I’ll write more about this when I have time, but while the Beastars anime has better tension and writing with their action plot than the manga, they majorly dropped the ball by changing the order and excluding parts of the more slice of life scenes from the manga. Which is kind of a major problem as it erases a lot of Legoshi’s motivations for the decisions he made in the main plot. Like I’m glad I’m reading the manga because it literally fixes all the issues I had with the anime and would I would argue is a better story in comparison despite of of the issues I have with creating audience tension.

#like if we could have the better tension#with the important character motivating slice of life#the. it would be chef’s kiss#beastars#beastars spoilers#like taking out the scene of legoshi having dinner with Harus family was criminal#like actually that was a super important plot point!!!!#and explaims his actions and motivations in the action scene#ugh#Don’t get me started on not including his friends checking on him#and his neighbors being busybodies#like I love Louis but they could have had fewer scenes with him and included more of these#idk silly rant

And it's sickening because so much of the development of HIV medicine has been publicly funded. We fucking paid for this research dozens of times over; without that public funding there would be almost nothing new for pharmaceutical companies to ransom I mean sell in the first place.

Me: *looking at a porcelain hand in the home decor aisle of a store* if I lost my hands in some kind of tragic accident, I’d decorate my entire home with hand-shaped things. Then I’d invite guests over for like, dinner parties and such and sit there expectantly just basking in their discomfort.

The improvement is actually greater than this graph shows, since while house fires more than halved, the US population increased by 51% from 220 million to 332 million.

The number of house fires per 1000 people per year went from 3.289 to 1.023, a 69% reduction.

On my first day in Germany I got to my hotel and I couldn't get the lights to turn on. And I was like "Eh, fuck it, I'll just take a shower in the dark." And then the shower wouldn't get hot. I waited and waited and it stayed ice cold.

So I go down to the front desk and I'm like "My lights won't turn on and my shower won't get hot" so they send this guy up with me. We get into the room and I flick the switch and nothing happens so I'm like "See?"

And he goes "You must put your card in the slot."

"I... what? I have to put my room card in the light switch?"

"Of course!"

Now I have been in many hotels in the US and never encountered this concept, but apparently it was something most of their guests already knew. So I'm looking like a fool at this point. I feel like an idiot. The dude is fully grinning at me. I put the card in the slot and voila, the light turns on.

Then he's like "Ok, let's see if the shower works. You know you must wait for the hot water?" and I just know he's thinking I'm an idiot who also can't use a shower. This stupid American can't wait for the hot water! She can't even use a light switch or a shower!

And I guess he was distracted by these thoughts of my stupidity, because this dude fully stepped into the shower. In his nice dress shirt and slacks. He just. Gets into the shower.

And turns it on.
