must we really do this........they switch between calling jerusalem a christian city and a muslim city seemingly regardless of the ruling power at the time and although denoting the significance to both groups is important, notably absent are. how to say this. the people who first built the city as it is currently known at its earliest point in history and significantly populated it throughout history with the exception of times in which doing so would result in being Killed To Death

we fought alongside the muslims in eretz yisrael—i choose to use here the name we've always known it by amongst ourselves and do not intend for my wording to have political implications—at which time we had about fifty notable communities in different cities including jerusalem, teveriah, ramla, ashkelon, keysariah, and gaza. after the crusades, we were left with, as far as i know, possibly the smallest jewish population in the land in verifiable history. the crusades define the ashkenazi jewish diaspora, period. they define our attitude of fear of our neighbors and the specific fear of europeans that's still prevalent in more traditional communities. the crusades arguably had both direct and indirect impacts on modern political zionism's original anti-religious and existential-fear-based doctrines (which became.......theocratic ethnonationalism, which was surprisingly predictable).

we haven't escaped their shadow, and we can't begin to understand how to without learning about them. do with this what you will.

I hate people who encourage underage girls on this site to share their bodies. Please report it to tumblr support if you see this. It’s not about “dobbing” people in, it’s a legal issue and is harmful to minors.

Listen if I want to fucking send a nude to my boyfriend of over a year I fucking will I’m pretty god damn sure the government doesn’t have my phone tapped.

the government literally does have your phone tapped… and if you break up with your boyfriend he can ruin your life with those pictures… long story short don’t send underage nudes

if you’re not mature enough to recognize this post as a message to help protect you and educate you then you’re not mature enough to send those nudes in the first place no matter how long you’ve been with your partner. if you view this post as something offensive rather than informative then you need to sit down and think about that. think real hard.

Also note that this isn’t just some hypothetical scaremongering post—there are multiple cases of teenagers who have been arrested, jailed and even put on the sex offender registry for this. It’s a very real danger that could absolutely ruin you life if you’re caught with these pictures of yourselves on your phone or if you send them to someone else who is caught with them on their phone or who, even worse, posts them publicly online.

I’ve had to have this conversation with my boys and my pathfinders, and let me tell you, they don’t respond very well to a lecture.

So let me tell you a story instead.

There was a young couple, in high school and in love. Both sixteen - above the age of consent. They’d been dating for years and felt secure in their relationship. So they’d sext each other - including sending nudes.

It was consensual, they didn’t share the pictures with anyone else, they were a longtime couple, and they were old enough to be having sex (according to the law).

But someone figured out they were sending them. And told the principal, who had to report it to the authorities.

Both of these kids went to jail. He, for possession of child pornography, and her for distribution. Even though it was perfectly legal for them to be as naked as they wanted in person.

This is very real. Here’s a 14-year-old who Snapped a classmate. Here’s a best case scenario, but the numbers are still crazy. Brief news article warning. A girl reports her nudes being shared past the intended recipient, still gets charged. Consensual video reported after friendship ended, 16-year-old girl charged for making it. Just a whole bunch of kids being charged. Teen couple charged with sexually exploiting themselves.

ok there’s a video going around of someone advising protesters on how to stop a horse should they find themselves up against mounted police but the advice they give is just…literally shit that will get people killed i feel like i have to pick it apart

“i am not a horse trainer, i’ve just been around horses my whole life” SHOULD give you enough warning to not take this person’s advice, like. i don’t give a fuck if that’s gatekeepy to you or whatever but that really sums up why you shouldn’t be listening to their advice in the context of these protests. you cannot make light of the situation, and as an extension, do not settle for who is giving you advice

“push your weight against their chest” what’s missing here is either a lack of understanding of what makes horses so powerful, or a lack of context given depending on what that horse is even doing. a horse moving towards you at any sort of speed is not going to be deterred by you trying to place pressure on it. you’re gonna be mush before that horse even registers you’re even there, particularly with all the stimulation of a crowd and having to listen to its rider through that.

“some horses are trained to ignore their natural instinct” YES. GUESS WHICH HORSES. SPECIFICALLY. ARE TRAINED. TO IGNORE THEIR INSTINCTS? a police horse is not going to listen to you, a person out of hundreds or even thousands surrounding them, because you want to try and lean against their withers or something. not stationary, and definitely not at speed. your own pet horse, or your favourite horse at the stables you ride at, is NOT analogous to a horse conditioned into being used as a weapon. would you look at a police dog and think, “well fluffy back home listens to me when i tug on his collar a bit, surely this police dog will respond the same way and not rip my arm to shit if i do the same thing”? 

if you see this video going around i IMPLORE you to report the shit out of it, this is the kind of video that gets people killed. i wouldn’t try this shit with someone else’s domestic horse, i dread to think what would happen if someone took this advice against one of the behemoths ridden by the cops. it’s ignorant both in terms of horse training and protest, and it’s dangerous to the point where it can get people killed. 

here’s the real advice on how to use your body to stop mounted police: you fucking DON’T

An organization dedicated to helping LGBT people escape state sponsored violence.
