Madeline Miller, The Song of Achilles // 9-1-1, Season 3, Episode 15, Eddie Begins // Homer (trans. Robert Fagles), The Iliad
pairing: eddie/buck | word count: 15,685 | rating: mature | chapter: 1/3
Eddie can’t move. Like this, Buck is illuminated by the sunlight streaming through the window; dust motes shimmering around his head, his hair haloed in gold. Beautiful, Eddie thinks. And to his surprise, he doesn’t feel any sort of guilt about doing so. Except — he should. Because Buck is dating Tommy, and he’s happy, and Eddie would rather go to his grave repressed and miserable than ever take away from Buck’s happiness.
Or: Eddie starts to untangle his complicated feelings about himself, and Buck. Mainly Buck.

sometimes i just get so unbelievably angry about how women & young girls specifically are influenced and manipulated by disgusting entitled men into situations they aren’t comfortable in but don’t know how to escape and they then have to carry that guilt and shame of not being a “perfect victim” with them for the rest of their lives. and the worst part about this is that me and every one of my female friends have either experienced this firsthand or know a girl who has because as long as people are willing to point fingers and shift blame men will continue to get away with their despicable behaviour…. it’s especially disturbing seeing how the era of gen-z men is particularly insidious in how they dehumanise women because of how rotted their brains are like it is not normal for this to be a guy’s opening line. rape culture is beyond pervasive and its just sickening.

with motaz evacuating to qatar, and the global strike concluding in a few days, some people might take this as a sign to stop donating, spreading awareness about palestine, or just staying informed altogether. please don't do that. please keep talking about it and sharing credible ways to fund humanitarian aid in palestine. it's not over until an official ceasefire is declared, and even then it'll be a long way to earn palestine its statehood. never allow the atrocities committed in palestine to fade out of memory.
i wake up thirsty and i think of palestine. i go to the doctor’s office and i think of palestine. a sign in the corner of the waiting room says ‘this is a place of healing, disruptive behavior will not be tolerated’ and i think of palestine. they probably weren’t thinking of bombs and snipers and mass graves in parking lots. i call my parents and i think of palestine. i drive to the grocery store and i think of palestine. i look at the clear blue sky and i think of palestine. i put the dishes away and i think of palestine. i feed my cat and i think of palestine. i listen to music and i think of palestine. i read poetry and i think of palestine. i text my friends and i think of palestine. i think of palestine and i think of palestine and i think of palestine
by the way your voice always matters in the fight against injustice. every single time you speak out against an injustice it matters. it sheds light on it. it empowers others to speak up. it matters
if you are afraid to talk about palestine ask yourself why. will you be in danger? as palestinian people are? will an occupying army come into your house in the middle of the night and arrest you for mentioning the tragedy of palestine on social media? is it because you might be perceived as radical for asserting that an occupied people have a right to live free from oppression and death? is it because you feel you don’t know enough to speak out on the 60 days of relentless bombardment in 75 years of ethnic cleansing?
here are some resources to educate yourself:

what’s happening is wrong. it is unjust. and we are not powerless. this goes triple for usamericans. it is our weapons, our military aid, and our country’s unconditional support to the apartheid state of israel that is making this genocide a reality.
use your voice. speak the truth. it always matters.
also can i just say at this point i literally could not give less of a fuck about what selena gomez/taylor swift/beyonce/*insert celebrity here* have to say about palestine because they aren’t!!! saying!!! anything!!!! and that in itself is the loudest statement of all. i genuinely just do not care about the opinions of those who have been too spineless to speak out against one of the most horrific atrocities in human history as it plays out in real time in front of us…. they’re nothing more than gluttonous capitalists who refuse to use their platforms for anything but sucking their deluded fans dry of money.
