I'm looking for a development buddy for the next installment in this series. I know where I'm going with this work, but starting it is proving difficult as I just hit the part that parallels Wizards and RotT - and I'm about to throw 90-95% of canon out the window.
Hi! Was curious if you have anything (prior posts I can't find or anything) concerning more details on the Power Rangers Grid Theory you and Sailor Solar were working with for fics like- a decade ago. Was just rereading some stuff and was curious about the color-roles... Not sure if that's something you're still interested in since it's been, well, a decade... but figured I'd see. Mostly got the idea of the Red/Blue/Yellow dynamics, but I wanted to hear more about the other colors if possible. Sorry for how sudden this is
Hi! This actually brightened my day!
You can find a more-or-less full explanation here. If you have more questions I can dig through my notes!
So somebody got a hospital in Gaza bombed, which killed ~500 people. Given the multinational intel collection effort currently aimed at this tiny piece of land, it should be possible to prove who did that.
The diameter of the bomb was thirty centimeters and the diameter of its effective range about seven meters, with four dead and eleven wounded. And around these, in a larger circle of pain and time, two hospitals are scattered and one graveyard. But the young woman who was buried in the city she came from, at a distance of more than a hundred kilometers, enlarges the circle considerably, and the solitary man mourning her death at the distant shores of a country far across the sea includes the entire world in the circle. And I won’t even mention the crying of orphans that reaches up to the throne of God and beyond, making a circle with no end and no God. (The diameter of the bomb, Yehuda Amichai)
A night drive to Ein Yahav in the Arava Desert, a drive in the rain. Yes, in the rain. There I met people who grow date palms, there I saw tamarisk trees and risk trees, there I saw hope barbed as barbed wire. And I said to myself: That's true, hope needs to be like barbed wire to keep out despair, hope must be a mine field.
(Ein Yahav, Yehuda Amichai; translation - Chana Bloch and Chana Kronfeld)
So on Sunday, Day 2 of this epic mess, about 600 Bedouin got on their SUVs and ATVs and went out to find the missing and the dead, because they know the terrain better than anyone. They did that without guns, because no-one would give them any. They did that even though their hometowns have no (legal) electricity, no running water and no bomb shelters. They did that because it was the right thing to have done.
Oh for fuck's sake. If fucking CNN could find the sat photos of Hamas' training camps, I would like to know which idiot colonel on our end decided that's nothing.
Be'eri had 1 Hamas combatants for every 10 civilians. A lot of those civilians were children and babies. The division CO who was there says that they found babies that had been shot.
There are at least 15 UAVs that just crossed from Lebanon to Israel. I sincerely hope that the bored 19yo jealous that their buddies down south are having all the action will have a nice target practice.
No sooner did the body-counting forces entered Kfar Aza, then the general responsible for the scene turned around and ordered the place be opened to the press immediately - because, and this is a quote, Kfar Aza might be worse from Be'eri. Current estimate is <100 survivors out of ~800.
Right now, the photos from both sides of the Gaza fence are very similar: grey dust that was someone's home, pools of dried blood, children without parents, parents without children.
I'm very tired of this.
We have hit and passed 900 killed. Fuck if I know how many injured. The kidnapped civilians and the POWs are in triple digits.
And the idiots up north in Lebanon decided they want in on the party. It's… mostly going to end badly for their neighbours.
Testimonies from survivors of the Be'eri massacre started coming out. I'm avoiding them on purpose; tldr ZAKA collected 108 dead bodies in under a day, and they are far from done. Then again, the Re'im massacre ground has over 240 bodies, and they're not done counting those also.
We don't actually know how many are dead. Upwards of 500 600 - but no one actually knows how many, yet. From the directions given to people looking for the missing, it seems that there are many yet-unidentified bodies. And, well; there are a lot of people kidnapped into Gaza, among them children and the elderly. I suspect that when we finally manage to take the tally, there's going to be several hundreds of those, too.
*sigh* Make that tonight. At least 200 killed, at least 1500 injured.
By tomorrow morning, we'll have more killed than in all of Second Lebanon. (Second Lebanon was 5 weeks.) Absolutely fucking no one in this country missed the words "prisoners of war", but there we are.
We're probably going to have to retake Gaza. The expected casualties from that are in numbers we haven't seen since before I was born.
Alive and unharmed. The rocket sirens went off in my time only once.
Personally, I think Hamas were really fucking stupid, because with Hamas incursion into undisputed Israeli territory, ~40 dead already (most or all of which aren't military), over ten times that in injured, we have enough credit to wreak pretty good havoc in Gaza before someone pulls the breaks. Particulary considering that our current government may be delicately described as "geopolitical pyromaniacs".

Toby’s plans for the summer did not include getting involved in another war. Then again, he also didn’t plan on suddenly having more friends than he could count on the fingers of one hand.
Aja and Krel, for their part, didn't plan on this many human allies.
