If there is a story you wanna tell, but you don't think you will ever have the time or resources to organize and tell it ""properly"" as like...a novel or a comic or whatever, it can absolutely just be...a bunch of brain storm-y blog posts and sketches that you share and compile over time on your blog. That is still a story. It is still a format. In theory, it might not be the "best, most effective" format...but in practise, the best, most effective format is the one that is accessible enough to let you get your ideas and narratives out at all♡

And, yanno--it is just nice to be able to give folks some context for your characters n stuff :3c

happy belated anniversary to this. here’s some of my favorite tags and replies

i so desperately want lyney and childe to team up as eldest siblings who have seen the horrors and want to protect their family by bringing down injustice THEIR way

anyway i looked up the post about seeing your grandma's boobs and tumblr has deleted the screenshot of the story where the finnish dude says that americans are "like that" because they haven't seen their grandma's tits

good job tumblr 👍

there it is!

my comments on that post were (sorry for shamelessly copy-pasting them):

american attitudes about nudity are fucking wild, and the worst part is that because they're american, they just assume that everyone everywhere thinks the same. i will never forget seeing people on a left-leaning, progressive site saying that families bathing together is creepy and gross and clearly a sign that something is wrong with the family, that they'd never seen their siblings or parents naked and would in fact rather die. meanwhile to this day i bathe and go to the sauna with my sister and mother and have been bathing and sauna'ing with various family members - and even strangers! - my whole life. but yes, can confirm, seeing your grandma's tits as a child does you good, and not just because it teaches you that "beauty is fake and temporary", but because it broadens your ideas about what beauty even is in the first place. my sister and i used to spend our summers at our grandma's house by the countryside and frequently bathed and went to sauna with her. we saw not just her breasts but also her flabby skin, her moles and liver spots, her body hair and varicose veins, and we didn't see any of that as weird or ugly because they were a part of our grandma who we loved very much. and when we see those things in other people - ourselves included! - we think "well it wasn't ugly on my grandma's body, so why would it be ugly on anyone else's body?". it makes you much more understanding and "forgiving", if you will, towards the completely normal bodies of strangers as well as your own body.

You know... I grew up on a farm where a number of people showed up after a 600km drive so that they could chop wood til they didn't care about it anymore. And they paid us for it, sometimes. Veikka is on to something there. Chopping wood works. (although therapy usually involves less axe wounds over the same time period, so your mileage may vary)

My best advice for people new to adulthood: keep emergency food around.

I don't mean like those prepper type people. I mean keep a granola bar in your purse or backpack. If you have a car, keep a jar of peanuts in there.

This is good for if you miss your bus, or forget your wallet somewhere, or get stuck in traffic. You never know when you are going to feel shaky, and it's better to have something quick and easy on hand, in case you need it.

Having emergency food around is your best friend. Trust me.

(It's an especially good idea if you have any kind of food restriction, whether it's merely being vegetarian or something more complex. You'll be glad of your muesli bar or whatever when you find yourself somewhere without safe food.)

I think this is super important to remember.

No kill shelters result in animals dumped on the highway and tossed in the river because the rescues wont take them. That’s the part they never tell you.

Meanwhile the spca will take every animal, and if they have to euthanize them at least it will be done kindly and not via neglect or cruelty.

Because people in the notes are not getting this, let me explain:

No-kill shelters TURN AWAY animals. When they’re full - and they often are because most of these no-kill shelters are small - they stop taking them in. While they are “taking their time to find the right homes for every single animal”, many other animals never get in the door. Somehow they don’t count those animals, or track what happens to them. A success for them doesn’t include the ones they turned away. They’re taking their time because they can.

The No-Kills who brag about 100% adoption rates are the worst, because they tend to reject the most. The animals who will be difficult to adopt out? They just don’t take those. Special needs? Too old? If they’re going to be hard to adopt out, they can claim to be full, even if they’re not.

They are telling owners they absolutely cannot take their fifteen year old cat because they are full of litters of kittens. Adorable kittens that will turn over quickly, and boost their adoption numbers. So what happens to the fifteen year old cat? After days of being rejected at the shelters they get dumped on the side of the road somewhere, or worse.

You cannot imagine the VOLUME of animals that a city shelter deals with. The kill shelters are not allowed to turn anyone away. The difficult cases, the special needs, the elderly, the feral. The dog that bites, the cat that pees everywhere. Every animal is going to be taken in and treated with kindness. They are going to be assessed and treated for their fleas and conditions and behavioral problems. They will get their time on the adoption floor. They will get the best chance possible to find a new home. And if it’s not possible, they will be humanely euthanized, and that cage space will go to the next animal who is already waiting for it. It never stops. While you were working on the paperwork to adopt out 1 cat, three people brought in 4 more. It’s a numbers game that you cannot win if you aren’t turning people away.

A lot of times kill shelters get the animals that the no-kill shelters refused to take. Maybe their owners bring them. Or maybe they got literally thrown in the garbage, abandoned, or put in a bag and tossed in the river, when the no-kill shelter said they were full. The police and rescuers will bring these poor injured animals to the city shelter where they will be cared for. The volunteers will spend days and weeks trying to wash the tar out of their fur, or treat their broken bones, or whatever other horrible thing has happened to them. They will feed and house them. They will put most of them in new homes. They will save many many more animals, by orders of magnitude, than a no-kill shelter ever will. A no-kill shelter will brag about dozens or maybe hundreds of  adoptions. Kill shelters are dealing in thousands of successful adoptions, and they still have to euthanize because it just isn’t enough. There are just so many animals to take in.

And then, after all this, the No-Kill Shelters get to claim the moral high ground somehow, and self-righteous types will refuse to adopt from the only shelter that takes absolutely everyone. It’s infuriating.

Okay just like some lore stuff about dragons cos I have Neuvillette brainrot -

  • So he's probably the Hydro Dragon, like Hoyo aren't really trying to hide this
  • Dragons used to rule Teyvat before the Archons (spelled out in Nahida's second story quest)
  • However, the Hydro Dragon specifically was corrupted and killed by other dragons - the vishaps in Enkonomiya
  • There was a prophecy about the Hydro Dragon being reincarnated in human form; does this mean tiny baby Neuvillette appeared in Fontaine randomly? Was he born? Did he hatch from an egg? Unclear
  • Dragons being "corrupted" is also a Thing with Apep, since she ate Deshret who was corrupted by Forbidden Knowledge and became corrupted herself
  • From that old Oceanid event and other in game lore, we know that Hydro specifically becomes impure the easiest of all the elements
  • Neuvillette gets a scratch on his face just from being in Childe's abyss transformation's presence for a second, even though we know Childe didn't have the opportunity to attack him

Look I think corrupted Neuvillette is in the cards. I don't think he'll die but I think stuff could happen there and there's a reason Neuvillette shut down Childe's abyss transformation so quickly, even though we know he thought the guilty sentencing was unfair. He doesn't do anything until Foul Legacy shows up so he probably recognises what it is.

(also Furina looks scared when the traveller pulls their sword out again her, and she flinches back when Childe starts fighting. It's giving puppet leader.)

imagine walking into france one day and your son is dating your most annoying coworker (thank you tumblr user @/nnavia for inspiring this with ur tags LOL)

the fact that lyney actually gets stage fright is so cute all that bravado is just a facade....meanwhile childe is just like omg he rocks my socks off

People with low spoons, someone just recommended this cookbook to me, so I thought I'd pass it on.

I always look at cookbooks for people who have no energy/time to do elaborate meal preparations, and roll my eyes. Like, you want me to stay on my feet for long enough to prepare 15 different ingredients from scratch, and use 5 different pots and pans, when I have chronic fatigue and no dishwasher?

These people seem to get it, though. It's very simple in places. It's basically the cookbook for people who think, 'I'm really bored of those same five low-spoons meals I eat, but I can't think of anything else to cook that won't exhaust me'. And it's free!
