The number of children killed in Gaza since 7 October has now surpassed the annual number of children killed across the world's conflict zones since 2019, according to the charity Save the Children.

At least 3,195 children have been reported killed in Gaza from Israeli air strikes, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. That's more than the number of children killed in armed conflicts across more than 20 countries around the world over the course of a whole year, for the previous three years.

"Three weeks of violence have ripped children from families and torn through their lives at an unimaginable rate. The numbers are harrowing and with violence not only continuing but expanding in Gaza right now, many more children remain at grave risk," Jason Lee, Save the Children's director in the occupied Palestinian territories, said in a statement.

"One child’s death is one too many, but these are grave violations of epic proportions. A ceasefire is the only way to ensure their safety. The international community must put people before politics—every day spent debating is leaving children killed and injured. Children must be protected at all times, especially when they are seeking safety in schools and hospitals."

Palestinian Health ministry publishes names of 7,028 killed after Biden questions death toll

The Palestinian health ministry has released names of 7,028 people killed, a day after Joe Biden questioned the death toll of those killed in Gaza. 

The ministry published a 210 page report detailing names, age, gender and the ID number of every person killed in the enclave. 

Between 7 October and 3pm local time on 26 October, 7,028 Palestinians were killed, including 2,913 children. 

3,129 of those killed were women, while 3,899 were men. The number of unidentified people within the death toll stands at 218. 

The report does not include people missing under the rubble, those buried without being brought to a hospital, and those for whom hospitals were unable to complete registration procedures. 

As such, the ministry said the actual death toll is likely to be much higher than the report stated. 

Health ministry spokesperson Ashraf al-Qudra said the US administration was "devoid of human standards, morals and basic human rights values" for "shamelessly" questioning the validity of the death toll. 

"We decided to go out and announce, with details and names, and in front of the entire world, the truth about the genocidal war committed by the Israeli occupation against our people," he said. 

"We confirm that the doors of the Ministry of Health are open for all institutions to have access," Qudra added. 

"Let the world know that behind every number is the story of a person whose name and identity are known. Our people are not nobodies who can be ignored."

My heart goes out to the healthcare workers still working 24/7 in Gaza, they literally have to suppress all the trauma they're experiencing by having to prioritize certain patients at the risk of others due to lack of supplies & fuel
