part of being an ally to trans men is not being a dick to cis men for their appearance btw

the short trans men hear you. the trans men with bottom growth—or who are post-phalloplasty—hear your bad jokes about small dicks. the trans men undergoing hrt who are losing their hair hear you talk shit about bald spots.

also, hot take, you should care about not hurting random cis men in addition to not hurting trans men. like just because some guy is being an asshole online doesn’t mean the thousands of young boys reading your comments about someone with their same acne deserved it. i don’t care what your reason is, even if you think someone is bad enough to warrant being bullied, who gave you permission to hurt the innocent bystander?

hey y’all should spread this version bc some people need to hear this context

It's the same thing as when a trans person is crappy.

You don't misgender them. Common decency and not degrading someone for their appearance or other factors, ESPECIALLY factors they cannot control like how their body is, is just what you fuckin do.

It's not even only about the people who see it and get the residual blowback. In general someone should be dragged for their abysmally shit opinions/words/choices/etc.

That bald guy who said, "Well maybe we should hear both sides" doesn't need to be dragged for being bald. The guy who said some absolutely shit ass 4Chan take doesn't need to be called a "microdick"

Their appearance and their bodies are not the target. You can even point out the fact that sometimes this opinion is held by people who fall into this appearance which is a thing worth looking into and maybe trying to understand!

But the way to not do that is call the person on Twitter a fat loser who lives in his mom's basement. It's serves nothing, it's only a lash out against them that makes you feel better and a whole lot of people feel worse.

I get the urge. I really do. Even still I fall into it sometimes almost on reflex. But it doesn't benefit anyone or anything.

Wouldn't it be so nice if everyone was kind

Wouldn't it be great if no matter where you went or what you did, if you came across a stranger, you'd know that you were safe with a friend?

Maybe if I do my best, I can belong somewhere like that

today i went out to get dinner at a place near my house. the cashier was the same one working there last time i went, and he remembered my name. i wasn't expecting it at all, and it made me smile.

when i headed home, i was walking down the street when i saw a group of people around my age walking by. i had never met them in my life, and they clearly all knew each other. but i decided to wave and say hi as i walked by. all at once, all of them absolutely LIT UP and waved hello back and looked so happy. i complimented one of them on their shoes, and we went our separate ways. i don't think the greeting meant anything to them – it was just a friendly wave hello, probably one of dozens they'd given that day – but it meant the world to me.

i had to pass through a park on my way home, and while i was there, i passed a mother pushing her baby in a stroller. there was a tiny dog riding in the bottom of the stroller, and it leaned out when it saw me. i asked to pet it, and the mom said yes, so i put my hand out and learned that this was quite possibly the friendliest dog i'd ever met. it was so sweet, and as i stood back up to walk away, i told the woman that meeting her dog was the highlight of my day. she looked so happy.

the family living in the house a street away from mine owns a little gray cat whose name i used to know. sometimes they'll let him hang out on the front steps and watch people go by, and today he was out there again. as i walked past, though, i wasn't the only one who wanted to say hi – there was a girl already petting him. we introduced ourselves and bonded over this extraordinarily cuddly cat (who is seriously the most affectionate cat i've ever seen in my life). we interacted for maybe two minutes at most, but i still walked away feeling like i had made a friend.

so i guess what i'm trying to say is that humans are good. there are kind people in the world, and i was lucky enough to meet some of them today. i hope to be the sort of person who other people can remember that same way.

anyway here is a summary of my panel with hiroaki kawakami, a japanese lawyer who legally represents many LGBT+ individuals and movements:

legally there is nothing protecting same sex marriage in japan, HOWEVER currently different lawsuits are making their way to the supreme court. while a lot of the supreme court officials are very conservative, because the japanese economy also relies on good relations with foreign countries they are receiving a lot of pressure from younger generations and those investors to find compromise

the sad thing is that transgender individuals (like the united states) are becoming a scapegoat from many political sectors and the recipient of a lot of political and digital harassment

HOWEVER. the general japanese public is in favor of LGBT+ rights/respect (70% of the country reported to be in support of the legalization and protection of gay marriage) and obviously the work of queer activist/organization groups has not gone unnoticed

currently one big issue faced by queer activist groups in japan is that they are not televised or reported on - the younger generation is communicating via social medias like tiktok and this has allowed for some shift in the narrative. especially as this allows national attention which (in the words of the speaker, not mine) japanese legislators and investors do care about

when i asked what it is we can do best for our friends in japan, he said that publicizing the lives and stories of LGBT+ individuals in japan, talking about the positive effects of protections for LGBT+ individuals would have on the country and express desire publicly for such a thing to happen, as well as general words of support/kinship - these things are what we can best do as those outside the country (according to him!)

its extremely heartwarming as well as a bit bittersweet that we are fighting similar battles in different countries, i hope that in the future we can all have good news to share with eachother

Guys, we've talked about this.

You need to give your domesticated wading ghosts larger death pools. I understand if you can't find a real Well, but you need an enclosure at least 5 times the size of the spirit itself.

Thank you for the PSA, and it’s certainly good advice! I am happy to report that in this particular photoset we’re looking at a temporary holding tank, possibly being used to keep a lab employee safe during a routine water test. There is a strict no-shared-space policy for outside contractors at reputable spirit preserves, both to keep the ghost from becoming frustrated at its inability to approach what it perceives as prey, and to ensure the safety of outside parties. Training sessions focusing heavily on positive reinforcement are used to get the ghost accustomed to the holding tank as well as short trips between the pond and an appropriate secured location. Many health checks and enrichment activities can be conducted directly at the water source, but sometimes a more controlled environment is required. Please be assured that the ghost in the photographs is doing ‘well’. ☆⌒( ^ ▽ ゜)

I love Hideo Kojima he makes multiple games where characters give long winded monologues (that he personally wrote) about how US entertainment media is designed to manufacture consent for the military, and then he’ll spend 3 days gushing about Top Gun

Kojima is very anti war, but also he has like a little kid brain where he just loves military hardware and spies and soldiers and he especially loves big machines that go really fast and make huge kabooms, and I think it’s the tension between these two parts of him that makes his art so deliciously insane

If you're trying to unpack and heal from Christian religious trauma, a thing you really need to understand (if you don't already) is that you were probably misled about Judaism a lot. Christianity generally tries to paint itself as the self-evident successor of Judaism, and one of the ways it does this is by painting Judaism as Christianity Without Jesus.

In reality, Judaism is practiced very differently from Christianity, and Jews have a very different relationship to their Bible than Christians have to theirs. Just about everything you'll hear about Judaism from Christians is total hogwash - literally, it's Christian propaganda. Christianity as most of us know it was shaped by the Roman Empire's political agendas, and that's a huge reason why it's the way it is.

Not just the Roman Empire's political agendas, but also the Roman Empire's religious structure.

There was a secretive Roman cult where the followers ritualistically consumed the blood of the god in the form of wine.

Am I referring to Christianity or the Cult of Dionysius?

There was a Roman religious cult where the primary theological belief structure is that there is a god of light and good in an eternal conflict for the fate of the world with a god of darkness and evil.

Am I referring to Christianity or Zoroastrianism, in its form of Mithraism?

There was a Roman-era religious cult where the main worshipped god was murdered and brought back to life, and it is through this god that his followers can achieve eternal life, but non-believers will be judged and punished.

Am I referring to Christianity or Serapis (Hellenized Osiris)?

The point is that a massive amount of theology and religious ritual practice in Christianity is not derived from Judaism, but from cross-pollination from other sources, brought in by Roman converts in the early decades and centuries.
