I'm sorry, we turned your boyfriend into a metaphor. Yeah, instead of having his own narrative, he now reflects the tragedy and necessity of young, male deaths when waging a war and the loss of the massive potential within them as well as their beauty and artistic skill. And yeah, unfortunately, over time, he came to be interpreted in myriad ways, so his character has been distorted beyond all recognition
