In an effort to move on after the death of his estranged wife, firefighter and ex-army medic Eddie Diaz moves his son Christopher from Los Angeles, California, all the way across the country to a small town in the Texas Hill Country outside of Austin. His new house is old but lovely, his new job at the town fire station has wonderful colleagues and is just the right amount of busy, and he is falling hard for Buck, the handsome, magnetic, charming, and reckless neighbor from across the street.
Yet something is wrong with the house—very, very wrong. Eddie is not one to believe in things that go bump in the night. But as things get stranger and more frightening as time goes on, Eddie will be forced to confront things he'd never thought he'd have to confront—dealing with the possibility of true, deep, abiding love and something terrifying that wants to take his son.
