This is your reminder that telling rural queers to move to bigger cities or different countries because they are often more "queer friendly" is not a solution. There will always be queer people in rural towns, and not all of us want to leave our small towns. Those who do are probably stuck financially because, in case some of you don't know: relocating to a different city or country is fucking expensive.

F.D.A. Ends Ban on Blood Donations From Gay and Bisexual Men

“Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration finalized recommendations for assessing blood donor eligibility using a set of individual risk-based questions to reduce the risk of transfusion-transmitted HIV. These questions will be the same for every donor, regardless of sexual orientation, sex or gender.”

“This policy eliminates time-based deferrals and screening questions specific to men who have sex with men (MSM) and women who have sex with MSM. Under the final guidance issued today, all prospective blood donors will answer a series of individual, risk-based questions to determine eligibility. All prospective donors who report having a new sexual partner, or more than one sexual partner in the past three months, and anal sex in the past three months, would be deferred to reduce the likelihood of donations by individuals with new or recent HIV infection who may be in the window period for detection of HIV by nucleic acid testing.”

i genuinely think we should have more cross-gender acting in film. i think cis female actors should play cis male characters and vice versa without the characters’ masculinity or femininity being a joke and i think this ought to happen enough that it isn’t a big deal at all. cast timothee chalamet as marie antoinette he can pull it off. let gong li play an emperor. this will be good for everyone, especially me

Yall wanna be gnc and androgynous but hate intersex people and the idea of being intersex so much, I remember reading about PCOS potentially being considered an intersex disorder and having 100s of people dismiss it because "we can't just be calling 1 in 10 women intersex" or being in transmasc spaces and constantly being told that bottom growth and T dicks are undesirable and that people find non standard genetalia gross, in a GENDER INCLUSIVE SPACE.

The lgbt Community seriously needs to grapple with its hatred of intersex features and stop seeing androgyny that isn't pretty waify white person. You all love femme presenting androgyny but hate when people are androgynous in a broad or hairy way.

i really want to emphasize the fact that many of these recent bills aimed at denying trans minors gender-affirming care have special exceptions built in to allow for nonessential surgeries on intersex children. they want to make sure doctors can continue pressuring parents into putting their intersex kids through procedures that have no evidence of benefits and are well known to cause harm (cw on these articles for discussions of intersex medical abuse/trauma).

these bills are not designed to protect children, they're designed to eradicate sex and gender diversity. they want to force both trans and intersex people into their binary little boxes and it will do immense harm to both groups.

A bill was introduced in Texas classing everyone with a Y chromosome as male on their birth certificate. Beyond the obvious transphobia, this is fucking horrific for intersex people. There are many *cis* women with a Y chromosome. There are many people assigned female at birth with a Y chromosome. This is an attack on trans people, yes, but this is an attack on intersex people. This is forced, horrifying misgendering upon diagnosis that will hurt and kill intersex people.

I’m lucky I live in Canada, but I’m angry and upset and furious. Fuck this shit.

WE NEED MORE INTERSEX LOVE!!!!

❤️ Intersex trans girls who wanna go on T?? EPIC AS SHIT!!!!

🧡 Intersex trans boys who wanna go on E?? AMAZING!!!

💛 Intersex lesbians who label themselves men?? BEAUTIFUL!!!!

💚 Intersex gays who label themselves ladies?? PERFECTION!!!!

💙 Intersex folks who ID as gay and lesbian?? HOW LOVELY!!!!

💜 Intersex AFABS who are trans MTF and Intersex AMABS who are FTM?? BE PROUD OF YOURSELF!!!!

We all deserve love and validation, intersex people you are amazing regardless if you fit into boxes or not <33

the recent heavy focus on divulging assigned gender at birth and forcing strangers to disclose it or feeling obligated to disclose yours in order to not "invade territory you don't belong in" is alienating toward intersex people and creates barriers that we don't fit inside of and ultimately make us feel like we can't discuss our queer experiences without having to pick what agab is "closest" so we can be understood, which can be even more alienating

we collectively will work together better and be a more cohesive community once the focus on agab dies down. this is the community where we support one another for how we identify regardless of what our body looks like. let's move past the compulsory need to state our agabs, or ask strangers what theirs are. that's not what we're about, here. in reinforcing these boundaries, folks who can't possibly fit into them become alienated. it only helps us all to move past this practice. i don't need to know your agab. you don't need to know mine

Hi, um this is kind of a long shot but I'm currently trying to look into connections between NCAH and certain chronic illnesses and I'm just wondering if you might have any resources for that? I'm having a really hard time finding anything online because I'm not really that good at searching for things effectively.

I'm specifically trying to find out if there's any connections between NCAH and POTS, IBS, MCAS, EDS, and/or fibromyalgia.

If not that's fine, I'm not getting my hopes up. Either way I hope you're doing well 🙏

Hey anon!

This website says that adrenal gland disorders (which NCAH is) can affect and cause POTS! Basically, adrenal insufficiency can cause POTS, and Here's a post by someone with CAH and POTS. So literally, CAH can cause POTS. There's less info about NCAH and POTS, but I'm assuming it's similar. Also, anecdotally, I have NCAH and POTS, and half the intersex people with NCAH I know also have POTS.

This article is an article all about the connection between EDS and CAH. I will admit I don't quite understand the scientific discussion with EDS because I am not familiar with EDS, but it looks like there is a specific genetic connection. This scientific article says 10% of people with CAH have EDS. Unsure of how NCAH affects this and whether or not people with NCAH are being counted in those numbers, because a lot of resources will use CAH as the umbrella term and include NCAH in it. I don't have any resources beyond scientific articles, but if you search Tenascin X, CAH, and EDS, there's a lot of articles.

This article says that people with CAH have GI problems that manifest in a way that looks like IBS. Anecdotally, I know a few people with (N)CAH with digestive issues, and this website seems like there's a few people with CAH and IBS.

I can't really find anything with MCAS and NCAH, but it's possible that MCAS is more associated with some of the other chronic illnesses you've listed.

I also couldn't find anything for fibromyalgia, but again, that might be a comorbidity for some of the other chronic illnesses you've listed.

Hope that helps!

boy i sure am tired of being expected to debate my lived experience with cis and/or dyadic women who can’t and won’t attempt to sympathize with me as someone who has grown up intersex and androgynous.

edit: im looking at the PCOS survey that just came out and almost everyone that does not think that it “counts” as an intersex condition Do Not Understand what intersex means or what diagnostic criteria many “accepted as” intersex conditions have. or are just straight up insecure TERFs that think being labeled with an intersex condition would make them “lesser”.

The vast majority of Queer internet discourse would be solved if any of you actually talked face to face with other queer ppl in your community

the lgbt community is very, very afraid of discussions about misogyny, which i think is partially due to r/dical feminism and the fear of coming across as “terfy”. the thing is, if we can’t have productive discussions about misogyny, we can’t effectively talk about things like transmisogyny (the intersection between transphobia and misogyny) and lesbiphobia (the intersection between homophobia and misogyny). if you don’t have a proper understanding of misogyny and how it manifests within the community as well as outside of it, you will never understand either of those topics, and you will never be a good ally to either group.

laura jane grace is such a legend. she burned her birth certificate onstage, waved at it, and shouted, “Bye-bye, gender!” into the mic. she worked with Food Not Bombs after dropping out of high school. she refuses to transition in ways people would expect her to, because she’s comfortable with certain parts of her body and refuses to give into pressure to look or act as cis as possible. this woman is so badass, go research her right now please.

sorry but i actually love when trans, nonbinary, and cis men have positive interactions. i love when they love each other. i love when they relate and bond. i love when they explore healthy masculinity together. i love when they support each other through their struggles under the patriarchy. i love when they're best friends and goofing around. i love when they stick up for each other. i just love when men. cis and trans - neither or both - alike. i love men.

kill the terf in your head. being a trans woman is good. being a trans man is good. being gender nonconforming is good. being nonbinary is good. being unlabeled is good. transitioning is good. finding refuge in women's spaces as someone who isn't a woman or wasn't afab is good. being attracted to men is good. being an mspec lesbian or a lesboy is good. being aspec is good. being intersex is good. being queer is good. being a kinkster is good.

i could literally go on forever. kill the terf in your head and realize your existence is beautiful and welcome and good. who you are, how you experience attraction, and the communities you find solace in are not incompatible with feminism. the patriarchy has many heads and claws to kill, and it spares no one who goes against it. you are going against it and nature is enamored by you.

i promise. terfs and those who unwittintly espouse their rhetoric are wrong. even if they're queer too.

meeting god again tonight. i found him/them in my trans love for men. they say he loves you too, if that's what you want to hear.

if not. i care about you even though i don't know you. even though i may never know you. i am so glad you are on this earth at the same time as me and all the people i love. i hope you experience all the kindness and support you can, and find peace despite never getting all the joy you deserve.

there is hope somewhere out there for you, and some of it is right here with me. i hold hope for you and i always will. please stay if you ever feel like leaving. i'd miss you, and i'm not the only one who would.
