Reblog to do that to the person you reblogged it from <3
polish government has opened a website for ukrainians seeking safety and trying to cross the ukrainian-polish border:
ua.gov.pl
as of 13:10 polish time, it has been said as many people as possible will be let through the borders. they are also supposed to let through children who do not have passports, as to not divide families.
Polish person here, I've been on the website, it looks legit! Adding the full link here:
Information is available in Polish, Ukrainian, Russian and English
Please get the help available!
Other people, please boost this!!!!
Gov.pl is a legit website connected to the polish government i use it to look at tax info and school stuff (it has the lessons for the teachers written out) and driving license info. So this is legit!!!
Ukrainian friends, you can also cross the border to Slovakia, with or without a passport, or at least that's the latest update from our Ministry of Interior. You must prepare yourselves for waiting in lines as they check every individual vehicle upon entering (waiting times according to our news are hours long because of shitty capacities but hopefully after today the officials will figure out a more effective system). If anybody has a link too, I'd be grateful as I haven't found anything useful prior to adding to the post. I hope you all stay safe.
I was initially planning on being a casual fan, but then I thought, why not just let it consume my soul instead?
You know how there’s that one Discworld novel where some peasant’s family keeps getting sick because his outhouse is located too near to his well? And Tiffany Aching tries over and over to convince him that needs to move his well by explaining the germ theory of disease and the idea of a water table, and it just doesn’t work? And then Granny Weatherwax shows up and just tells him that he’s sick because his well is haunted by evil spirits, so he immediately digs a new well?
Well I’m starting to think that maybe we ought to be adopting a “headological” approach to public health and environmentalism.
I think the moment that convinced me the operating logic of our society is truly fucked in a way that cannot merely be reformed was after that eclipse in 2017 when the articles started coming out about how much money had been lost by productivity dropping from people stopping momentarily to watch it happen. To measure the world by the metric of the dollar to such a devotion that any cult leader would be jealous of that you would look at one of the most sublime experiences in nature which we, our ancestors, and even a not insignificant number of non-human species, have been observing in awestruck wonder for millennia, and decide that such a moment of profundity is something to be fought and preferably expunged from the human experience because it briefly impacts quarterly revenue.
It’s a feeling that has been coming up repeatedly, but with increasing frequency in the last few years. That being: what is all of this for? Where are we going? Nobody who defends the status quo can seem to answer it. What’s the point of an uninterrupted quarterly revenue stream if we can’t even look at an eclipse every few years? What’s the point of hustling and grinding 50, 60, 70 hour weeks if you never have time to have dinner with your friends, talk to your family on the phone, but on a bigger spectrum, what’s the point of all of that if you still don’t have any way of retiring in the future? With the way that our lives are being increasingly monetized and squeezed every second, what is there to look forward to?

I had a breakfast with Martin Freeman today. I mean, we ate breakfast at the same hotel restaurant and I didn't realise he was there, just noticed him when I was leaving.
I don't have pics, I didn't have my phone.
Hi guys, let me introduce you to Allegro* and Baginski project: Legendy Polskie (Polish Legend). This one’s my second favourite right now (the new one is better I think)
I recommend checking the rest of those short films. Its a new, interesting rendition of Polish (and not only) stories we know from childhood :) Also this showed me that Polish cinematography can be much better then it is. Also music is really cool, and there’re covers of old Polish songs (like 70s, 80s, 90s..)
Here’s a list - I thought they’re few unrelated films, but it actually begins to connect as a one story - I can’t wait to see the rest!
- The Dragon
- Twardowsky
- Twardowsky 2.0 (+video clip to music from the film)
- Operation Basilisk (+video clip)
- Jaga (+video clip)
All should have English subs.
