Beautiful Osferth and Uhtred moment <3 this was right after he killed skade to free himself of her curse.
Look at Uhtred looking all sad and wet and pathetic 🥺 why do his sleeves even go that long?
Poor guy how does he get anything done
Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you
(Fix you, Coldplay)
Just realized that the reason I love making friends on tumblr is because it’s exactly how you make friends on the playground as a six year old. No, I don’t know their name but they love mermaids too and built this awesome sand castle. No, I don’t know their age but their imaginary cheetah is friends with mine. You like this show? You like this character?? You can sing the theme song really loud??? Here is a flower crown. Here is a juice box. You can share my time and I might never see you again but part of you stays in my soul forever. In my mind we’re still on the swing set and the sky is blue and nothing will ever be wrong again.
The Wiggles always looked like they were wearing Starfleet uniforms, could you please put them on the enterprise where they belong
little-known tos fact: in every scene on the bridge, the wiggles are actually just out of frame
This site's tolerance and acquiescence to incest is so fucking insane like "I don't support it but my mutual is cool so I'll allow it" "richard siken's artistic contributions to society absolve him" "ethel cain can ship whatever, she's earned it" like I'm not going to lie to you it's kinda looking like you do support it...
this post is perfect because it hits that sweet spot of being able to destroy my notifications with pissed off people forever BUT also being controversial enough that people who agree with this won't reblog it either so it's never breaching containment and I live in peace
it is however totally okay to reblog btw
Good-faith question that will probably make you think I'm arguing in bad faith incoming.
Two out of three of the examples above were fictional. the outlier is the mutuals part, which seems purposefully unclear so you can prove your point.
Do you think that the literary device of incest - especially its rich history in horror, tragedy, and works exploring familial trauma - is equivalent to the actual, irl crime of incest?
Because it isn't. It really, really isn't.
I think that the glorification, positive sexualization of elements like incest, noncon and pedophilia in both media and fandom spaces have very tangible IRL consequences on people who consume it and those around them, but hey, ask any other victims of any of these, don't stick to one opinion.
I did not make this post about media where these elements are so clearly portrayed in a negative light. I believe we SHOULD talk about these topics and that the trauma of the victims SHOULD BE PORTRAYED IN MEDIA in order to raise awareness. These two are completely different things.
They should be easy to differentiate. There is a clear difference between "exploring dark topics" to evoke trauma and horror in the consumer, and using these elements in a way that is so clearly fetishist (i.e. shipping, which implies an undeniably positive sentiment toward the relationship).
Because they are not the same, they really, really aren't.
Have you eaten? He was like a father to you. It's going to be ok. We can't stay here. I love you. This is killing you. Come here. It's going to be aright.
The urge to bother my mutuals
reblog if it’s okay for your mutuals to bother you <3
yes I'm changing my pfp on everything to the same photo. I'm normal about this silly little man and his silly little leaf crown.
hes an old man to YOU to me hes a beautiful young maiden. and also an old man
haha that's a nice starry-eyed ambition you've got there buddy. sure hope the narrative doesn't warp it into something ruthless and all-consuming
tumblr staff have...
- allowed false flags of 100% sfw posts made by transfem users (and blacklisted trans-adjacent tags)
- taken away basic accessibility features in an effort to tiktok-ify tumblr
- pushed tumblr live, a feature users actively dislike which is mostly unused and overrun by spambots, that also collects all of your data
- allowed ads that can literally kill people via flashing / strobing lights, even if the person had it filtered, despite user complaints, with the ceo even saying people with epilepsy should "just buy ad free" in response to concern over potential death or serious injury from such ads
STOP GIVING THEM MONEY! stop trying to make crab day or whatever else happen. paying for stuff from the shop is rewarding them for ignoring the userbase continuously and doing things the majority don't want, even if the things they're doing and allowing can cause actual deaths. staff shouldn't be praised and get profit for ignoring their users in exchange for trying to turn tumblr into twitter 2 ft. tiktok. at this point i don't even care for "staff are people 🥺 be nice" arguments, because even when people are being very polite in feedback, they're perfectly fine ignoring it in exchange for implementing changes nobody wants or asked for, all because new users may like it more (and forget anyone who's used the site for years, apparently).
leave bad reviews. don't buy things from the shop. send feedback, even if they never reply. email them and @ the staff, send asks to the wip blog. don't just blindly buy into "we need to support the site, buy xyz shop product", they don't deserve more money for giving a worse product.
touching grass isn't enough some of y'all need to drive out to the countryside and look at the stars
this post was aimed at the discourse-addled and terminally online, but i'm glad it's reaching an audience of people who are just excited about stargazing in general
me: wish games had choices that actually mattered
me when games have choices that actually matter:
I am kind of surprised that "D&D: Honor Among Thieves" isn't getting as much [tumblr] love as it deserves. This is my contribution:
- Everyone involved-- writer, actor, director, wardrobe, camera, EVERYONE-- understood the assignment.
- There is no attempt to apologize for the fact that it's an ensemble fantasy comedy-adventure movie.
- The plot is clever without being Too Clever. All of the major twists are well-telegraphed, and while it surprises you in a couple of places, it doesn't try to shock you.
- Given that the archetypes of the fantasy genre came to us from Tolkein, Dungeons & Dragons, and Tolken-by-way-of-D&D, you will not need any context for the game and the lore that is not provided by the film itself. If you aren't familiar with the lore, there are no jokes or plot points you will miss.
- If you are familiar with the Lore, there are references galore, but they're not fan service, they're the byproduct of the fact that the movie is set in a known location in a richly developed world. For example, despite that the fact that it's set in Neverwinter, at no point do any characters utter the phrase "Neverwinter Nights".
- If there must be a negative comparison to the game, it's that no Dungeon Master alive could get a party to stick to the plot that well. They'd have gotten off track at the battlefield and the bard would have tried to seduce the Red Witch. Or everyone would have tried to adopt Themberchaud.
My mother, who understands D&D only as that loud nerd event which takes over the dining room four nights a month, loved the movie.
A fun game if you're into D&D is to spot every Nat 1 and Nat 20. There's a really funny Nat 1 that the sorc rolls mid way through and it's so fucking funny.
ALSO the website of "practical effects are superior" can have a field day with this movie. There are dragonborn, tabaxi AND arakockra characters that are majority practical effects, not CGI
