Iwaizumi had been trying to calm down Oikawa ever since he arrived. He found out that you both broke up and Oikawa is helpless, he won’t stop crying and he’s been drinking alcohol for hours. “If she loves me why would she leave me? She…she is everything that I know.” he whispered, his eyes still swollen.

“Why would she made love with me before….fuck. It hurts so much it feels like I’m gonna die.”

“She’s strong enough to let you go so you could run after your dreams with no inhibitions. Maybe this is what you both really need. Time and space and if both of you meet and you two still love each other, then it is meant to be.”

Oikawa cried in Iwaizumi’s shoulder and the former ace tapped his back, he feels bad for his best friend. He knew how much this man loves you but a part of him knows that you and Oikawa needs to be free.

Oikawa arrived in Argentina with a heavy heart. You didn’t even tried to see him at the airport. All he knows was that you moved in with a friend of yours named Shimizu Kiyoko, after the break up. He called you a lot of times but you never picked up his calls. Maybe he really needs to give you your freedom the way you gave him his.

“Love me? Then where are you?” he whispered bitterly as he looked at the picture of you kissing his cheek after he won a match. You were both so happy and contented to what you have, what happened?

And on that exact moment, a part of Oikawa realizes why you both ended up like this. It was because he’s been climbing up the mountain always expecting you to go after him and catch up because that was how it always been but now, you were nowhere to be found…

You watched him leave the airport, of course, he never knew but you were there crying as you hide after he left. You felt so dumb, you knew that he will stay if you asked him to but you just don’t have the heart to be that greedy. It was already enough to share 9 years of his life to you. It was already enough that he gets to love you, and you get to love him.

You sobbed like a child as you cover your face with your hands after watching him leave. It hurts but he deserves to achieve his dreams, he deserves to be free and so are you.

“How dumb can you both be?”

Your breathing hitched when you heard that familiar voice and when you removed your hands from your face, you saw the one and only Iwaizumi Hajime raising his brows at you, “Go on and hug me before I change my mind.” he told you as he open his arms to welcome you and you buried you face on his chest and cry. Letting out everything that you kept inside.

Iwaizumi tap your back softly doing his best to calm you down, he knows how much you love Oikawa, he witnessed how you both fell in love. And now here he is, comforting you both because of your break up. It was heartbreaking for him too but he can’t do anything about this because he also saw that you both needed time apart.

“Shh, everything will be fine. You will found your way in each other’s arms again. Not now, but maybe in the future.”

1 month later..

Kenma was busy talking to Kuro about an upcoming sports event when you entered his office, both of them turned to look at you with a smile as a greeting. “Your coffee’s here, boss 1 and boss 2.” you smiled at the two gentleman as you placed down their coffee in the table. Kuro smirked as he looked at you up and down, he just noticed something. “You’re glowing these days, YN.” you frowned and Kenma rolled his eyes, “Stop flirting with my secretary, Kuro. She has a boyfriend, you probably even know him. And your girlfriend wouldn’t be happy to know this.” Kenma sipped onto his coffee and gestured you to sit down in the single couch near his and Kuro’s.

“Hey, I’m just being honest, I’m not flirting, I’m too in love with my love. And who is the boyfriend that makes her glow, You?”

“No, Oikawa Toru.” Kenma answered as he rolls his eyes and Kuro gasped dramatically, he knows that the guy has a girlfriend but he didn’t know it was you! How come that cocky guy got you? “No way. Oh wow congrats, I heard he’s in Argentina, how is he doing there?” you awkwardly bit your lower lip and rubbed the back of your neck, Kuro just found out that you had a boyfriend, now you got to tell him that you’re single again. “I don’t know, we already broke up, a month ago.” Kuro sent a look to Kenma before he shook his head, trying not to get too awkward after that statement. He wanted to smack himself for even bringing it up. “Baka you didn’t even know they broke up.” he blamed Kenma and the latter frowned and ignored his best friend to look at you, a little worried. You’ve been his secretary for quite a while, how come you never told him? He’s your friend too!

“What happened?” Kenma asked, his eyes fixed on you.

“I broke up with him. He wouldn’t be there in Argentina if I didn’t.” you smiled awkwardly before glancing down at your wrist watch, thinking of ways to escape from this awkward situation. “Sorry, I gotta go, boss.” you told him and excuse yourself but before you could even exit the room, your vision turned black.

The next thing you knew, you woke up with Kenma and Kuro watching over you, looking worried. They brought you in a hospital to have you checked and Kuro pat your head, obviously concerned. You were like a little sister to him, the oh so helpful little secretary of Kenma who’s damn good at her job, to the point you even do him favors as well. “Man, you had it rough these days because of the event YN. I’ll ask someone to take care of some of your parts for the even and you should go ask Kenma to give you a break. Take care of yourself alright? I gotta go, My beloved is waiting for me at home.” he pat Kenma’s back before after exiting the room and after he left you turned to look at your boss who looks more worried. It was the first time you’ve seen Kenma Kozume like that. “Kenma?” you called him, dropping the nickname you gave him as a tease, even if he hates being called ‘boss’.

“The doctor told me something, YN.” he told you, there was that unsettling seriousness in his voice and you were thinking that you probably have a terrible illness and you will be saying goodbye in this world soon. You tremble at the thought, that can’t happen, not when you’re still not able to see Oikawa achieve his dreams.

Kenma sighed and held your hand, “Did you know that you are pregnant, YN?” he asked, his voice was firm and worried.

You felt like your ears was ringing when you heard him, no matter what you do, his question won’t just sink in.

But that word kept on repeating on your mind.

Pregnant…Pregnant… You are pregnant.

“You are one month pregnant…it must be why you’ve been feeling a little sick lately.” he told you, remembering the times you’ll excuse yourself to throw up, the times where you will refuse to eat the foods you were used to eat and your evident mood swings for the past weeks.

Kenma saw how you held your breath when everything sinks in, he saw you cried and he cussed inside his head, not knowing what to do in this situation. He knows that pregnant women can be emotional and he sucks at comforting people! It might stress you out. “I-I can't…what am I gonna do?” you cried and Kenma let you hug him, even if he’s not a big fan of physical contacts. You mentioned that it’s just a month ago when you broke up with Oikawa Toru and Kenma never heard you talk about or go out with any other man, he just found out that you and Oikawa broke up just now. And that only leaves him with one explanation that Oikawa Toru is the father.

“He can’t find out, he can't…please don’t tell anyone.” you cried and Kenma just confirmed that your ex was indeed the father, he slowly nods as he wiped your tears. He couldn’t bear seeing you like this, not the friend who’s always been looking strong, this was the first time you break down in front of him and this time this situation is more sensitive because you are pregnant. He has to calm you down, for your own sake and for the baby as well. “You’ll be fine, I will help you. I’ll be here, calm down. It will be bad for the baby.” he whispered.

Just like what Kenma promised, he helped you hide your pregnancy. He even helped you face your parents to explain the situation and they guided you through all of it but you can’t stay with your parents because they are close with your ex boyfriend’s parents they can’t see you pregnant and Kenma only have one thing in mind.

“Why don’t you live with me? I will hire a helper for you as well. You can’t leave alone like this.” he pointed your three month old preggy tummy and you pouted, the baby belly is not yet showing, but the doctor said that the baby bump shows up depending on the body of a woman, some shows early some do not. In your case it’s the latter. “It’s not fair to you, Kenma. I’m your friend but this is too much, I’m pregnant, not paralyzed.” Kenma sighed, you can be so stubborn sometimes. He massaged the bridge of his nose and looked at you seriously.

“You almost slipped on your kitchen last time, good thing I was there but what if I wasn’t? Are you gonna risk the safety of your baby for the sake of being fair with me? Look, I don’t mind. You’re my friend, YN. I don’t want to rub this into you but I’m the only you have as of now…” He wouldn’t be able to sleep properly and peacefully if he knows that you’re alone.

You sighed in defeat, you can’t really win an argument with someone like Kenma so you don’t really have to push it anymore and you just had to accept that Kenma is the only one you can rely on, Shimizu already moved in with Tanaka and you don’t want to be a bother for the couple.

When you moved in with Kenma, Kuro found out about the pregnancy, when he and his girlfriend visited. It was more peaceful than you expected.

“Kaori and I decided to visit to tell you that we’re engaged, I didn’t expect that I’ll be the one to be surprised.” Kuro told Kenma as he holds his girlfriend’s hand. Kenma sighed and dragged his best friend out of the living room so he could explain the situation, and as the two left you were alone with Kuro’s girl friend.

“Hello, I’m Kaori! Are you…Kenma’s girlfriend?” she asked, obviously hesitant.

You immediately shook your head and bit your lip, “He’s just helping me with my situation.” you told her and she smiled warmly. “I see, I hope you’ll have a healthy pregnancy.” you blinked multiple times and looked down at your tummy, it’s not that evident yet how come she can tell?

“Am I wrong? I just presumed because you are–” she pointed the lemon that you’ve been eating since they came in.

“Because I’m eating lemon?”

She laughed and nod her head, “I just know that it’s common to crave for the unusual when pregnant also, your baby bump is showing, just a little bit. You still look fit.” she told you, she still have that warm smile on her lips and you felt so comfortable with Kuro’s girlfriend because of her attitude and while talking to her you found out that a friend of hers got pregnant year ago and she helps her with the cravings.

From pregnancy talks, you ended up talking about her and Kuro and she’s more than happy to discuss everything.

“We met when Karasuno played with Nekoma. I was a second year manager when I met Tetsu. We exchanged numbers, got close and you know typical high school love story.” she giggled. You suddenly remembered Oikawa, everything also started for you and him in high school.

“How about you? I know that you are Oikawa-san’s long time girl friend. Is he…oh you don’t have to answer that.”

Kaori reached out to hold your hand when you started tearing up as you remember Oikawa, it still hurts, you tried to be okay, you tried to forget him but you just couldn’t. “Hey, it’s okay you can cry. It’s natural.” she reassures you as she squeeze your hand lightly, “Thank you and I’m sorry you had to see me like this.” Kaori smiled and moved closer to hug you. You cried silently, while she reassures you that everything will be fine, you closed your eyes wishing that your baby will be healthy. You would want your child meet Oikawa once the right time comes but your top priority now is to take care of yourself and the baby.

Oikawa was staring at your picture saved on his phone, all he could think of was how he was able to survive here without you. He was staring at the sky, remembering the words you told him before he left. Was he so focused in his own dream that he cut off your wings to fly to chase your dreams?

“Oikawa Toru?”

Oikawa looked up just to see a woman standing in front of him, “I didn’t expect to see Argentina’s rising star here.” she said, obviously flirting but Oikawa just smiled plainly, “I’m just chillin’ here.” he told her as he avoids her flirtatious gaze.

“Mind if I stay as company?”

“Well feel free to join me.” he answered as he sipped onto his beer, he’s not one to be drunk easily but he’s been drinking for an hour, he knew he had to take care of his body but he just needs this, maybe if he’s drunk he won’t see images of you all over the place.

If he drowns himself in alcohol, maybe he wouldn’t find himself spending his night staring at your pictures, watching old videos you two had recorded. You already deleted all of your pictures in your social media accounts. He just archived those photos in his. But he never deleted he pictures saved on his phone, he just couldn’t.

The woman stayed silent, he couldn’t even remember her name. All he remembers was the fact that she’s a friend of one of his current teammates. Was her name, Samantha? Athena? Ah hell, it won’t hurt her if he forgot.

“You’ve been sighing for 5 minutes, would you mind sharing your thoughts?” she asked. She’s already done listening to this deafening silence, she doesn’t really mind the silence much but the heavy aura that he radiates is bothering her. It looks like he’s been keeping something up inside him, he’s frowning, his chocolate eyes were dull and he’s always staring at nowhere.

Honestly, she’s not that interested of the athlete but she was asked by a close friend, that happens to be his teammate, to help him loosen up for a bit. If Oikawa Toru would ask her to leave him alone, she honestly would but he didn’t say anything so she knows that her presence is tolerated but his never ending sighs put her off. It bothers her and intrigues her to know more about him so she gave it a shot.

Oikawa looked at her, he had second thoughts about sharing whatever’s bothering him but he realized she doesn’t know you, so he had decided to spill the beans as he took one last sip in his beer. “My girlfriend and I broke up before I got here. She told me that she’s giving me back my freedom to fly and chase my dreams.” he smirks as he tossed the empty can of his beer in the bin nearby while she watched him with an interested look on her face.

“You’re lucky then, not everyone could be that selfless to let someone go for them to chase their dreams.”

“Yeah but I don’t want this, I want to chase my dreams with her. But maybe I accidentally cut off her wings to fly when I got too busy chasing before mine.”

She smiled and looked up at the night sky, “It’s your fault then, you see, Oikawa when we are busy receiving love, sometimes we tend to forget how to love back. I’m not saying you didn’t love her but you should’ve given her a chance to fly to chase her dreams just like you do.” Oikawa stared at her for a minute and he remembered what was her name, Sofia, her name is Sofia.

“She actually gave up her dream university to move in with me.”

“Lucky you, let me guess. You didn’t know until she snapped and let it all out?”

“Yes, how the hell would you know that?”

Sofia laughed and nipped her chin as if taking some time to think before she looked at him with a meaningful smile. “Because girls often do that, you know, silently suffer then explode when it’s too much.” she answered softly, she looked up into the sky once more and she moved her arms upward and she opened her fist as if trying to reach the sky.

“You know birds do come back to exact places even after migrating.”

“I don’t see what this has to do with anything.”

Sofia chuckled and shook her head as she saw the confused look of the athlete staring back at her. “I just want to say that even if you both fly towards different skies, there’s a great possibility to meet each other again at the same ground.” she told him.

Sofia handed her beer to him with a smile, at first, he didn’t want to take it but when he reached out to take it from her, she took the opportunity to press her lips on his. Oikawa couldn’t move but he found himself kissing her back, the can of beer was long forgotten as it fell on the floor when he held her waist and pulled her closer.
