context: just a few somewhat angsty headcanons I have for when MC and Solomon return to the present after everything, enjoy!!

warnings: this does contain nightbringer spoilers

the past changes people

  • MC will often become more hesitant to talk to or even engage with the brothers. Due to being treated as an attendant in the past they now are used to it, so whenever one of the brothers tries to engage with them they find it hard to sit still or listen to said brother for long periods of time without feeling out of place.
  • MC will often mix up the fact that they are an exchange student rather than an attendant. When Diavolo claims that he wants MC to feel comfortable as an exchange student MC will respond with something along the lines of how they don’t need much because they’re the brothers attendant. Which in return gets a few confusing stares from others.
  • MC still carries out some of their duties as an attendant unconsciously. Such as keeping track of the brother’s schedules, events, student council meetings, etc. The brothers don’t mind at first however what they do find unpleasant is the fact MC always follows behind them instead of right beside them like they used too. This doesn’t register until one of them says something to MC, which they in turn respond with “I always follow behind all seven of you”. Which makes their hearts sink.
  • Still focusing on the attendant duties, MC will still continue to carry out anything asked of them without much of a fight. Since they were so used to carrying out such elaborate things when watching over the brothers in the past they are now used to doing such tasks for them. Most of the time this will confuse most of the brothers because MC is usually more vocal with their opinion on something.
  • MC will unconsciously be a bit harsher and stricter on the brothers than they usually were. Since being their attendant MC had to keep each of them on a tight leash so they wouldn’t get into trouble. So now in the present if they were to start fighting MC would be the first to show up to scold them instead of Lucifer.
  • MC will just straight up be petty with Lucifer for a while. Due to the things he said while they were in the past they still haven’t completely forgiven him. So whenever Lucifer mentions his “family”, MC finds themselves saying some remark along the lines of “well that doesn’t include me” or “just the seven of you I know. I leave you all alone” is enough to confuse and hurt the hell out of him. MC knows that Lucifer does really care for them in this timeline, but they can’t help it. His words really did hurt them deeply for awhile.
  • On another topic of MC’s attitude, Diavolo soon realizes that they are much more formal with him. The cute nickname Dia was dropped and he was always referred to by a title now. When Diavolo questioned them about formality MC simply explained that the past Barbatos didn’t like them referring to Diavolo in such a manner.
  • MC is now more vigilant around Satan, Belphegor and Barbatos, each for different reasons.
  • Satan is one that worries MC the most because they became used to having to deal with his violent outbursts and destructive episodes. So when Satan gets angry in the present MC will step in front of him and the brothers separating them. Satan soon grows confused when MC prepares a spell to restrain him.
  • Belphegor doesn’t worry MC as much as the other two, but after he found out they were a human in the past and tried to kill them again in response MC had to remain vigilant. They still do whenever they are alone with him. Which in turn makes the youngest guilty about the past.
  • Barbatos is someone MC keeps Solomon away from at all costs. After all MC was used to Barbatos teleporting the sorcerer around from place to place. It did become concerning when Solomon would show up later and later each time he came home. So to avoid that MC would make themselves and Solomon avoid the butler at all costs. However the present butler soon finds this behavior hurtful when MC constantly declines his offer to come over. In the end MC has a hard time remembering that this isn’t the past Barbatos.
  • Many soon noticed the strong bond MC now has with Solomon and of course they all become jealous. At first they noticed how MC would go to him for little things, or just prefer to be around him more, but when they asked about moving in with him rather than staying in the House of Lamentation it threw everyone for a loop. It made it even worse when MC said they’ll be there to help the brothers every morning like usual. They wanted MC to realize that they’re an exchange student not an attendant.
  • Many also notice how reliant they are on Solomon for certain things. Sometimes MC just needs Solomons presence in a room to be able to feel comfortable. If not MC will then become slightly annoyed or fidgety.
  • Solomon becomes more protective over MC without even realizing it. If he believes one of the brothers are being too bothersome to MC he will step in and whisk them away.
  • Solomon finds it easier to steal MC’s attention away now. Before when he would try and drag them away from the brothers, or even try and steal their attention for just a second it always failed. However with how close they both became in the past, if Solomon interrupts a conversation MC is having with the brothers MC finds themselves listening to him a bit more than the brother they were speaking with.
  • MC is much more reckless and blunt with their decision making now. Before they were a bit more collected with their thoughts. However being in the past made their impulsive decision making become a habit. Thus causing the brothers to sometimes question MC methods.
  • MC would often question the brothers as to why they weren’t in their demon forms. They suppose they just got used to seeing them in those outfits for so long now it became the norm.

MC returning to the present

Angst? Fluff? Who knows for sure, but here’s this little thing I’m working on bc I can’t get the idea out of my head. (also disclaimer, i’m not completely done nightbringer yet, I’m stuck on lesson 6-3 as of right now, so I’m making an assumption about where exactly Simeon was staying within the HoL)

Also, no real mention of how you ended up back in the present bc I didn’t want to think too hard about it and that’s okay <3

gn!MC, established relationships for all scenarios.

…satan might slowly be making it into my top three after nightbringer… writing his section was so much fun.

— — — — — — — — — —

You opened your eyes and immediately took in the sight of a familiar ceiling. One that your view of was always slightly obstructed by the leaves from the tree behind your bed. One with golden trim along the edges of the intricate swirls carved into it.

One that you thought you may never wake up to again.

Bolting upright at the realization of where you were, you checked to see if everything was the same as you left it, checked to make sure there were no signs of any angel’s belongings in place of your own.

When you were satisfied that everything was how you remembered it, you promptly pinched yourself to make sure it wasn’t any sort of dream.

“Ouch,” you muttered, rubbing gently over the skin.

Okay, so maybe it isn’t a dream, but it could very well still be a hallucination, or the effects of some curse or spell, right? Don’t get your hopes up, MC, anything is possible, so don’t get your hopes up-

You swung your feet over the side of the bed and stood up then walked to the dresser with all the knickknacks the brothers had given you during your time in the Devildom- your time. Not a time before they knew you, before they loved you. Proof of your existence, of their growth and affection towards you.

It wouldn’t all be sitting there if you weren’t back in the present. You knew that, but something was still keeping you from believing you were home.

If I really am back… they would be here with me, wouldn’t they? Do they not know I’m back?

You frantically searched for your D.D.D. and swore when you saw the crack on the screen. Thankfully it still turned on, but there was no way you were going to be able to call Solomon about your situation with how shattered it was.

You wondered if the sorcerer was back at Purgatory Hall or if he was with the others, explaining to everyone what had happened and how you got back. Or maybe he was still in the past, wondering where you went? You had no memories of how you ended up back in your bed, so maybe you could get him to tell you as well if he was around. But in order to get an explanation, you had to actually brave up and leave the comforting space you could finally call your own again.

So you looked at the door that would take you to the hallway and took a deep breath in. Before leaving, you pressed an ear against the door and tried to listen for anything to disprove what you were seeing. One last ditch effort at stopping yourself from becoming the butt of a sick joke.

But you heard nothing, so you turned the handle and made your way to anywhere you thought the brothers- your family, your home- might be.

You took note of how this House of Lamentation looked well lived in. It was easy to notice, if you were honest, all the quirks you had grown used to finally being back. Some had stories behind them that you had only heard, some you could tell because you took part in their creation. It was a stark contrast to the newly finished version of it you had spent the past little while in. It wasn’t so cold and empty despite seven new demons residing in it, this one had a soul. Pictures of the brothers lined the hallways, pictures with you included, everything felt so familiar and nostalgic that you couldn’t help but give in and believe it.

You were home

Charmed, I'm Sure
Chapter 20
Summary: No human has ever avoided Asmodeus's charm. Except for you.
Pairing: Asmodeus x GN Reader/MC
Genre: Drama, angst, a little bit of fluff.
Warnings: The usual mildly suggestive content, mild blood, pact use.

***

Asmo ran to Purgatory Hall, the lights from the street and the moon blurring in his vision. He used magic to open the door when he arrived, not bothering to knock.

Asmo nearly bumped into Simeon in the hallway.

“Oh, hi Asmo, we weren't expecting–”

“I’m borrowing your shower,” Asmo called over his shoulder.

He pushed Luke out of the way, who was humming to himself, towel in hand as he was about to enter the bathroom.

Asmo slammed and locked the door, turning the shower on to its hottest setting.

He stripped off his clothes and transformed back into his demon form. The demons’ blood was splattered across his torso and dotting his bare arms. His hands were still covered in it. He watched it all swirl down the drain through the thick clouds of steam that were already beginning to fill the bathroom.

Asmo didn't come out for almost two hours, scrubbing away at his skin until it was red and long past clean, as if that would get rid of the awful, icky feelings that overcame him. When even Purgatory Hall’s magic water heater couldn't keep up with him, the water running ice cold, he stopped and turned off the shower. Asmo towel dried his hair and slipped into a pale blue robe left on one of the bathroom hooks.

He threw open Solomon’s bedroom door. Solomon looked up from the potion he was brewing at his desk.

“It’s all my fault,” Asmo said.

Solomon stood, setting aside what he was working on. “What’s all your fault?”

Asmo sat on Solomon’s bed. He wrapped his arms around himself, chewing his bottom lip. Solomon waited patiently for him to speak.

“The witches, my fans, they put a curse on the demon who tried to take MC’s soul. ” He said finally. “And MC, they–” Asmo burst into tears.

Solomon’s eyebrows shot up to his hairline. “What’s this about MC?”

“They were almost eaten, Solomon! And it was because of my fans!” Asmo began to shake. “They- th-they were cornered by two lower level d-demons tr-trying to take revenge.”

Solomon reached for his D.D.D., waiting for Asmo to continue before he did anything. “Is MC alright?”

“Well now th-th-they are. Lord D-Diavolo is taking c-c-care of it,” Asmo pulled out his handkerchief, dabbing at his eyes and nose. “It’s all my fault,” he whispered.

Solomon released a breath, coming to sit on the bed next to Asmo. He put his arm around Asmo’s shoulders, giving him a comforting squeeze.

“Asmo, I really don’t think-”

“Their blood would have been on my h-hands. Lucifer would n-never, he’d never forgive m-me, and they would have…” he couldn't bring himself to finish the sentence. Asmo buried his face in his hands and continued to sob.

Solomon let him cry for a little while, allowing Asmo to lean into him for support. At one point Simeon knocked at the door to call them down to dinner, entering when Solomon opened the door with magic, but Asmo didn't notice. When he saw the crying demon in Solomon’s arms, Simeon gave a sympathetic nod and went back to the kitchen to prepare a tray for the two of them. He left it and a pot of tea outside the door.

Solomon cleared his desk of potion ingredients and brought in the dinner tray. He set it on top of the desk.

“This is quite a departure from how you acted when MC first arrived.” He said.

Asmo was now staring blankly at the wall, still sniffing. His eyes were puffy and red. It wasn't clear if he’d even heard Solomon speak.

Solomon poured him a cup of tea, inhaling the scent. “It looks like Simeon prepared some sencha tea, I know that’s one of your favorites. Lots of antioxidants for your skin.”

Asmo took the cup in both hands. “I said such awful things to them.” He said quietly.

Solomon sat back down in his desk chair. “You mean before?”

Asmo had been known to be very petty. He was the type of person to start rumors about you behind your back, give you backhanded compliments. But rarely, as angry as he could become, would he antagonize someone to their face. That was something he kept within his family. It wasn't good for his image, not beautiful at all. And beauty was what he prized most of all. At the height of Asmo’s hatred toward you Solomon was sure he wouldn't have stooped to that level. It just wasn't him.

Asmo shook his head. “No, it was right after I…” He trailed off. He could still see it. How you turned away from him and that single tear that rolled down your cheek. He’d hurt you.

His stomach did an annoying little flip-flop. He took a sip of his tea, bouncing his leg. He needed to shake this feeling. “I don’t know why I care so much.”

“You’ve gotten to know them at least a little bit,” said Solomon, “It’s only natural for you to have some empathy for them."

Asmo looked at the bright green liquid rippling in his tea cup. “No, this isn't just empathy. This is something else,” he set the cup down and ran his hands through his hair. “I was so worried when I found them that when it was all over I couldn't help it– I yelled at them…”

He wanted to take it all back, to hold you and let you cry into his shoulder. He could comfort you in any way you needed, no matter how far you wanted to go, he was good at that. Maybe then you would forget the ugly side that had burst out of him.

But everything he’d said was correct. Protective bracelet or not, you shouldn't have been walking around alone, in Asmo’s opinion. He’d been right to admonish you. Maybe he was a little harsh but obviously you weren't listening to his brothers’ kind suggestions. He was justified.

But something still nagged at him. He couldn't get over the way you had looked at him.

“You could always apologize. I’m sure, given the circumstances, they’d understand. Humans can’t hold such long term grudges the way eternal beings can. Their lives aren't long enough for that.” He gave a wry smile. “I mean, usually they aren't.”

Asmo wasn't listening to him. He was thinking about you again, leaving arm-in-arm with his brothers. Not a glance back. He shook his head to clear the vision but it remained. “I’m constantly worried about their opinion of me. Why do I care so much?” He repeated.

Why had he cared? Both now and when you’d fallen ill, it had upset him, shaken him. Why? It’s not like the two of you were even friends. You were supposed to be an inconsequential presence in his life. A housemate, maybe a plaything if he wished. How many tears had he cried for you? And not counting the ones he’d shed when he’d felt his whole identity was coming into question because you wouldn't fall for his charm. This was strange.

Solomon watched him silently.

“I’m the Avatar of Lust and they’re just a human. I’ve had thousands of humans so why do I-” Asmo’s face colored. “There’s something wrong with me.”

“There’s nothing wrong with you,” a small, knowing smile crept up on Solomon’s lips.

It was clear to him what was going on, even if Asmo didn't understand it himself. He sat back.

“There is something wrong with me!” Asmo pulled his knees up to his chest. “Solomon, I can’t stop thinking about them, make me stop thinking about them!”

Solomon quirked an eyebrow, “How would I do that?”

“Use our pact, order me to stop thinking about them.”

If Asmo didn't know you weren't able to use magic, he’d have thought you put a spell on him. Maybe someone else had, a former lover, a jealous demon who coveted his beauty. How else could he explain his thoughts always returning to you? This wasn't like him. Asmo only cared about himself, everyone knew that, Asmo most of all. Occasionally his family could slip in and take a fraction of his love, they’d lived together and fallen together, it was only natural. But you weren't family, you were just… you.

Solomon crossed his arms. “I’m not doing that.”

Tears pricked at Asmo’s eyes again. “Please, Solomon, this isn't me. I need to stop-”

Solomon shook his head. “You need to sort out your own feelings.”

“Solomon,” Asmo whimpered. He tried to use his charm to influence him, his eyes beginning to glow through his tears. It was no use, Solomon’s magical talismans counteracted it.

“It’s late, Asmo. You should go to sleep. We can talk more about this in the morning.”

“But-”

Solomon sighed. He didn't want to use his pact this way, but Asmo wasn't going to figure out the contents of his own heart tonight. “Go to sleep, Asmodeus.” He commanded.

Asmo’s body went rigid as the pact took hold. “I hate you, Solomon,” Asmo sobbed as his limbs moved involuntarily. He fell back against the pillows, falling asleep instantly under the pact’s magic.

Solomon pulled the comforter over him and sat at the end of the bed. He sent out a text to Satan, informing him that Asmo would be spending the night at Purgatory Hall.

So, let's take a moment to talk about La Niña & El Niño for a moment, and what we might want to keep in mind (I'm sure others will have more input).

The past 3 years have been La Niña years, which for my area means we should have been cooler & wetter than normal. We have, instead, had some very hot and very dry periods, among some times of weather that used to be normal. Here's an image that shows the general trend for different areas:

Now, instead of a neutral year, it looks like we'll be swinging into an El Niño year around August. Or at least that's the current prediction (as of when I was writing this). Here's the general effects of an El Niño year:

So, I'm concerned. I'm concerned because the hottest year on record here happened in a La Nina year. What will this year look like? What will next year?

They're almost certainly going to be hotter, and drier than previous years. It's time to start thinking about what you can do to prepare, if you haven't already. There's lots of good posts that have gone around, so if you haven't already read and applied them, now might be a good time to start. Do what you can, and help others as you can. Find out what resources exist in your community, and use them and/or support them.

If you're living in one of the areas that's been experiencing extreme heat already, what's your plan? Where are you going to go, what are you going to do when it's too hot? If you live somewhere with wildfires, plan your evacuation routes, and have a pack ready to go. For nearby areas, how are you going to deal with the wildfire smoke? My go to has been the box fan + furnace air filter, and it's worked great.

Just, please, take care of yourselves and your communities as much as you can.

have you ever wondered you was the most pathetic character in obey me? who's the most cringefail of all? who is just sopping wet and standing out in the rain? just a little pathetic meow meow? who is just *add another synonym of sad and pathetic here*?

well worry no more!

Here is the unOfficial Obey Me Pathetic Meow Meow Tournament!

that's right. a tournament to decide who is the most saddest character of all. decided by the obey me fanbase. what could go wrong?

don't like the placements i did? then feel free to yell at me and make your case. this will start early Monday morning (march 6) so be ready for it!
