Frozen live action rumour!

According to this site, here, a live action Frozen remake is in the works. Love actions we know are and confirmed to be in the works are Snow White (coming in March 2024), Mufasa: The Lion King, Moana, Lilo & Stich, Hercules and Bambi. The rumoured ones in the works are A Sword in the Stone, Aristocats, Robin Hood, Princess and the Frog, Tangled, Frozen and Tarzan.

That's a lot of love action remakes in the works. It even includes Frozen, with Frozen 3 still in the works! Jen Lee did say that if there was more to tell of the story, there would be more movies. So while the franchise is expanding, the live action remakes are too. I guess it would be cool to see how it's interpreted in love action form; to see what changes and what's kept. This could be a chance to fix the plot holes that are mostly surrounding Hans. They could actually do quite a lot with Hans' character in a live action remake. I'm also certain they'll keep Let it go. Maybe this live action remake inspired the future of the main franchise, and also takes inspiration from the Broadway adaptation.

What do you guys think about all this?

Personally, I hope there won't be a live remake. I'm sorry for the Live movie fans but all the live movies made in recent years are extremely bad in every way. There is no respect for the original culture of the stories, nor for the work carried out by the Disney teams of the time and even less for the world of cinema.

I'm really not happy to know everything they have planned to do in the future with animated films and their program for the years to come. When we see what is planned for Snow White, I find it a shame. Even the son of the second director is mad himself at what Disney is becoming.

If there is a remake, I really hope that it will be several years from now and when the studio will have finally questioned itself and decided to do real good work and not the massacre and horrible deconstruction that they have been doing for twenty years now.

Sorry if I sound bitter but I really am. I understand very well what the fandom hopes to see with a remake but for me this is impossible at the moment given the mentality of Hollywood and Disney. Of course I would like to revisit this story with a lot more elements on Hans and Helsa but also on lots of important points from Frozen but for the moment, it would be better that this not be the case for the good of all and of our fandom. This remains only my point of view but I sincerely believe it even if it doesn't make me happy to see what Disney is becoming but it is the sad reality. But let's keep hope because nothing must take it away from us.

Having some fun drawing my favorite (concept art) versions of Hans and Elsa.

I've seen similar drawings but they always depict this Elsa (the black hair) as if she is some pure evil monster and Hans being innocent. So I twist it around here lol.

Ho I imagined so many times seeing these versions together and collaborating. It would have been so good. I really like all art. It highlights these versions of Elsa and Hans very well.

I love the idea of having Elsa and Hans, as side-by-side riders. Seeing the horses have a relationship that mirrors that of Hans and Elsa will be just awesome. We could even imagine a passage where Elsa finds herself on Sitron and Hans on Nok because of an ordinary but action-packed situation. This could be very funny because the horses wouldn't necessarily be happy with this change but would be very interested in the action. In fact, there are lots of possible situations, I really like the idea.

Hans: I'm gonna tell her (we're dating)!

Elsa: Don't you dare!

I can imagine Anna's face if she learned that her darling sister was in love and with the big bad guy of the story. When you think about it, it would be so funny.

Once Upon a Studio Frozen!!!!

I'm screaminggg! The teaser trailer for the ' Once Upon a Studio' short looks so amazing, especially with the glimpse of Elsa, Anna and Hans! Okay I knew Elsa and Anna (and Olaf too of course) were gonna be in this but Hans to make even a cameo, I did not expect. It didn't cross my mind at all!

Haha I love this! This definitely is a hint to something. I mean is it really just a coincidence that Hans makes another cameo and that too with Elsa showing her "despise" for him? I think not! Disney clearly is aware some of us want Hans back and as redeemed, so then why bring him back each time as a reminder of his crimes and how much he's despised by Frohana, especially Elsa? Well my friends, this is deliberate. They want the love - hate relationship dynamic between them because it is the most obvious but perfect dynamic between them. I'm sure some of you have seen movies where this dynamic plays out between couples and it's loved by some so why not use that for Elsa and Hans? I mean think about it, why would they keep showing Elsa showing Hans more hate than Anna has ever seen be showing? Of course Hans actions to Anna, leaving her to die with a frozen heart, would have got to Elsa personally and Elsa can't take him killing her personally because she wanted to die but then you say "it's been more than 3 years, if Anna's gotten over it, why can't Elsa?". Well sometimes when you don't understand why you hate someone more than necessary, it's because it means something else - in particular love.

So imagine if Hans does come back in Frozen 3 and whenever, however, he shows up to the sisters, Elsa would be the first one to make a movie and get her ice powers ready (just like she was when she was just about to attack Bruni), but Anna stops her because well obviously freezing him wouldn't be the right thing to do as it has been a while anyways. Just like how Kristoff was going to deal with Hans but Anna stopped him and punched him herself, though this time I don't think she'll punch him. I mean you would think it's Anna but I'm sure she's well over Hans and all the things he did (not saying she has forgiven him yet) but given the recent Elsa attacks on Hans (in Frozen Fever and now, though non cannon, in the 'Once Upon a Studio' short).

But yeah point being, with all the Elsa Hans content going on, I have a feeling Disney's going for the love hate dynamic between Elsa and Hans. A bond that is urns from hate to love. I have a whole long post, about how Hans could be redeemed and why they need each other, coming up and another one on Hans' role as in 'The Snow Queen'.

I'm secretly hoping for Hans to escape that ice and come out through a different frame but I don't think it'll happen - but then again you never know! 🫣

You are right. You have to stay positive whatever happens. Life is always better that way. We must admit that seeing Elsa and Hans in the same setting and in new interactions feels great. And I love Elsa's mischievous little look towards Hans. Our ice queen seems very playful and our poor Hans is all frozen, I wouldn't want to be in his place. I also find the passage chosen to make Hans appear very interesting because it is a passage where he was not yet a “bad guy” in the eyes of the public at the time. This may make us speculate about its meaning.

I think Elsa's starting to love teasing him. In fact I don't think it's necessarily because she hates him but rather because she finds it fun and different. And wait wait your onto something! The frame was just before "Love is an open door" Symbolism kicking in as always! I had completely forgotten about this so thank you for the point out!

My take on it would be that yes it's symbolism. We have so many different frames from which they could have used, even the Villain ones, but they chose the start of "Love is an open door". The duet he sang with Anna. And right before the mess started. By mess I mean the tragic events of the movie from the point of Elsa's coronation onwards. So that could be another hint within the Elsa once again teasing Hans hint.

What makes me tick is that Anna doesn't care about Hans. She doesn't even notice him, just pokes at his back as if he doesn't exist. While it is with her that Hans spends the most time, it is Elsa who reacts to the slightest appearance of Hans. He just has to see Frozen 2. Hans doesn't even appear in the flesh just in ice status and she denigrates him and breaks his status by stabbing his back. But here, what is interesting is that she no longer has this disapproving air. She is almost playful, even mocking. She refuses him to leave his frame. This can have several meanings. Is Hans not even worthy of being considered a villain? Or is it also not worthy of redemption and therefore cannot even leave its setting and must remain a simple unpleasant memory for the sisters. Or it means that the character will have a destiny other than just being the evil prince who wanted to be more than what he was supposed to be. The passage can sometimes be seen as funny for some, but also humiliating for others. But there are plenty of small warning signs of a positive potential moving forward for Hans (and Helsa).

All this remains in the hands of the creators of the franchise.

What is also very particular is the passage which is actually chosen to illustrate the return of Hans. This is the passage just before the duo Hans & Anna begins to sing. A passage where for the public, he was just an ordinary prince who was going to be Anna's love interest. He was not the villain of the story nor the character that the audience had to oblige. He still had a future in the quartet Elsa/Hans/Christoph/Anna and in its evolution in the franchise. But we all know what the situation is today in 2023. The third installment of the franchise will not be released before 2025, if all goes well. But there is 2024 before that. What can this year and subsequently 2025 and Frozen 3 bring us?

Hope and a wonderful future, I really hope as much for the franchise because everything is not rosy for it. Even without mentioning Hans. But for Hans, we've all been waiting since 2013 for there to finally be something other than mockery or ignorance towards him (and Helsa of course). Fingers crossed.
