the "It ain't much but it's honest work" farmer passed away :(
Here's an article from last year about his life and work and his reaction to being a meme:
Caesar Flickerman - every time Katniss mentions him in the entire Hunger Games trilogy, she says how good he is as a host and interviewer. How he spins anything you say into an engaging story for the audience. How he creates chemistry with his subjects and also makes it entertaining to watch.
Lucky Flickerman - a glorified weatherman who for some reason brought a depressed parrot to do the commentary with him and then just ended up doing a voice for the parrot on national tv when it wouldn't cooperate
dr who’s on first, doctor strange is on second and doctor house is on third. theres no way theyre getting through a single inning
so who’s on first?
That’s right 👍🏻
that’s strange
No, he’s on second.
Well how’s he on second if he’s on first?
No no no, House is on third. Second base is Strange.
Well this whole darn thing is strange but what I’m asking is who’s on first?
Naturally.
Naturally.
So Naturally is the first baseman?
No. The first baseman is Who.
Well I don’t know that so how’s about you tell me?
House is on Third.
I’m not asking you about third base I’m asking you about first base.
Who’s on first!
This is horrible
Dr Horrible is the pitcher, not first base
That’s not what I’m asking about! No!
Dr No is in the outfield, but let’s not worry about them right now.
Just thought I'd share this song I found with you guys.
The line “and it wasn’t a prescription for me” is so funny to me bc I just envision johnny and doc carm sitting like on a countertop eating ice cream while johnny rants about how his life sucks and then carm points at johnny with her spoon and goes “you gotta kill that jack guy man”
Forever obsessed with Kaz/Inej and faith. The themes and motifs. Always thinking about "nothing has ever watched over me like you have" always thinking about how Kaz never believed in anything but people, whether it's the dependability of their greed or the very few he trusts to stand by him, with Inej above everyone else. Inej as an invisible protective force he just knows will be there. Inej's faith in the saints vs Kaz's cynicism vs Kaz's faith in Inej. She's the most he's worshipped anything since the stock market. The intricacies of the power dynamics with him vehemently defending her freedom while playing the role of the boss, largely in her defense. The loyalty of it all. He'd sleep at the foot of her bed if he thought she'd let him. I think I lost my train of thought somewhere but you know what I'm talking about
The way he scoffs at her insistence that there's something holy in this world but I'm Certain he loves that about her because Inej Is His Moral Compass. He might disagree with her but she demonstrably grounds him. Any time she's gone he immediately loses his shit. Because she is the good that's left in his world. Do you understand
More pics from @DrewG7 in honor of #BULLETS20! These were taken at Club Krome on Halloween 2003.
Reportedly the crowd were given vampire fangs upon entry 🧛♂️ and this was the first time they played Early Sunsets live!
i told my mom about the “sorry about your bf” memes a week or so ago and she’s obsessed with them she loves your boyfriend so much she’s constantly putting him in crazy scenarios and absolutely loving it
she had a dream last night that she was a waitress and she was pouring water into a girl’s cup for her and saw a bug in it and was like “oh no i’m so sorry there’s a bug in your water” and the girl was like “oh no it’s fine that’s just my boyfriend” and then picked him up by the back of his shirt and pulled him out of the water and he was coughing and sputtering
she said the girl set him down on the table while my mom kept apologizing to her and she was just like “oh it’s fine it happens all the time he’ll dry off no worries”
Hey so we told my mom about your boyfriend. Yeah she's been putting him in scenarios and situations ever since. Yeah sorry she's not been this into something in years, sorry.
no bc she’s literally texting me abt your boyfriend from the church pew mid sermon she can’t get him off of her mind he’s like a little plaything to her
A friend once said to me "I feel like I'm not actually working at my job because there's so little to do" and I was like "the way I see it, if you can't sleep and you can't jerk off, you're at work no matter what".
And I just realized this gives me a new perspective on homelessness. There's a certain baseline amount of labor you're expected to do in public, finding places to exist unobtrusively, moving when the cops tell you to. No one is ever truly "off the clock" until they're in their own home, if they have one.
I'm sure Michel Foucault or somebody wrote about this long before I did.
Or to put it another way, if home is the "first place" and work is the "second place" then the removal of third places from society means that if you don't have a first place everywhere defaults to being a second place
If existing in public is a job then police are the managers, and calling the cops on someone for sleeping in public is, in effect, snitching on a fellow worker. I guess this functions as an explanation for why police unions "don't count".
I work at a movie theater and this happened last week
oh that just ain't fair
I think we all forget she was 12 when she was crowned
