Hey! I thought your talk on stream about your go-bag and what's in it was interesting, but I process text better than audio, so I was wondering if you had advice on putting one together? It's fine if you'd rather not! Thanks either way!

Okay! Note that some of these things are gearing up in prep for sudden homelessness or natural disaster (tornados, personally) but some are just generally good things on hand you might need to keep. Also, some tips involve a car, skip those if they dont apply.

You're going to want a backpack or duffle bag with comfortable enough straps that are thick and sturdy enough to hold the weight of everything you are carrying while also keeping you balanced. I got my blue one at a charity give away for students in poverty, those heavy duty school bags for textbooks, but you can thrift the same bags for around $5-$10, at least in my area.

What I have in the front pockets, in smaller ziplock bags:

  • Ziplock bag of first aid supplies (bandaids, gauze, sterile wipes, ect)
  • Small hand sanitizer, bottle or wipes.
  • Baby wipes, water based.
  • Matches
  • Small travel deoderant, small travel shampoo, travel hairbrush, and the bare minimal needed for a 'freshed up look' of make up like concealer, mascera, and face wash. Good for spucing up for job interviews if you end up in a situation where you're living out of your car, and can't acsess a full bathroom.
  • Menustration products. Pack SEVERAL if you are someone who bleeds, or a few if you just want some on hand just in case for someone else you are with.
  • Mouthwash, toothbrush and toothpaste. If you don't have enough room, opt for mouthwash/toothpaste combo, and just rub it on your teeth.
  • Self-protection, dependant on what you prefer. I keep pepper spray and a tazor in the car at all times, and in the bag if not out in the console.
  • Pocket knife and scissors. You never know when you might need to cut something.
  • If you can get some and they fit in the bag: Gloves meant for gardening. Thick enough to protect you if you go dumpster diving. I have a list of tips of safe and legal dumpster diving here.

What I keep in the main pocket of the bag:

  • A large gallon ziplock baggy with emergency clothes in it, consisting of: Pants, short sleeve T-shirt, and 3 pairs of underwear/socks. If you can fit it, slip a long-sleeve shirt in there as well. Keep a 'nice shirt' like a button up or something 'nice casual' in there for job interviews.
  • You're going to want a jacket in your go-bag, but since they can be bulky, it might be best to just leave one in your car. Also good for when you're out somewhere and just get cold suddenly.
  • RAIN! I have a small one-person umbrella in the side pocket of my bag, and a yellow poncho from walmart in main pocket. I recommend having both, but its fine if you just can fit one.
  • A bag of COMFY clothes, aside from the intial emergency clothes. For me, I call it the pajamma bag, which just has a pair of sweatpants, T-shirt and fuzzy socks.
  • FOOD AND WATER. I keep ziplock baggies of non-perishable food in the bag like: granola bars, slim jims, fruit gummies, cans of preserved fruit, ect. You need to pack at least 2 bottles of water. I think I freaked out Twitch stream a little bit when I pulled out 6 bottles of water out of the bag, but I'm telling you: the more water you can carry, the better.
  • The 'entertainment satchel', which is basically anything that you can do that doesn't require electricity like your phone does that can keep you busy. For me, it's a ziplock bag of a journal/sketchbook with some colored pens. This can be a small book or something.
  • A sewing kit. One of those travel ones, the tiny tin ones. Comes in handy plenty of times.
  • A water-tight folder/baggie that will protect legal documents for you. You probably wont keep them in the car, but if you can grab them on your way out, keep them safe in something they can't get damaged in.
  • A portable battery, a cord for charging your phone and extra wall thingie to plug it into. You can get a decent battery for around 20 bucks on amazon, and your car and public spaces like a library can let you charge your phone.
  • PETS! If you have a pet with you, PLEASE pack the things needed for them ahead of time in your go-bag. Doggy bags and treats and food and the like. I'm a cat person, so I keep three ziplock baggies: one with treats, a large one with food, and one with cat litter in it. You can usually grab a cardboard box by a dumpster for a make-shift litterbox if need be.
  • Depending on who you talk to, money may or may not be a smart thing to keep in your bag, but I say keep at least $50 of cash in there for absolute emergencies, if you can afford to store it.
  • An extra pair of shoes. If they don't fit in the bag, you can store them in the car, or tie them to hang off the bag if you really need them.

Also, not really go-bag related, but I suggest keeping a blanket in your car. If you don't have a car, they make blankets with straps that you can attatch to your backpack, or you can take a long sock or piece of fabric, wrap it around a rolled up blanket, and tie it to your bag. It might not look aesthetic, but it'll be worth it to have it.

Change out the items in your bag every couple months, usually as it starts to get colder or hotter. Currently I'm changing out my stuff from summer items to winter items, like warmer clothes and what not, so I had the bag already near me to show twitch chat. Thanks for everyone that came by Twitch chat and talked by the way, it was fun!

Reblogging this since it's time for me to switch out winter items with summer items, and we're going to be hit with storms, possibly tornadic all this next week. Stay safe folks!

Fun fact this comic is actually lost media and this is one of the few surviving panels

Isn’t this from tails gets trolled?

Actually, no! It’s from a comic called ‘Master Chief and Luna Hanging Out’, and it was 99 pages of early 2010’s DeviantArt nonsense that disappeared when the artist, thet7770ify, deleted their account.

As far as I know, the page where that panel is from is the only page we have left.

We in the mlp fandom have been looking for the rest for a long time to thank them for their service.

me at any given time: can we just buckle down and focus on the task at hand please???

This is a good summary of my life.

Hello, I hope this your day. It sure did mine. Cheam Creems absolutely sent me.

...that your audience won't hate.

This is a method I started using when NFTs were on the rise - thieves would have to put actual work into getting rid of the mark - and one that I am now grateful for with the arrival of AI. Why? Because anyone who tries to train an AI on my work will end up with random, disruptive color blobs.

I can't say for sure it'll stop theft entirely, but it WILL make your images annoying for databases to incorporate, and add an extra layer of inconvenience for thieves. So as far as I'm concerned, that's a win/win.

I'll be showing the steps in CSP, but it should all be pretty easy to replicate in Photoshop.

Now: let's use the above image as our new signature file. I set mine to be 2500 x 1000 pixels when I'm just starting out.

This post pissed off an AI weeb who, with their multiple accounts, decided to whine about how copyrights for smalltime artists are tyranny or something.

That gives me a fair indication that I'm doing something right. ;V

Let me also restate that no anti-theft measure is foolproof. There are going to be ways around watermarks, always. A properly determined individual can always figure out methods of removing it.

However: add enough layers of frustration, and most will not see the point in bothering. Removing a speckled watermark from multiple images takes the kind of time and effort AI bros are, rather famously, unwilling to put in. If they have to do it for a whole gallery, most won't go through the trouble.

That's the point.

This is real neat, gives an effect a lot like graffiti art with the overlapping

I Need Help

Yesterday I got scammed like a stupid idiot and lost all my money. Everything. I have 0.00 sitting in my bank account right now and the bank said they can't get it back.

I'm in college with nothing and I can only work so much. My mom is broke and no matter how much she says she'll figure it out she can't. There's nothing to figure out.

I know I've been absent and I hate to come back just to ask for money but there's nothing else I can do. I've lost everything.

Please. I don't know what else to do. I have to make over 500 before Oct tenth and I'm so scared I can't. Just 5 bucks, that's all I ask.

Anonymous asked:

Do you have any tips for calming down from an anxiety attack/hypervigilance/dissociation while you're at school?

I’m not a professional, and I also didn’t have any (healthy) coping mechanisms for any of these things when I was in school, but I can try to share some tips. If anyone else wants to add their own, please go ahead!

First of all, I think it’s important to say that while many coping mechanisms can help with all three issues listed here, it can be really helpful to recognise whether you’re having an anxiety attack, are hypervigilant, or are dissociating in order to know what will help calm you down. It’s also important to try to figure out the root of the issue, so you can recognise what triggers your anxiety/hypervigilance/dissociation and potentially remove some of those stressors.

I also think it’s important to remember what helps someone else might not help you, and vice versa. So if you find a coping mechanism that helps with either of these issues (and that doesn’t hurt you), even if it’s not listed anywhere as a coping mechanism, you’re allowed to use it.

All that being said, here’s an incomplete list of things that can help while at school:

With anxiety attacks:

  • Breathing exercises, if you know how to do them correctly.
  • Doodling, or even just scratching the paper with a pen or pencil to release the feelings that may be piling up. (Do this only on material you won’t have to pass on to someone else at the end of the year).
  • Tapping your feet on the ground or your fingers on the desk rhythmically, focusing on the sounds they make or the textures you can feel when you do this.
  • Asking to leave the room if necessary (or just leaving without asking if it’s an emergency). If anyone asks, you can say you had a bathroom emergency. Remember you deserve to take as much time as you need to recover in a quiet and private space. No lesson is more important than your well-being.
  • Cold water. Splashing cold water on your face, your neck, your wrists, or holding cold water/ice in your mouth can help. And, of course, drinking cold water. It will send a message to the nervous system to calm down. You can also get this to help with breathing, as taking sips of water stops you from hyperventilating. If you can’t/don’t want to leave the room, you can carry a cold water bottle (maybe with ice in it so it lasts longer) to your lessons and press the bottle itself to your skin.

With hypervigilance:

  • Breathing exercises, again, if you know how to do them.
  • Diverting your attention. If you find yourself looking around everywhere or focusing on your surroundings, you can try carrying something around with you that's nice to feel/smell/look at (eg. a stim toy, a piece of jewellery, any objects that can fit inside your pencilcase) and focus on it instead. If necessary, you can try to describe all its characteristics.
  • Doodling can also help you keep your focus on what’s in front of you, instead of on your surroundings.
  • If you need a mental distraction, challenging yourself to think of 3 things that begin with each letter of the alphabet, (e.g. 3 animals that begin with each letter of the alphabet, then 3 countries, then 3 cities, then 3 foods...).
  • Repeating a mantra to yourself: 'I'm safe, it will pass, I can do this'.
  • Moving your body, especially if you feel paralysed or tense. It can be a big stretch to loosen your muscles or even just a toe wiggle.

With dissociation:

  • Tapping your feet on the ground or your fingers on the desk, again focusing on your body, on the rhythm and the textures you can feel. The goal here is to get back into your body; to become more aware of the here and now.
  • Progressively getting in touch with your body. Start by curling your toes and holding that for a few moments, then release. Then tense your calves for a few moments and release. Do that with each area/muscle group in your body in order (thighs, belly, chest, arms, neck) to help remind you that you are real, that you're connected to the world.
  • Moving your body. Stretching, wiggling your toes, rubbing your thighs, brushing your hair with your fingers, etc.
  • Cold water, again, to splash or press to your skin and help reconnect with your physical sensations.
  • Stim toys or objets that feel nice to the touch or have a strong smell, for the same reason.
  • Asking a friend for a hug, if you’re comfortable with it. Not only because it can help you reconnect with your body, but because physical contact can calm down our nerves and make us feel safe.

After you go through any of these things (anxiety attacks/hypervigilance/dissociation), drink water if you can. Not just because it’ll calm you down, but because your body has just worked hard and tired itself, and needs fuel. For the same reason, have a snack if you can; preferably something with carbs and protein, like a sandwich.

If any of these issues are getting in the way of your school life, please reach out to an adult you trust. You do not have to deal with any of these issues on your own, and you don’t have to just push through and expect yourself to have as much mental energy as your classmates. You deserve help and accomodations, and you deserve to be gentle and kind with yourself. Health comes before school.

Sending all my support your way ❤️

I wanted to share this suicidal ideation thermometer here because it helped me better understand and define my own suicidal thoughts, which in turn made it easier to bring them up to my therapist.

I am really proud to be in the blue area of this thermometer now, instead of in the red one like I used to be!

Reblogging this again on World Suicide Prevention Day (Sept 10th) with a reminder that you do not need to reach the red area of this thermometer to call yourself suicidal or to reach out for help. Please take care, everyone.
