Because nobody cares about our issues. To them we are extinct already, that's why they always claim to have heritage, to have past connections, to have ancestry. To them, we are dead, we are history, we are a costume.
To them, we're the product of chinese and black slaves, we're colonizers from mongolia, we're indian, we're everything except the True People Of This Stolen Fucking Land.
To say you're chinese is hard because that's a whole other country with different customs. To say you're black is hard because they have such a different pov in life you can pick it out easily.
To say you're indigenous? It's easy. Nobody believes we exist anymore so they don't think there's a culture, a sub language with our own slangs, our own *full* languages, tribes, and facial features.
Nobody knows what a native person looks like. If we don't look blasian or like a wood carving then we aren't native to non-natives. We only exist as a caracture.
It is because everyone who now lives on our land cares so little for us they'd rather ignore our continued genocide in favor of every other little issue.
