Anyone remember a post from Tumblr past, where somebody said something about being tired of having teenage chosen ones and they wish someone would write one that's older? Because my older sister did that and it's getting published in April.

Look, no offence, but in this world where someone is claiming to be a billionaire… Brooks Brothers won’t cut it. — I’m assuming I’m on a budget.

i think instead of trying to claim “dude” as a gender-neutral term, we should start pushing for “dudette” to be a gender-neutral term, and see how quickly people start being uncomfortable with clearly gendered terms being forced upon them

in case anyone missed the point of this post because this post is getting notes and i do not trust the reading comprehension on this site, im not telling people literally go and misgender people, im trying to make it clear that pretending gendered terms like “dude” can be gender-neutral is pretty insensitive and ignorant and not at all as progressive as one would believe. if one really wants to degender a masculine term, they must do so for a feminine term as well, or else theyre just creating a dichotomy between “everyone” and “women”

in other words, “dude” will only be gender-neutral when “dudette” is too, which frankly will never happen so long as -ette remains a feminizing morpheme

Dudette is just a smaller dude. Like how a cigarette is just a little cigar.

you know, that would be an ideal way for the word “dudette” to exist in, but unfortunately “-ette” is like three or four different suffix morphemes, and the one “dudette” uses is the feminizing morpheme, much like how “bachelorette” is not a “small bachelor”

however, if more people start using “dudette” to mean “little dude” instead of “female dude”, and men become increasingly comfortable with being called “dudette”, then yes, there would be a semantic shift away from the gendered variant and towards the diminutive variant, which i fully support

early analytic philosophers were really like “the world isn’t sentence shaped and that’s fucked up”

becoming an idealist so I can be like “actually the world is sentence-shaped 😏”

If fucault was right about everything being a prison then I guess the world is sentence-shaped 😏

I should block you but I can’t bring myself to do it
