This post goes harder than any post has ever gone before.

I feel like it’s become less socially acceptable to hit your pet than it is to hit your child. And that’s… kind of absurd.

Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s absolutely abhorrent to be hitting your pets too, but I feel like when someone hits an animal everyone’s like, “Holy shit. Someone call animal control? How can you hit something that can’t even fight back? This is disgusting.” and then when someone whacks their kid everyone’s like, “Well, you know. That’s just their parenting style.”

Messed up history facts time.

The first recognized victim of child abuse was a girl named Mary Ellen Wilson. In 1874.

There was very little protection for minors before then. Children were considered the property of their parents and barely anyone intervened when they were mistreated.

Mary Ellen was rescued from unfit parents only after the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) stepped in on her behalf. ASPCA advocates pointed out that if Mary Ellen were a horse or a dog, her mistreatment would be prohibited by statute. 

A judge agreed that the young girl deserved at least the same protection as an animal.

It is morbid enough that animals were legally more protected than children and that this very comparison was used to extend legal rights to children.

But the worst part is that a lot of parents have apparently not updated their beliefs since then and still treat children as property that they can do anything they want to. That is what a lot of people consider an ideal “traditional family”.

Only two countries in the world haven’t ratified the UN bill of children’s rights. One is the USA.

there is a good chance that they are police too. if anyone, especially a white dude, ever randomly gets your attention and conspiratorially tries to convince you to jump a police officer, then dude is a cop. They have been using this technique and script for at least 30 years.

Check their fucking shoes. They’re always too afraid that their little toesies will be hurt so they’ll usually still be rocking the exact same boots as the guys on the other side. This was what gave the cops away when they provoked riots in Toronto a while back.

Similar note: IME, unmarked cruisers have five distinguishing traits: 1. They’re one of the department-issue models. 2. They’re always white, black, or dark blue. 3. They always look like they just rolled out of a car wash. 4. Usually rocking restricted plates. 5. Most reliable if present but hardest to spot: Their mirrors are bulkier, to fit the light rigs in.

In Austin the under cover officer that tried to convince me to set a cop car on fire had a convincing fake beard.

Be careful out there and read up on common tactics used against protestors before going.

You can usually see the stealth lights if you look into the grill.

Besides the old obvious as fuck Crown Victoria, be suspicious of 2013+ Ford Taurus and Explorer, 2006+ Dodge Charger and Dakota, 06-13 Chevy Impala, 11+ Chevy Caprice and both the Tahoe and Suburban.

Look for oversize mirrors, plugs on the roof and/or A pillar, lights inside the grill, extraneous lights inside the headlight assembly, lights tucked up behind the rear view mirror, steel wheels with or without wheel covers, and plugs or short antennas on the trunk lid.

Fun Vampire Fact; the reason that Vampires traditionally cannot see their reflections in a mirror is because mirrors used to be backed with a reflective layer of silver — which, as the metal of purity, would not ‘interact’ with Vampires, who are the Devil’s work.

However, modern mirrors have used aluminum as their reflective backing for many years now — and aluminum is not a ‘picky’ metal at all. So Vampires are able to see their reflections in modern mirrors.

All I can think about is a vampire used to not seeing their reflection in mirrors for centuries, and one day they are just walking along and unknowingly pass a mirror backed with aluminum and THEY NEARLY SHIT THEMSELVES.

I’m really struggling as a trans woman and a sex worker since SESTA/FOSTA took away most of my advertising venues, and I’ve been unable to develop a base of reliable regulars. Things got truly dire last night, when a major client stood me up, losing me the money I had counted on to stay alive and afloat. Im also working to overcome my mental illnesses and live a fulfilled life despite my limitations. I’m down to about $20, my food stamps are used up and don’t renew for another 10 days, I’ve got overdue bills, a partner who is similarly struggling who I’d like to be able to help more, and my phone will be cut off in a week. If you could do anything, even a little, to help me out, I’d really appreciate it❤

tumblr could not have changed everything at a worse time for me. I had only just started getting back on my feet, using my side blog to promote a certain side job (sorry, mom). It was going pretty well, I at least made one rent payment… 3 months ago. Because now my hours were cut in the store I work at, because that is the nature of small businesses. 

Now I owe 1,000$ to my landlord, and more to my parents for when they helped me out months ago. 

Please help me out. I’ve run out of places to turn. I’ve picked up side jobs around my city, but it’s not enough. I’m down to one meal a day, two if I can pick up enough bottles for taco bell. i’ve been applying for jobs daily, but it’s the end of the semester in a 75% college city. You do the math. 

I started that side job out of desperation (and a little fun, but mostly desperation). it was the only thing i could do around my weird schedule of activism and classes. 

I don’t want to need to do it anymore, either. I want to be a teacher, and I don’t want my future students finding me. I just want to eat and not get evicted. 

I’ve now been told by my roommate that the landlord is about to evict me unless i come up with 1,500$ asap. I’m sure i can hold off the deadline if i pay everything i have (about 300$) and keep paying chunks itll be okay, but I highly doubt I’ll be able to pull this off.

I dont know what to do please reblog this if you can’t help. That’s all i ask.
