one thing about alcohol that a lot of people seem to believe is that is makes you more fun and easygoing and likeable. it actually does not make you more likeable inherently, what it does is suppress the anxiety and self consciousness that inhibits you normally because you don't have the cognitive power for it to be running at the same time as yaydrunk.exe
now I certainly know people who have a lot of fun while drunk and are a pleasure to be around and it shows a different side of their personality. however, i have also known and observed many people who say "I'm so much better drunk" who have imbibed and simply lost all awareness that their behavior is inappropriate, obnoxious, annoying, insulting, selfish, or even straight up frightening
and this also goes for weed. "I'm just more social stoned" people often do not understand that just because you feel better (because you are feeling less) does not mean you're acting better and you have taken a hammer to the your brain's ability to perceive social information
I know this is a nightmare post for people who use substances to socialize but idk I think it's something to know. And again there are people who it doesn't apply to! also it matters way less if everyone else you hang out with is also not sober. get some sober people in the mix and they will be seeing and observing you with their non addled minds. which is also a reason drinkers/stoners hate when you get sober and will try to get you inebriated with them again as fast as possible :)
