Zines, stickers, patches, pins and general feminist/queer rants.

FAT ASS is a queer and trans zine that centers on the experiences of queer and trans fat folks and celebrates the artistry, activism, and work of fat activists. For issue #3 of FAT ASS, we’re looking for submissions related to HEALTH TROLLING. FAT ASS zine recently received a grant from the NAAFA Fat Community Project Fund (naafa.org), enabling us to focus on HEALTH TROLLING in this issue. Submit your work to: fatasszine@gmail.com by February 28th, 2021. We are currently accepting submissions that explore the following topics under this theme: § Concern trolling/health trolling and social surveilliance of fat bodies;

§ Intersectional essays on fat trans and queer experiences with health trolling.

§ Health trolling clapbacks via art like doodles, rants, drawings, collages, paintings, photography etc.

§ Racist, classist, ableist, homo/bi/transphobic undertones of health promotion culture;

§ Fat bodies and food consumption practices;

§  Representations of fat bodies and consumption in the media;

§ Impact of fat and consumption-based stigma on queer and trans folks’ livelihood;

§ Activist efforts to counter health trolling, concern culture, and toxic diet industry messages for our activist spotlight section. Nominate a friend or yourself for this section! §  Have an idea that’s not listed above? Send it anyway! NOTE: We do not condone the empty promises of diet culture so please do not send us diet regimens, “weight loss stories,” before/after pics or other fat-shaming bullshit! It is a myth that you must be a “good writer” or “good artist” to submit to a zine. We welcome many kinds of writing and artwork: essays, poetry, short stories, photography, doodles, rants, drawings, cartoons/comics, collage…and more! For written submissions, please use Microsoft Word and submit your writing in .doc or .docx format. (Please try to limit submissions to 2500 words. We are flexible. Let us know if you need a little extra space.) For artwork, please attach high resolution .jpg images to your email. Please include a title for your artwork and any information you think would be pertinent for readers to know about your piece (i.e.: medium, location, tools used). Contributors have the option of sharing a short bio or publishing their work anonymously. All contributors will receive a free color copy in the mail! We rigorously support the work of Black, Indigenous, People of Colors’ (BIPOC) and prioritize submissions from these communities.

Call for Submissions! All in Your Head is a queer/feminist traditional cut-and-paste style zine with a focus on LGBTQIA neurodivergent and disabled activists, zinesters, artists, and authors, sponsored by GlitterWurst Zine Distro. Our zine operates on the following *principles: 1.) social inequality and injustice exists [racism, classism, ableism, heterosexism, cissexism to name a few]; 2.) disability, neurodiversity can be understood as a viable form of human difference that intersects with/is shaped by systems of dominance; 3.) claims that there is a “normal” bodymind can have damaging and harmful effects (physically/emotionally/spiritually) and are partly shaped by current social/cultural values and white western colonial histories; 4.) neuroqueer and disabled people must navigate cultural taboos, move among complex institutions and systems of care and negotiate conflicting ideas of “wellness/illness,“ “silence/disclosure,” “visibility/invisibility;” “dis/ability” and more 5.) most importantly, our stories matter. (*this list is by no means exhaustive)

We are seeking submissions for issue #8 of All in Your Head: TO THE BONE: OUR QUEER CRIP BODIES, OURSELVES. We accept many kinds of submissions including but not limited to: essays, short stories, poems, personal narratives, manifestos, rants, drawings, doodles, illustrations, photography, collage, book or movie reviews (related to the theme), song lyrics, playlists, short plays/monologues and more! We resist the notion that there is such as thing as a "good writer/good artist" and seek to dismantle, critique, and challenge that "good writing/good art" means from a queer, disabled, neurodivergent perspective.

Some possible topics for TO THE BONE may include: -Reclaiming and living in our bodies which exist at the intersections of gender, sexuality, race, class, disability, size, and a multitude of other differences. -Visceral knowing, alternative modes of thinking, perceiving, feeling via a queer crip, neuroqueer bodymind. -Queer disabled engagements with artistic or spiritual bodily movement and practice such as: dance, yoga, theater, slam poetry, film, singing (and others!). -Critiques of and engagements with the notion of "transcending disability." -Explorations of the mindbody split trough the lens of disability. -Analyses of disability, passing, and embodiment. -The rhetoric of "loss" and disabled embodiment (i.e.: "sight loss," "loss of limbs"). -Queer disability, pleasure, body erotics.

Civil rights attorney John Walker says he has been bearing witness to the unfair treatment of African-Americans by police since the 1960s. But on Sept. 26, Walker’s decision to watch an arrest in progress in Little Rock, Arkansas, didn’t just annoy the on-scene officers — it got him, and an attorney from his law firm, arrested. The worst part: It was deja vu.

Introducing Gaybro, a distro for nontraditional queer boys

I’ve never run a distro before. I’ve never even thought of selling my own zines. But seeing as there are distros for every niche interest you could possibly think of, I’ve decided to open mine just as a pop-up shop in the winter of next year.

ATTENTION ALL QUEER BOYS (CIS and NON-CIS)

I want your zines!

If you’re looking to find a greater audience for your work, I can take your zines on consignment and sell them here in beautiful Portland, Oregon and on the Internet.

I really want zines that address the following

  • growing up gay
  • coming out
  • being in a nontraditional body (fat, skinny, muscular, femme, &c)
  • growing up gay as a person of color
  • being trans or generally non-cisgendered
  • zines about place, time, memory
  • zines about being bicultural or bilingual
  • being a poor gay person (aren’t we all?)
  • fiction/perzines
  • poetry chapbooks
  • assorted claptrap
  • pillow books (like my own zine, Galván in Portland)
  • anything else you can think of!

At some point I want to start selling the pretty things you make, too. Stickers, patches, buttons, and the like. And of course I’ll be selling my own zine, Galván in Portland!

You should totally anon me or send an email to joe@daelis.com. I’m looking for advice from well-heeled disto owners on how to maintain a distro. I really want to give voice to non-white, non-trad queer guys like myself who feel a need to advance their own agenda want to be part of a conversation about race, class, gender and sexuality in a welcoming way.

Email: joe@daelis.com

Or, conversely, drop me a line (or send your zine!) to:
