarrel is with Jack Wolfe`s face, not with me. And with the rest of him as well - the way he follows Jesper`s movements with his whole body, like he`s a sunflower and Jesper`s the Sun, may be the cause of my unrealistically high relationship standards now:)

Wylan`s feelings manifest themselves loud and clear even when he`s facing away from the camera:

His nervous swallow when for a split second he thinks that Jesper is really having second thoughts - and his fondly exasperated little sigh when he recognizes Jesper`s anxious rambling for what it is. Jack is truly the actor who Acts.

And the way he kisses Jesper -

'It`s fine. I`m here. I`m not asking you for more than you can give. But otherwise you`re stuck with me, Jesper Fahey, - I know you, and I`m not going anywhere'.
