Another day another slay reminder that platonic friendships are as good as romantic relationships. At the end of the day, you just need someone who loves you and sticks with you. It can be a friend, or a lover. <33

you're never going to get back to being your old self bc that's not you anymore. things have changed, life has gone on, circumstances have altered. you can only be who you are now and who you will be in the future. there is no going back. you can be similar to the old you, you can perform activities that the old you did, but returning to that person is not going to happen as that is a skin you have already shed and it simply doesn't fit anymore.

in a similar vein, just as you can't force yourself into the shed skin of the old you, you also can't do anything about your alternative lives. the "I could have gone pro", "I could have lived like xx if not for that relationship", "I could have been a doctor if not for my mom's bad advice". you have to let those alternate universes go. you can't stay mad in the real world while you fantasize about what could have been. the choices you made in life have shut those doors behind you. focus on moving forward and opening new doors.

i love when ur writing an essay and u all of a sudden get a burst of inspiration or find the perfect source to back up ur point and it’s like the clouds have parted and everything’s clear and ur not gonna have to drop out

never mind everything sucks essay writing is horrible i have no clue what im doing im gonna drop out and become a street performer

NEVER MIND IM THE KING OF ACADEMIA IM GONNA GET 100% IM GONNA FINISH ON TIME AND HAVE A WELL STRUCTURED ARGUMENT AND IT’S GONNA BE AWESOME

never mind.

(CEO! Thorin x Reader) You Promised

Thank you so much @shalinizhara for the commission! I hope you enjoy your fic and that I did your idea justice!

Warnings: blood, angst, painful memories (nothing extreme, remembering the death of your past life)

They say that your birthmarks are revealers to how you died in your past life. Some people with thin long ones, looking like a blade, some spanning their entire backs like a burn from a fire. And you, well you had a large thin one, just below your diaphragm. Some say it looks like a sword mark, some say it could have been an ax. Despite all the knowledge and myths about the marks, no one really understood it to a ‘t’. Some hypothesize that it’s designed to help you learn from your past, while others argue that it’s a way for kindred souls to stay connected, to be able to instantly tell when they find each other across their multitude of lifetimes.

Staring at the mark in the mirror, you poked it with your finger, the mark feeling like a freshly healed wound rather than just a normal discolored patch of skin. It was times like this that you thought about it, the time when you were finished brushing your teeth and about to put on your work shirt for the day. The moments where time seemed to be so slow, yet so fast, your mind wandered to the myths and the stories told, wondering if there was anything more to it than that.

Blinking, you hummed to yourself as you returned to your bedroom to grab your dress shirt. Another long day at the office was ahead of you.

“Thorin!” You nearly shouted as your email was nearly exploding from the human resources department, another firing without the proper separation procedure being followed, another scramble to fill the position and not have to back-fill it, another meeting to be had for annual leave payouts.

“Yes?” The bastard had the audacity to grin at you as you entered his office. Once upon a time, his office amazed you. A rich mahogany desk, plush office chair, floor to ceiling windows, decorated with a running shelf to hold personal photos and fake plants that his sister insisted he display to make him more ‘approachable,’ a couch, a meeting table with six leather roller chairs and two matching leather armchairs in front of his desk. But now, it was an annoyance to round the large table and get across the vast room to cross your arms in front of him.

“If you fire any more employees without consulting human resources for mediation, you might just experience a revolt–”

“By the employees?”

“By your human resources department, they are fed up! They are tired of policies not being followed and for some reason they think I’m the only one that can change your ways.” You explained. It wasn’t a far-fetched idea, being the only assistant that wasn’t afraid to tell Thorin off without fear of losing your job.

“I know sometimes they can get on your nerves, but please Thorin, for the love of all things good, try and follow their policies? Or else we may end up with a lawsuit and Legal will be the one in here yelling.”

Thorin sighed, running his hands down his face. For a split second he looked like he was going to argue, but he reconsidered. He’s seen you hunched over your desk during lunches, even staying way past closing just to figure out what to do when he has fired someone seemingly out of the blue. Guilt swelled in his chest as he looked closer, the dark circles that you’ve tried to hide were easy for him to see.

“I’ll try.” Was all he said, leaving you with your mouth open like a gaping fish. “What?” Thorin questioned as you broke into a grin.

Scoffing, Thorin shook his head, holding back the grin from growing on his face. “You would think I just agreed to a two percent increase on your salary..” He mumbled, pulling out the meeting schedule from a previously locked drawer in his desk. “Now shoo, I have a meeting.”

Laughing, you shook your head, briefly glancing at the clock before going to exit his office. “Your meeting isn’t for another twenty minutes, by the way,” You called over your shoulder, laughing again when you heard him curse under his breath.

Time ticked by slowly, yet before you knew it, Thorin was exiting his office for lunch.

“Enjoy your lunch, Thorin,” You called out, not taking your eyes off your computer as you typed out another email.

Leaning over, he pressed the power button on your screen, “What was that for?” You turned to face him, his arms now on each side of your armrests, propping himself up.

“You aren’t staying here for lunch, not today,” Thorin’s proximity made your heart speed up, his expensive cologne filling your nostrils.

“And what exactly would you have me do? I packed a mean Lean Cuisine for lunch, it’s in the fridge, however that involves me staying in the office.” You crossed your arms, tilting your head as he chuckled underneath his breath.

“You will join me for lunch and get out of this stuffy office and breathe in some fresh air.” Thorin spoke with finality, however you knew if you really didn’t want to go, he wouldn’t push it. Yet, as you took a moment to respond, Thorin’s palms began to sweat.

It wasn’t often that Thorin felt this way toward anyone, the number of partners he has had since his teenage years can be counted on one hand, and yet you outshined every single one of the people he has given his heart to in the past. And you didn’t even know it.

“Fine, fine,” You relented, pushing your chair back from him, causing him to stand straight, allowing you to get up. “But you’re paying,” You pointed accusingly at him, a grin on your face as his expression brightened. “Well of course, I am inviting you out after all,” He winked before going to collect his blazer, his body flexing and the white dress shirt he wore tightened across his back muscles.

Wetting your lips, you inhaled sharply before turning your screen back on and saving the email as a draft before locking the device.

Collecting your office keys and phone, you gave him a thankful smile as he held the door open for you. “Why thank you,” You bowed dramatically as you exited the now darkened office.

“Now where to?”

“Oh darling, now that is a surprise,” The nickname left you shocked, a fluttering sensation in your chest as you raised a brow at him, managing to keep your cool on the outside.

“Do your worst then,” You teased back, the two of you entering the elevator.

If only you knew how worse it could get.

The lunch had started out great, with laughs and shared stories, only for blazing hot coffee to be accidentally sent your way.

Thorin’s mortified face will now be something etched in your memory, along with the sensation of burning on your chest and abdomen as you instantly react with a yelp, pushing your body away from the table.

“I am so sorry, are you alright?!” The wait-staff member asked, to which you waved them off, taking your napkin and dunking it in your water before gently tapping it on your skin.  “It’s fine,” You spoke through clenched teeth as they scurried off, leaving the two of you to deal with the burns.

“Let me help,” Thorin said and before you realized it, his hands were quick to grab his own napkin and do the same as you were, his touch grazing over your abdomen and coincidentally, your birthmark.

“Does it hurt much?” His voice rippled through your memories, and suddenly the man before you wasn’t your boss, not the CEO you meet with every working day, but your lover. Suddenly he had tears in his eyes, voice laced with grief as he crouched over your form laying in the cold barren snow.

“Not anymore,” You found yourself saying, as your dirty hand, covered with blood and who knows what else, reached to cup his cheek. It hurt like hell but you knew you didn’t want these final moments to be him stressing over making you comfortable.

“Why would you do that?!” He scolded, yet it sounded weak and lost. The blade from Azog was deep in your diaphragm. You knew you didn’t have long.

“I can’t lose you, (Y/n), please I can’t–” Thorin began to sob, the toughened kingly facade he kept up for so many years crumbling before you as he begged you to somehow stay alive despite your grave injuries. “We were going to have a ‘happily ever after,’  remember?” He couldn’t help but remember the evenings of gentle whispers of a better future, having a good life filled with love and joy, something you two would get to achieve once Erebor was reclaimed.

“I’m so sorry,” You couldn’t help but cry, tears now flowing down your cheeks as you tried your hardest to grip onto the thread of life. It seemed like the more you tried, the more you were being pulled away, your eyes growing heavier with each moment.

“Whatever you do, do not close your eyes, please!” Thorin begged, his own tears falling onto your cheek as your hand dropped from his face, your body being too weak to maintain the position.

“I’ll find you again, I promise.”

Your vision went hazy before you blinked rapidly, Thorin’s gaze now locked on yours as tears fell down his face.

“I promised, didn’t I?” You grinned despite the tears in your eyes,, the burning sensation in your chest now the least of your concern as you reached up and wiped a tear away from Thorin’s face, his face leaning into your touch.

“You did,” Thorin laughed, pressing his forehead on yours before his hands were cupping your cheeks and pulling you into a kiss full of want and pain, as if to ground each other into reality that you both were together again.  “You promised.”

Soulmate AU!

All soulmates have a mark. A black mark, sometimes a strip, a dot, even a full handprint. This mark was a symbol, a symbol of where your soulmate would first touch you. A poke, a brush of the back of the hand, a handshake, anything.

Your mind had drifted as you floated in the river, your hair floating freely around your head as you stared up at the darkening sky. The Company had stopped for the night, and while you loved them all, you knew you had to get a moment of peace before traveling for a full day with all of them again. They were definitely a rowdy bunch.

Your mind brought you from the thoughts of your fellow journey members and back to your marks. Two black handprints resting right above your hips. Your gaze moved far away as you imagined what your soulmate might look like. Taller? Shorter? Beard? No beard? Human? Elf? Dwarf? Hobbit?

The questions you held in your mind were endless.

“(Y/n)!” You heard Kili call out, wondering why you’re taking so long. Huffing you sat up in the water, you had finished bathing a long time ago and were relaxing. Keyword: were.

“I’m coming!” You shouted back, pulling yourself out of the water to get re-dressed before going back to the campsite for the night.

The rest of the night was uneventful, the typical jokes and rowdiness filled the atmosphere as each member feasted on the stew Bombur had crafted that night.

Come that morning, however, was chaos.

The growls of wargs and the screech of Balin for everyone to get moving woke the Company, an orc raiding party riding not too far from their camp and surely, the wargs would be smelling you soon.

Quickly slipping on your boots, you joined the rest of the company in dismantling the campground you had made for the night. The less evidence you were here, the better it was for you all. The wargs wouldn’t have an item to hold onto to trace you on your journey, your scents just being a random glimpse in their journey.

You could feel your adrenaline pumping rapidly through your veins, your half-awake state making everything more difficult as you struggled to roll up your bedroll to place on your pack.

“(Y/n)!”

It was like time was slowing down, your eyes lifted from your pack to see a warg coming at you at full speed. Before you could react, two warm hands were placed right above your hips, yanking you out of the way, the wargs jaw snapping at thin air. Your hands grabbed onto their arms, fear plunging your heart into your stomach as Kili quickly whipped out an arrow and shot the beast in the head.

Playful (Sibling, Fili x Reader x Kili)

Commission for the lovely: @smol-wincheeseter ❤️

Thank you for giving me my first ko-fi, honey!

Word Count: 972

I hope you all enjoy!

You never thought you’d be like this again, hiding up in a tree while Kili looked for you and Fili, playing hide-and-seek like dwarrows again. With the quest coming up soon, Fili and Kili were glued to your side practically every day, trying to somehow make up for the time they’d miss being with you before they left. You three had never been apart for more than a week, and they were going to be gone for up to a year journeying to Erebor.

Looking down from your hiding spot, you muffled your laughter in your hand as you watched Kili drag Fili out of a hollowed tree trunk, Fili pouting as he was dragged through the fallen leaves, the rustling sound as his boots made a path through them making it all the more comical.

“Now we must find (y/n).” Kili said, loud enough for you to hear from your hiding spot, looking around with a mischievous smile.

“Did you see where she ran to?” He whispered to Fili who was still getting up from being dragged through the Autumn leaves.

“I’m not a snitch.” Fili huffed, wiping off the leaves from his tunic. “But I’ll help you look for her, we should be getting back soon anyways, the sun is going to set soon.” Fili looked to the edge of the woods, seeing the sun peaking just above the small cottage they called home.

Nodding in agreement, Kili began to look in various places. Beneath the brush, behind trees, inside the hollow trees, but nothing. After a few minutes of Kili searching, Fili felt a ball of yarn beginning to twist around in his stomach.

“(Y/n), this isn’t funny…” Fili began, looking around for where you could possibly be. The woods were silent, the only sound being one of a bunny hopping through and snapping twigs in its wake.

“Come out, you won!” Fili declared, worry filling in his chest as the sun began to dip beneath the horizon, it’s golden light trickling on surfaces but slowly dimming.

“(Y/n), it’s getting dark,” Kili called out, now worried as well as he came back from looking for you up the hill.

Deciding you worried them enough, you let out a battle cry, jumping from your branch and onto Fili’s back.

Fili yelped as you encased his body with yours the two of you falling to the ground before you scrambled up and grabbed a stick from the ground, holding it up with a childish grin on your face.

“-And the mighty warrior “Squirrely (Y/n)” has defeated the beast! Hurray, hurray!” You cheered for yourself as Fili slowly got off the ground, chuckling and shaking his head.

Kili approached from behind, silently, careful to not step on any twigs or branches that would give him away.

Sweeping an arm around your upper half, Kili held you up, walking you back home while tickling your sides, “Ki!” You yelled out, your angry yell turning into a fitful of giggles as he tickled your sides and stomach.

“Squirrely indeed!” He declared, his tone nothing but playful and happy as your laughter filled his ears.

“Fi, help me!!” You called to him, your cheeks rosy with happiness as Kili switched to your other side, “Kili have mercy, I am but a simple lass!” You screeched, kicking your legs a little as he hoisted you higher so you couldn’t shy away from his vicious tickling attack.

“Never!!” He playfully growled out as Fili joined in, tickling your belly from time to time as the two of you approached home.

“Fili, Kili, leave your sister alone.” Dis called from inside the small cottage, stirring soup at the hearth. “We’re just playing amad,” Fili stopped his attack on you and went to kiss her temple, Kili slowly letting you calm down and setting you carefully on your feet and pressing a kiss to your forehead before he went to greet Dis also.

Still getting your giggles out, you shut the front door, taking off your boots and coat and hanging them.

“Hi amad,” you grinned, pressing a kiss to her cheek as she cupped your face and gave a kiss to your cheeks.

“Hello darling,” She cooed, “Go wash-up with your brothers before dinner, you have dirt all over your dress.”

“Mahal knows what those children do in the woods,” She shakes her head as she stirs the soup. “We were just playing amad!” You called out to her from your room where you were putting on more acceptable attire for dinner.

“Oh the mischief you three get into when you’re ‘playing’” Dis laughed heartily as she began to fill each bowl with the delicious smelling broth, chunks of vegetable and meat falling in making it splash on your cheek. Kili sat at the dinner table next to you, a furrow in his brow when he noticed the splashmark on your cheek. Taking the napkin he carefully wiped it off before patting your head.

Dis couldn’t help but feel her heart break as she watched the interaction, knowing the two would be gone for so long. They would have each other, and you would have Dis.

“Fili, come eat!” You called, not wanting your soup to get cold because he took forever to get dressed.

“I’m coming, I’m coming, Squirrely!” Fili called out from down the hall, emerging in a fresh tunic and leggings.

“Now we can eat,” Dis hummed.

Childhood moments weren’t something forgotten, but something missed. The ache of the heart to giggle like a child and to lose all inhibitions as you would play with friends or siblings was something that only calmed, never gone. Dis knew this well, as she watched you eat your soup happily, knowing to not mention the departure date. Fili and Kili knew not to, too.

Imagine Legolas waking up without you

!Disclaimer! I do not own Lord Of The Rings J.R.R Tolkien does

Genre-fluff

Warnings-none

Meleth nin-my Love

Meleth-love

You sat soundly reading in the Mirkwood library surrounded by hundreds of books. It was late at night when you suddenly awoke next to Legolas. You had tried for a while to fall back asleep with no avail. Not wanting to wake your husband you wandered to the library hoping to occupy your mind. A dimly lit candle flickered at your side bringing your subconscious from the book to your surroundings.

Moonlight split through the window illuminating the dust floating around the room. The yellow flicker from the candle ghosted the spines of the books placed neatly on the shelf. A soft breeze rippled the pages in your current book. You were wrapped up in a blanket you had taken from one of the unoccupied guest rooms only allowing the cold air to tickle your face.

Your mind drifted to Legolas and how important you proved to be to him when he returned to his kin.

~Memory~

You walked through the vast hallways of Mirkwood desperately searching for Legolas. He finally returned from the fellowship to come home. You had missed him so much as had Thranduil, both you and the king expressed your concerns for Legolas through small talk.

You picked up your pace, mindful you were wearing a dress and eventually met the doors leading to your love. Your heart pounded against your chest as you walked into the throne room. You glanced around -still not having taken in the beauty of the view- until your eyes rested upon Legolas. His silky blond hair rested upon his shoulders, his bow gripped tightly in his hand, you felt your heart swell with happiness. At the sound of the door opening Legolas’ head turned to face you. He took no time running up and enclosing you in his warm embrace, dropping his crafted bow on the floor as he did. “Y/n, I love you.” He muttered gripping you tighter, you pitied Legolas, what you had heard there were things no one deserved to experience on his journeys. Tears pricked your eyes, you had longed to be in his safe embrace so long it seemed surreal now. “I…I missed you, Legolas.” Was all you could manage. A few happy tears drizzled down your face. The both of you held a tight grip on each other for what felt like centuries. Eventually Legolas pulled away taking your beauty that he’d missed oh so much in, you immediately felt a rush of cold air which was returned shortly after to your cheeks. Legolas gently cupped your face. “Meleth never leave me please.” His bright blue eyes looking apprehensively into yours as if he was feverishly waiting for an answer. “I would never.” You responded in a whisper, the thought of living without each other stung your heart. He swiftly pulled you in for a long overdue kiss. You felt the flames of desire extinguish in your stomach as you finally felt the warm lips of your other dance against yours. When you parted for air, Legolas scooped you off the floor bridal style peppering light kisses onto your face as he did. “We’re finally together again, meleth nin.” He smiled carrying you to your shared quarters to tell you all about his adventures.

~Memory ends~

Oh you wished to be in his embrace at this moment. You clutched the stolen blanket closer to your chest, hoping it would replenish your desire for Legolas, you knew it was fruitless but having something was better than nothing. It seemed rather odd as you could go and join Legolas in slumber but the amount of noise you made trying to find a comfortable position made him stir. Legolas had been very stressed out; not that he would admit. You of course had seen right through his futile attempts to brush it off and suggested he rest. For days he went without sleep, which provided hard, lonely nights for you, to the point when the times he did sleep you would do anything to keep it that way.

Your eyes wandered across the book, realising you were so engrossed in thought the words inscribed into its pages remained foreign. Flicking back all of the pages, nothing seemed familiar. Your mind had trailed away whilst your body subconsciously continued doing what it was told. Sighing lightly you placed the book down and stared deeper into the kingdom of books your soft h/c hair falling onto your shoulders.

You looked blankly into space for quite some time before footsteps interrupted your thoughts on Legolas. They were soft at first rather hazy but soon they seemed urgent. Who would be up at this hour searching for something. Your tired mind racked for ideas but found none.

Whoever it was was fast approaching the library. “Meleth nin?” Whispered a voice you’d know anywhere. Behind a shelf stood your love, Legolas. “What are you doing in the library at this hour?” Standing up you gently wrapped your arms around him; inhaling his scent. Confused he hugged back. “Meleth.” You began, dropping your arms to face him. “I know you’ve been stressed out lately and need rest so when I awoke during the night I couldn’t give in to the slumber, even more so when I knew the chance I could wake you so I came here in hope to occupy my mind.”

His confused expression turned a mix of guilty and loving. “My love I’m afraid you more bad than good.” You felt your forehead crease out of worry. “Meleth when I awoke without you in my arms I was more stressed than I have been in the past few weeks I thought I’d lost you, Meleth nin. Your the best thing in my life so much so that simple things like sleeping without you are impossible.”

You felt happy tears brim in your eyes at Legolas’ words and you lovingly placed your lips upon his for a soft kiss. The sweet moment lasted a few blissful seconds before Legolas broke the kiss picking you up bridal style, he carried you out of the library. “Legolas where are we going?” You asked sleepily.

“To sleep, my treasure.”

That Oblivious {Legolas x Reader}

A.N: This one was ridiculously fun to write! I got to incorporate one of my favorite little tropes that I’ve always wanted to put in a fic. Thank you very much for this request, Anon. I hope you enjoy it!

Requested by Anon on Tumblr: helloo! I'm not sure this is the right way to do this, (please tell me if it isn't and how to do it properly, and sorry!!) but may i request a legolas x reader where the reader is part of the fellowship, and merry and pippin make their mission to get them together because they noticed how they feel for each other? take your time and thank you!!

Word Count: 1,521

Pairing: Legolas x Reader

Summary: Noticing the connection between you and Legolas, Merry and Pippin attempt to get you to realize your feelings for each other.

Warnings: Some insinuations, fluff

That Oblivious

“Pip! Have you noticed that?” Merry had run up alongside Pippin, returning after walking behind you and Legolas.

“Notice what?” Pippin was confused. He hadn’t seen any mushrooms, and no one else had done anything even mildly amusing in several days. To tell the truth, Pippin was beginning to get bored.

“Well,” Merry had that glint in his eyes that meant he was planning something. “I was behind Y/N and Legolas, and they were talking about archery and elves, rather boring things if you must know. However, they do seem like they might be good together. I think we should set them up!”

Gimli: *holds the door open for Legolas* After you.

Legolas: No, after you.

Gimli: Ah, but I insist. After you.

Aragorn: *pushes past the two* After me.
