So finally got my hands on the McGinnis cover of Anansi boys and it had to go on our pulp fiction paperback shelves not with my other Gaiman books because that is where it belongs! Happy to have it nestle by Philip .K. Dick & Harry Harrison ( The Simon .R. Green's are his I've not read those)
80′s action figures, designed by neural network
Part of the power of a recursive neural network is that the same framework can teach itself to generate text in a huge variety of styles. So far I’ve used it to generate things like recipes, Dr. Who episode titles, D&D spells, story titles, metal band names, Pokemon, and paint colors.
But could the neural network learn to generate names for 1980s American action figure toys?
Trent Troop, an indie toy designer who blogs at therobotmonster.tumblr.com and bmogtoys.tumblr.com and also runs https://www.facebook.com/prizeinsidetoys/, gave me a list of about 3,700 action figures from the 1980s and 1990s, from lines including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, G.I. Joe, Transformers, and My Little Pony.
I give you: 80′s action figures, designed by neural network. I remember there were lots of ninja toys and battle toys in the 1980s, but I don’t remember the stank-themed toys, to be honest.

Picked up a copy of w&d vol 5 and flicking through so worth the wait for the TP. I am so going to savour every page

We went to see the 2000 AD exhibition at the cartoon museum and picked this up
Amber: Miscellany & Marginalia
Nothing more here than links to some random posts of things found on this tumblr relating to Roger Zelazny’s science fantasy classic from the 1970s: The Chronicles of Amber …
- A is for Amber - poem cheerfully and alphabetically describing characters and other elements of the series
- An Amber Tapestry - excerpted from the hard-to-find “The Illustrated Roger Zelazny,” the author’s introduction to the artwork and the series itself (sections of the Amber Tapestry art featured)
- The Great Amber Questionnaire - a page pulled from “The Road to Amber”
- Deirdre’s Love for Corwin - speculation about the true nature of the relationship between Deirdre and her favorite brother
- Corwin, Knight of Crows - artwork drawn from another source which nevertheless strongly speaks to the protagonist of the original five books
- “I am a part of the evil that exists in the world…” - great image of Corwin accompanied by a portion of the quote, with the entire paragraph from the second book of the series, The Guns of Avalon, quoted beneath
- Rainn Wilson’s 10 Sci-Fi & Fantasy Favorites - a tribute to both the cover art and the writing defining the speculative fiction of the ’70s which includes The Chronicles of Amber
- Steampunk Airgetlám - steampunk prosthetic arm reminiscent of the one playing a key role in the plot centered on the struggle for power in Amber
- The Library of Amber - inspiration for both the library and palace of Amber discovered on the Biltmore Estate
- Grayswandir, The Pattern, The End of the Worlds - images, with accompanying quotes, drawn from the five books of the original series
- Undefined Landscape - personal take on the appeal of the Amber epic
I thoroughly enjoyed Norse Mythology. I only knew a few of the tales eloquently depicted here in that Gaimanesq style I love so much. So it was reading the new and half remembered . It now has pride of place with my Greek Myths by Robert Graves and my trusty dictionary of phrase & fable. My only complaint about Norse Mythology is I ran out of book way too quickly. I started it on Saturday and finished it by Sunday lunchtime . Thank you for the journey though Mr Gaiman.

My mum is under going some funky treatment but it means that for 2 weeks we can't touch her and so can't hug her when that is all we want to do. . This book is exactly what I needed for her. Thanks Mr Riddell
I couldn't resist either of these strangely named books. Angel catbird has an intro by Margaret Atwood explaining she's always been into comics. I never doubted it for a moment 😀
A real surprise Xmas present from my significant other. We both love steampunk & both have a preference for analogue watches soo I got this from him 😁 I love the mechanics of the watch
The Chemical wedding ostensibly advertised as the first science fiction book. Is a delight. I’m a sucker for footnotes and great illustrations and a quirky tale. This delivers in spades 😀
Creatures of the night .. Another delightful Zulli illustrated work ( lushous paintings) to complement Neil Gaiman’s words. The two stories are in the short story collection smoke and mirrors. Lettering by Todd Klein. Added to the other book on my shelf I have from this trio ( The facts in the case of the departure of Miss Finch)
That thing when you both want the same thing for Xmas . I was hoping that as the Anansi boys book with a McGinnis cover isn’t out in the UK yet my significant other would get me this in the interim .Then I saw it was in HIS Xmas wish list . At least it is going to be ours I guess. on the flip side he got us tickets to go see Neil at the Royal Festival hall in Feb .
Make Good Art by Neil Gaiman.
Seems Harry Harrison was foretelling the future!
I hear ya, Steve.
He says what we’re all thinking.
The Brexit Debate by Ishtar Ostaria
I must have missed the note when purchasing this calender of tales calender about the gorgeous Neil print that came with it! The calender is lovely too .
