It is a well known secret that Flat-top knits and crochets. He will fight you if you mention it, thinking it will ruin his tough guy image and the diesels will make fun of him. He doesn't know that Dinah also knits and crochets and that if she found out she'd drag him off every day to knit and crochet and gossip. He also doesn't realize that if he was Dinah's knitting buddy she'd put in a good word for him with Greaseball and he'd be part of the gang yesterday.
But Flat-top doesn't realize that so he keeps up with the posturing and trying to prove himself the best of the best in order to someday get invited into the gang.
