One struggle 🫡
if we keep getting fatter and hornier we can abolish all world militaries by 2026
I remember being in first grade and this white boy asked me why I wear "normal" clothes if I'm Indian and don't Indians only wear feathers? So yes I do think first graders need more awareness about race
Also Sesame Street was made by a bunch of hippies that loved puppets and educators that were trying to reach in-city kids (particularly kids of color) who didn't have access to good education resources.
Sesame Street has specifically addressed racism and other forms of socially oppressive orders since the beginning. Once again Rave Dubin is a moron.
i’m reeling over this ad to where i can’t even think of anything funny to say about it
Perfect way to describe Ross

i've never seen a movie about autism i can relate to.
99% of autism movies always portray either:
- man or child who's obsessed with sciene/math
- low support needs woman with many friends, dresses up, goes to parties, can mask well
while many autistic people can relate to these, i personally can't. i'm assigned female at birth and was late diagnosed at 15 due to no one around me knowing much about autism/the belief that only boys have autism/having average intelligence, despite me being very obviously on the spectrum. i'm a moderate support needs adult, can't go out alone in public or drive, have intense special interests that my life revolves around, barely have any friends, can't go to parties or large social gatherings in general, extreme sensory issues, can't leave the house without noise cancelling headphones/sunglasses... etc etc. only reason i went so long without being diagnosed is because i got traumatised into masking my more "annoying" and "disruptive" behaviours, and my speech is normal. literally everyone who meets me can tell that i'm not normal, even if their first guess isn't necessarily autism.
what i'm trying to say, we never see the "middle" thing for autism representation. it's always either someone who's like a super genius and pretty much low support needs, or someone who's very impacted/struggles a lot and high support needs. autism is a spectrum and all of us should feel seen. no matter if low, moderate or high support needs, we all deserve to be respected and valued...!!!
and as a moderate support needs autistic, you might have a hard time relating to either, because you're stuck in the weird middle. you don't really see "your type" of autism represented in media, because only the low and high support needs "type" of autism gets shown. your autism is "too intense" to relate to low support needs autistics, but not "intense enough" to relate to high support needs autistics.
... i hope what i'm saying makes sense?? i'm not the best at finding the right words for this kind of stuff. i hope other moderate support needs autistics find this post and can relate to it.
i’ve never seen a
movie about autism
i can relate to.
Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.

there currently is a sea otter attacking surfers in my home town and stealing their surfboards
everyone's got that one homie who zealously adheres to his inflexible code of honor even though it has long since become a burden to him
do you all remember in the early 2010s where people were talking about freeing the nipple and that mixed-gender sports should become a thing and the removal of period tax and all of that and then some people realised that would mean trans people too ans they instantly decided to revert to bioessentialism 101 and now i have to see grating sentences like Well maybe jeopardy should be gender-segregated because males have a biological advantage in pressing a button
Hey, @the-rain-on-your-dandelions, has anyone told you that you’re a genius? That’s an incredible system. I wish I had a friend group that could function for!
I could see this working for dinners, too
it’s like the Mom Friend Anxiety Hack, but for chores.
this is how a society is supposed to function. this is the norm we’ve all forgotten
This is a great idea 💡
You know. Some people could really stand to get more comfortable with the idea of “you shouldn’t say that because it’s mean”. Especially with really common body shaming and straight up bullying lines.
“You shouldn’t make ugly bald jokes because what if a transman on T sees it!”
“You shouldn’t make virgin jokes because what if someone who’s asexual sees it!”
How about you just don’t make them because they’re mean. How about people can be balding or a virgin for a number of reasons and also don’t deserve to be routinely made fun of. How about saying that the reason you shouldn’t make x joke because it spares x specific identity’s feelings also let’s them know that you actually have no problem saying or thinking bald people are ugly or virgins are stupid or etc but you’re just not saying it in front of them. How about you understand this kind of body shaming and bullying especially in a very public setting online are always going to have way more unintended damage to people who did nothing wrong than damage to the person you’re upset with.
Sometimes the best reason to not make a bad joke like that is because it’s fucking mean.
so like. obviously it's an immensely tragic route to take but sometimes it's just so satisfying for a story to go "there's no happy ending this time. resistance is futile in this scenario. the 'good guys' can't win. this is a pointless last stand. so for their final act, our beloved characters are going to rock the antagonist's shit so fucking hard it makes you stare at a wall struggling to process what just happened and how you feel about it for hours afterwards."
i simply think that sometimes it's the best possible narrative decision to allow characters to become supernovas, imploding on themselves but taking as much with them as possible. "you can't save anyone" "maybe not, but i can hurt you". fuck yes. if you can't beat them, tear them apart.
i dont know how else to put this but to approach books (or any media, really) solely for the sake of relatability is genuinely incredibly heartbreaking……to have such little (or such unwilling) imaginative scope that you cannot stretch yourself, even marginally, in a different direction to what you’ve known or are used to knowing when the very POINT of stories is to transport you somewhere else, into someone else, so you can do just that……..when fran lebowiz said a book “is supposed to be a door!” and george saunders said good prose “is like empathy training wheels” they were right!!! they were so so so SO absolutely entirely right!!!!!
“Im not dignifying that with a response” gets me every time. Im not acknowledging tht stupid ass shit
