Guess who's back

@gromit07

I'm just a simple 20 something year old who wants to enjoy animated shows made for peole half my age, gimme some slack.

been a long time since a m/f pairing hits me like rayllum does. love them for it. i love it when couples are a little mutually insane about each other.

I see so many older lesbians at the post office! Yesterday one walked in while I was shipping off a package, and her face lit up as soon as she saw me! We met eyes and shared the same thought

Anonymous asked:

How do you cope when things get hard?

that is a very good question with a multitude of often times only half good answers, depending on personality, hardship, and circumstance. but i will do my best, as the past few months for me have been extremely hard in some ways, and very fulfilling in other ways, but like

your life never stops falling apart, and you also never stop figuring it out, i suppose. all things are temporary, even if it feels like pain will last forever (and sometimes it does, but it almost always changes shape and becomes easier to carry). give yourself space to grieve and cry and get frustrated. remind yourself that fear is a natural emotion, that you don't have to feel the way you feel, either (especially if it's mental health related); if there are resources out there, take them (especially if you don't feel worthy of them). you don't have to suffer to deserve help. you don't have to be perfect to ask for support. ask for support from wherever you feel comfortable and safe.

for me my self soothing tactics are making sure i have a good drink of choice so i don't get dehydrated (non alcoholic mind you), cry if i need to and then work to figure out why i'm crying, hold space for my feelings and listen to songs that help calm me down (usually sleeping at last). find what works for you - giving yourself little treats if and when you can, reading/watching things that are comforting or things that make you cry if you need/want a good cry. hard times will pass and there will be new sources and moments of happiness you can't imagine. there's nothing wrong with distracting yourself when you need to, either, so long as you're also giving yourself time to process.

in the meantime, some things that may be helpful:

Six Sentence Sunday - Rumour has it…

Rayla rolled her eyes as they all began to follow Barius to the kitchen, getting up and moving after them too.
“Rayla, if I could have a word?” Opeli asked quietly as she was pushing her chair back.
“Eh, sure.” Rayla glanced at the others over her shoulder. Ezran, Soren and Corvus had already exited the room, but Callum paused in the doorway, a concerned look on his face. “Save me a doughie-o, will you?” She waved him on as she walked over to Opeli.

Little excerpt from the hopefully final chapter of Rumour has it…

All things going to plan, hoping to post it on Wednesday. It’s going to be a long chapter 😅

I've kinda talked about this before but I love how we get to see the Forgers' different ways and levels of keeping secrets and of accepting their place and their love for the family.

Bond is the simplest case. He's not exactly "hiding" his precognition because he has no ways to communicate it to anyone, but rather openly acts on it to protect others. However, upon meeting the family he went like "Good humans. I will love and protecc" and hasn't looked back since.

I would argue that Anya's secrets are bigger than Yor's, for the most part because her powers are constant, and also more invasive in their lives than Yor's secret job. But Anya also immediately accepts Loid and Yor as her parents and calls them Papa and Mama without hesitation because in her mind, they are her parents, end of story. She is the daughter of the Forgers and it's up to her to keep it that way, thus she keeps her powers a secret because she fears that them becoming known would mean the end of the family.

Yor's secret is more indirectly dangerous due to the nature of her job, but also more possible to cause trouble. Anya is not responsible over her powers; Yor chooses to stay an assassin (though with understandable motives behind her choice) and she is fully aware that the moment her real job is revealed she'll have to leave them. At the same time, she feels insecure because for all she knows, Loid is a kind, simple citizen who is unknowingly covering for an assassin and has welcomed her into his home and family, so she feels she needs to always do her best to pay this kindness back. So her accepting her place in the family doesn't come immediately, nor easy. But through the course of the first season, she slowly got to the place of realizing she loves that place enough to be motivated to do her best to keep it, not so much for cover anymore, but because it really is a precious place for her.

And on the far end you have Twilight, who builds this entire family based on lies as a cold, distanced requirement for his mission. He is not supposed to love them, he is not supposed to see any emotional value in his place in the family, and he is not supposed to consider any alternative other than pretending to be Loid Forger for as long as this mission lasts. Despite Anya and Yor having secrets of their own, they are honest about their past and their true characters. But everything about Loid (or almost everything) is a researched, calculated choice. The moments he reveals true parts of himself are a precious few, and come out of him in an attempt to connect with and comfort the others, and rarely benefit the mission directly. He's not only the deepest in on the lying, he's also got the longest road to walk to accept his place in the family and his love for them.

(no spoilers for the manga please)

some dipshit uploaded my book to an AI site, so suffice to say, I will fucking kill them

emailed my agent cuz our contract states she has to protect me from shit like this, so we'll see what she says

but I will still kill these ppl

LMFAO THE SITE IS BEING TAKEN DOWN

hey so, just so there's no ambiguity about what just happened-- this was about Prosecraft, a website that would help you compare your writing to your favorite author by analyzing the "vividness" of the words used, passive voice vs active voice and the number of adverbs used in a given section.

unfortunately, the service is dogshit for various reasons but that's not the issue here.

the issue is that the website had trained an AI on 25,000 books, one of which included mine. and i definitely did not give anyone permission to use my work to train an AI. it's literally stated in my contract.

and if i didn't give permission--i can imagine quite a number of authors didn't give permission either. (oops, i don't have to imagine--because hundreds of authors came forward and said they didn't give permission either!)

so i emailed my agent about this. my agent directed me to my publisher which has a legal department that looks into piracy on this scale. all of those authors did the same, emailing their legal team, getting The Authors Guild involved.

EVERY AUTHOR pretty much roasting this guy named Benji Smith on Twitter for claiming to "support authors" yet clearly using pirated work to train an AI.

of course, he decided to take the website down. authors are now talking about getting AI protection clauses in their contracts going forward. i already have one with my agent, but I imagine I will have to get it instated into every publishing contract moving forward.

source: it happened to me lol (but if you don't believe me, here's a link)

some time ago i introduced the phrase "food pact" to my friends as a shorthand for "i'll go make and eat food if you also make and eat food" and ever since then ive just started incorporating more pacts into my life. stay hydrated pact. stretch break pact. stop doomscrolling and go to bed pact. we need to bring this back in vogue more people should be making pacts imo

the best part of this is when you ask "who wants to do a shower pact" and you get a half dozen friends all rolling up saying "the pact is sealed". faustian behavior
