A patchwork piece I made with hand-dyed fabrics for my fiber arts class! The orangey pink parts are dyed with avocado pits and skins.
The white triangle is a shard of a bowl that I found that must have exploded in the kiln outside the art building.
The assignment was to make a “soft landing” for an object that we felt sorry for and mended. I felt bad for the way the shard would always be separate from its intended context (being a part of a bowl). The way I “mended” it was by removing its identity as being part of something and giving it a new context, one in which it can be whole just on its own.
